GM Scott Cain knows there's many ways to discover the bay

Beacon Bay staff made the most of the long winter getting everything ship shape, ready for your 2018 sensational summer adventures to begin.I'm very happy to be part of Beacon Bay and your Georgian Bay vacation. A lifelong resident of the

A number of things have happened since last fall including welcoming several new faces to improve your Beacon Bay boating experience.Marg Graham has relocated to Beacon Bay Marina as our Dockage Coordinator. Marg has been a boater for many years and will be able to assist you whether it's a dockage question or where to spend the day on the bay.

Along with Marg we have the pleasure of embracing a large influx of boaters from Bay Moorings who have joined us at Beacon Bay. We are proud that they have chosen Beacon Bay as their new summer spot.

I want to extend a warm “welcome aboard” to everyone as you experience our family-friendly boating community.

Jolie Rail always has a window on what's happening at Beacon Bay.

Jolie Rail, our incredibly efficient Office Manager, has had all the carpet replaced in the office and relocated the work stations. It's all in an effort to create a friendlier atmosphere when you come in for a visit or coffee. Please stop in and say hello – or wave as you go by her window.

Beacon Bay Events

Winter sure hung on this year, but hey, we're Canadian and we do winter well so we made the best of it with our Ice-Out Contest featuring our pal “Kenny”.Kenny was parked on the ice enjoying the view and we asked our Beacon Bay boaters to guess the date and time that Kenny would take the plunge. Many of you were happy to provide your best guesses, but only one lucky person would be the winner of our first ever Ice-Out Contest. Our webcam was focused on Kenny so you could monitor his progress. He hung on a long time but Kenny finally broke through and sank on April 27 at 5:50 p.m. After reviewing all the predictions we found that Guy Peddie on F004 (What Day of the Week) had guessed 4 p.m. on April 27 making him the winner of an embroidered Beacon Bay jacket with his boat name! Our second place winner was Jane Jeffery on G001 (Kestral V) for her prediction of April 26 at 1:15 p.m. She wins a set of embroidered Beacon Bay towels.Congratulations Guy and Jane and thanks to all our boaters for playing along. It’s all part of the fun here at Beacon Bay Marina!

Prizes for 2018to be announced

BEACON BAY MARINA NEWSLETTER| BEACON BAY MARINA NEWSLETTER|

Pssst, pass it on. Beacon Bay is holding a photo contest.Get your cameras and cellphones ready to record those amazing summer shots – kids splashing in the water, dad learning to wakeboard, that spectacular sunset, the lonely loon, the trophy fish that didn't get away, that lazy day in the inflatable. Use your imagination because anything and everything that represents boating on Georgian Bay is fair game.

Please submit your high resolution shots to [email protected] with the email subject line Photo Contest 2018 and don't forget to include your name in the email. Our staff will enjoy selecting a winner that will be announced by the end of December. And now for the fine print …

Rules For 2018This is a fun contest, but here are a few guidelines to keep in mind. Photos must have been taken on or after

January 1st 2018. All submissions must be taken by Beacon

Bay Marina members. All submissions may be used by us in

newsletters, printed material and social media. Please select a maximum of five photos per person. Photos must be taken in the Georgian Bay

boating area.

The late winter weather means we've been super busy so we haven't decided on our awesome prizes yet but they will be good.

Garbage & Recycling ChangesThis year after much discussion with staff and boaters we are creating a one-stop recycling and garbage centre between Shop 3 and 4. This will be a drive thru area with easy access, but out of sight for all boaters. I know that initially it might seem to be an inconvenience for some, but the benefit to all is much greater and helps us maintain the pristine, relaxed resort-like environment we've all come to know and love at Beacon Bay. For added convenience we will offer dockside pick-up daily or as required for those that wish—just radio one of the Dock Runners, they will be more than happy to collect and dispose of your garbage and recyclables for you!

New this year we have renovated the upstairs of the office to a lounge like setting complete with two rooms for exercising. This will be a good place to meet and have your morning coffee and make plans for the day while the crew sleeps in. There's a TV for those special games you don't want to miss.

This summer as in the past our shed #4 will be available for those foul weather days to gather in with friends and avoid cabin fever.

Make sure you mark your calendars for our events this summer starting with our wine and cheese in June. This will be a good time to show a warm welcome to our new Beacon Bay boaters and meet up with old friends. Music by Timothy.

Our fully escorted rendezvous adventures are another way to enjoy the summer whether you choose to join the sail or powerboat

rendezvous it will be time well spent making memories. Our experienced, knowledgeable leaders offer tips, anchoring assistance and help you meet your fellow boaters.

Gerry and Suzanne from Georgian Harbour Yacht Sales are here on site with a complete listing of used/ brokerage boats for you. Maybe you are looking to sell your boat and get a bigger one they can help you with both. Feel free to stop in their office and take a look at what they have and just say hi. Georgian Harbour also sells Greenline Yachts, a true hybrid cruiser.

New this year we also have Pride Marine group joining our team. Pride Marine will be showing their superior line of new boats at Beacon Bay with boats in the water and on land. They will have staff on site to answer all your questions. Pride will be showing Sea Ray sport and cruiser line up at Beacon Bay.
