medieval ensemble, magnificent cathedral and world famous tapestry
It’s a smaller more intimate city Despite the large crowds of summer
tourists, it’s a far more enjoyable place to visit

in northern France about 166 miles northwest of Paris
It lies on the Aure River in Normandy and is not far from the English Channel
History The Battle of
Hastings was a fight to the throne between English nobleman, Harold, and William Duke of Normandy
History continued When Harold
became king, William felt he deserved it so he brought his army to England to fight for the position
The Battle of Hastings The battle lasted 14 years It ended with the death of Harold,
allowing William to become King of England
Historians believe that if William had not won the battle, England would not have become the most powerful country in the world
