Why shanghai?

Shanghai is a renowned international metropolis drawing more and more attention from all over the world. Situ-ated on the estuary of Yangtze River, it serves as the most influential economic, financial and cultural center in East China. Also, it is a popular destination for visitors wanting to sense the pulsat-ing development of the country.

In addition to its modernization, the city’s multicultural flair endows it with a unique glamour. Here, one finds the perfect blend of cultures, the modern and the traditional, the western and the oriental. New skyscrapers and old colonial buildings together draw the skyline of Shanghai. Western customs and Chinese traditions intertwine and form Shanghai’s culture, making a visi-tor’s stay truly memorable.

Why chinese?

Language is an integral part of Chinese culture as it not only reflects the his-tory of the nation but also its people’s beliefs. China’s rich cultural heritage of over three thousand years reflects the values, struggles, sensibilities, joys and sorrows of its people. Through the study of Chinese language, one is given insight into even the most intimate feel-ings and moral guidelines of Chinese society

If you still are not convinced that study-ing Chinese is the best option for you, here are some hard facts:

Over one fifth of the planet speaks Chi-nese. Mandarin Chinese is the mother tongue of over 873 million people, making it the most widely spoken first language in the world. In addition to the People’s Republic of China, Mandarin Chinese is also spoken in overseas Chi-nese communities including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, and Mongolia.

So yes, in the context of the multicultur-al competitive world we live in, you’ll be better off if you speak Chinese.
