Although, the frost this morning certainly reminded us that winter has arrived. Our Biggest Morning Tea was a huge success last week, with $1425 being raised for the Cancer Council. Thank you once again to all those who provided cakes and slices, to Mrs Murphy and Mrs Healey for their organisation, and especially to the many people who came, making the day such a special one. On Friday, our debating teams debated against Bletchington, with the Bathurst Blues winning their first debate for the year! Well done to both teams on their achievements and to their coach, Mrs Johnson. This week, our Girls and Boys Soccer teams played Raglan at Proctor Park, with both teams successfully moving to the next round. Congratulations to both teams and their coaches, Mr Hayes and Mr Jablonskis. On Tuesday, we received our copy of the Board of Studies publication, “The Best of WriteOn 2016”. This contains the outstanding primary school writing from the 2016 WriteOn Competition. I would like to congratulate Izabel Lee and our former student Catilin Morris on the first publication of one of their stories. The students won Silver Awards in last year’s competition and now are two of the featured stories in this book. Congratulations to both girls and to Mrs Datt who mentors the Extension Writing Group. We have attached Izabel’s story to the newsletter for you to read.

Thursday, 1st June 2017 Term 2 Week 6

Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 6. On Friday, our debating teams debated against

Bletchington, with the Bathurst Blues winning their first debate for the year! Well done to both teams on their achievements and to their coach, Mrs Johnson. This week, our Girls and Boys Soccer teams played Raglan at Proctor Park, with both teams successfully moving to the next round. FOOD Allergies - We do have several children at our school who have peanut allergies and have severe reactions if exposed to this food. Parents are asked to be mindful of this when packing recess and lunch and are encouraged not to send products, which contain nuts in them to school.

A general reminder:-

All items of clothing and personal belongings should be clearly marked with your child’s name. All children require a broad brimmed hat each day as our school has a “No Hat, No Play” policy. When parents and friends come to the school during the day, they should present to the front office

on arrival. This is a Legal and Workplace Safety requirement and is followed for the safety and security of all children and teachers. We continue to encourage parents to make appointments to come and talk about your child’s

progress, problems that may arise, ideas etc. It is reminded that the education of your child is a team effort with teachers and parents being the main stakeholders. With this in mind, it is an important reminder that the parent/teacher relationship always needs to be cohesive and

supportive and one of mutual respect. I am sure we will continue to work with one another in a positive manner.

All money coming to the school should be placed in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, correct amount of money, class and what the money is for clearly written on the front. All money and notes should be sent directly to the front office at the school for processing.

Our School Newsletter is uploaded every Thursday so all parents receive information at the same time. Please refer to our website to download the weekly newsletter.

If any parent has any concerns regarding any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to contact me.

PSSA Girls football knockout

The Bathurst Public Girls are Round One winners after beating Kelso Public in their first match of the PSSA girls football knockout tournament. The match was an absolute thriller going right down to the wire. Keira Copeland our captain and absolute workhorse, patrolled the midfield and worked all over the ground all day. She had great support from Charlotte Partridge in the centre of the ground and a lot of help out wide with Jemmia Luck, Phoebe Conners, Faith Ryder and Abby Robinson all rotating on the wings. Gemma Beecham and Alisha Merchant worked hard up front all day with Ivy Lister giving great support. The hero's of the day were our backline with Geneva Kessey and Sienna Tangaroa dominating the half way line, while nothing got through the likes of Poppie Hutchings and Kristina D'Aquino. Cheyanne Ghattas and Abbey Bracken both played their roles nicely and filled in where needed when called upon. Not even extra time could separate the two sides as the game went to a penalty shootout. Up stepped goal keeper, hero of the day and Man of the Match Chloe Turner. Chloe saved 4 out of Kelso's 5 shots to send us through to the next round. While Keira and Geneva both scored from their respective penalty shots. So here we come Raglan Public school! Thank you to all parents and supporters who came to cheer on the girls and drive them to and from the ground.

Online Payments

It is now possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, and can be made via computer, tablet or mobile phone. The payment page is accessed from the front page of the schools website by selecting $ Make a payment.

This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are captured in a secure manner. These details are not passed back to the school.

Money and Notes

As all parents and children are aware, all money, when it comes to school for an event, goes directly to the school office. This procedure is working well and we thank everyone for following this process. When children and/or parents return permission notes to school, they also need to be taken to the office. All notes will be collated and kept in the office and staff will pick up notes from the office after the closing date. We are hoping this streamlines the process with notes.

KIND DONATION The P&C would like to thank Family First Credit Union’s Bathurst branch for donating $250 towards our Father’s Day Breakfast BBQ next term.

The donation is part of their Community Grants Program that has provided over $5000 in funding to 9 local community groups this year. At the school, this donation will help offset the costs of this family-focussed event, which means more of the money raised can be spent on student resources. Yay!
