High quality – based on decades of experience, in-depth research, and state-of-the-art productiontechnology from Siemens

A flexible solution – expandable and compatible with future developments

Cost-effective – moderate investment and easy adaptation to changing requirements

BC80 – advantages at a glance:

 Siemens quality – high reliability

With the BC80 system, you can offeryour customers Siemens quality, based on in-depth research and de-velopment, state-of-the-art produc-tion technology and over 150 years of experience in fire protection. Theproducts meet all technical safetyrequirements, from short-circuit pro-tection to immunity against electro-magnetic interference.

BC80 offers the flexibility your cus-tomers need, whether they want toexpand or modernize their system. Thanks to its open topology, the sys-tem is forward-looking – for easyadaptation to growth and changingrequirements.

 Siemens technology – high cost-effectiveness

BC80 combines high-quality tech-nology with cost-effectiveness, in procurement as well as operation.Moderate hardware costs keep theinvestment manageable, while theflexible, expandable installation pro-tects the long-term view – genuinebrand quality at an economical price, for years to come.

High-quality Siemens products – reliable and economical.

Your customers are responsible for the protec-tion of their employees, buildings, and assets. They also experience cost competition. As a result, they need fire protection components that deliver reliable fire detection and alarm signaling, but which are also cost-efficient. Fire safety products from Siemens position you per-fectly to satisfy your customers’ requirements. The BC80 system products range from fire detec-tors to control panels. They are moderately priced and of reliable quality.

 Easy installation – fast protection

Because the BC80 system units havebeen designed for easy installation, buildings can be protected quickly.BC80 provides polarity-free wiring;poles can no longer be accidentallyreversed. Therefore, the networkingof BC80 fire detectors, peripheralequipment, and BC80 control panelsis rapid and accurate. The use of spurlines and T-Branches (F-Bus) furthersimplifies installation.

 Easy configuration – fast commissioning

Commissioning of the BC80 systemis supported by an integrated auto-configuration function; with it, thesystem automatically detects all inte-grated devices (auto-mapping). Thisreduces manual configuration to aminimum – eliminating a potentialsource of error. You benefit from ashorter time to a fully-operational system.

More complex manual programmingcan be conducted via the control panels or by using Windows-basedsoftware.

Easy concepts make your work easier.

BC80 fire protection products are easy to imple-ment and service. They can be quickly installed and rapidly commissioned. This reduces your costs and speeds up order processing. Simplicityof design reduces the period needed to gain familiarity with the system, so you can offer your customers user-friendly fire protection in the shortest possible time.

Easy maintenance – no interruption of operation

All devices displayed on the con-trollers are shown with both theiraddress number and position details. These help your customers assesserror messages as aids to decision-making, and you to keep a clearoverview during installation andmaintenance. Devices with conven-tional technology, such as collectivefire detectors, can also be wired to the BC80 system via spur lines.

Tracing faulty fire detectors or periph-eral devices during system operationis swift, targeted, and cost-efficient.

Easy installation and fast buildingprotection – thanks to installationaids and polarity-free non-shieldedcabling

 Fast commissioning – thanks toauto-mapping and Windows-basedsoftware

Minimal maintenance – withaddress and position of all detectorsand peripheral devices needingservice directly indicated

Smooth expansion – via card insertsfor control panels and T-Branchesfor cabling

Easy modernization – through useof present cabling, compatibilitywith existing peripheral equipment, and simple software uploads

BC80 – advantages at a glance:

 Easy expandability – high flexibility

BC80 grows with your customers’requirements. When buildings orrooms are extended, the BC80 in-stallation can also be expanded, forexample with new T-Branches in thecabling and expansion cards in thecontrol panels.

With an expansion card it is possibleto hook up an additional 127 periph-eral devices via the F-Bus, as many as32 additional control panels via the A-Bus, and up to three B-Bus devices, such as extinguishing control panelsor interlocking panels. This increasesoptions for larger projects.

 Easy conversion – fast modernization

Existing systems can be replaced andmodernized with BC80 without largecabling expenditures. Currently in-stalled cables can be used to networkBC80 devices, since neither the firedetector lines nor the notificationappliance circuits require a shieldedwire. The system can also be linkedwith existing peripheral devices, which saves time and money. Soft-ware updates can be uploaded via the USB port of the control panels.

BC80 design and installation guidelines.

In this section, we illustrate best practice for installation of fire detection equipment. While not all possible cases may be covered, these are intended to provide guidelines. Local regulations may be more detailed and must always be ob-served. Please contact your local Siemens sales organization for more detailed information and documentation.

BC80 detectors – detectors should be positioned* at least 0.5 m from the wall max. 12 m from the previous

detector

BC80 manual call points – manual call points should be positioned* in a clearly visible location 1.5 m from floor level

BC80 fire control panels – mounting the fire controlpanel*Keep a minimum distance toobjects which could obscure the panel or the view to it
