Remember to read every day. It can be a story book, poetry book, joke book, a magazine, an online

story – it’s your choice!

You don’t have to complete all of the work

or worksheets I put on HWB in one day.

Spread them out and maybe complete 2/3

activities a day.

Ask your parents/carers to check their

Schoop messages as Mrs Teague is

regularly sending out lots of fun activities

for you to do at home.

Upload any pictures of work you have completed onto HWB for me to see.

I have read some great haiku poems on HWB, it’s good to see that you remembered how to write them, well done! Here are a few for you to see: Animal

A dog likes to play

It loves to go on long walks

And take a big stick.

By Dylan

Autumn

The smell of pumpkins

All the autumn coloured leaves

Leaves fall around me By Gwen

We will have another go at this challenge as I could see on HWB that some of you have tried really hard and had some fab results. If you have a go at this challenge a few times during the week then your spellings will improve as well as your score. Why not challenge your parents/carers and see who can score the highest in your house? Challenge: How many high frequency words can you spell in 1 minute?

Ask somebody in your house to test you. They need to can call out the words whilst you write them down as quickly and clearly as you can. Upload your words to HWB so I can see how many you wrote in 1 minute. Good luck! Follow this link for the words: http://www.highfrequencywords.org/first-100-high-frequency-word-list-precursive.html

Comprehensions I have put a few comprehensions on HWB for you to complete. Remember to read the information texts carefully before answering the questions. When you answer the questions try and answer them in full sentences.

Telling the time This week we are looking at telling the time. We can tell the time using two different clocks: An analogue clock and a digital clock. Task 1: I would like you to sit with your parents/carers to practise reading the time on an analogue clock. Can you show them what 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, 10 o’clock looks like? Can you show them where quarter past, quarter too and half past is? Can you show and count every 5 minutes (5, 10, 15…)? Can you show and count to the nearest minute on the clock? 23 minutes past 4.

Task 2: Now I would like you to do the same as task 1 but this time with a digital clock. Can you read the hours? 3:00 – 3 o’clock, 20:00 – 8 o’clock Can you read the minutes? 5:20 – 20 minutes past 5. Can you read to the nearest minute? 14:33 – 33 minutes past 2

Once you are happy and feel confident that you can tell the time in the different ways, have a go at the worksheets I have put on HWB. If you are getting a little bit stuck, why don’t you make yourself a clock using household items to help you with answering the questions.

CHALLENGE!

What time?? Mrs Williams has a very busy day tomorrow and she needs to work out what time to get out of bed and when to start her journeys. Can you help her? Challenge 1: Mrs Williams needs to be at her first meeting by 9:30am. It normally takes her about 1 hour 15 minutes to have breakfast and get ready in the morning. The journey will only take 10 minutes. What time does she need to get out of bed? Challenge 2: Mrs Williams stops for lunch around 11:45am. Her next meeting is at 1pm. It will take her 16 minutes to get there. What time will she need to start her journey? After the meeting she needs to pick her little boy up from creche at 4:30pm. The journey from the meeting to the creche will take 39 minutes, but on the way she needs to stop for petrol and this usually takes around 6 minutes. What time does the meeting need to finish by?

Continue to practise all of the timetables. Maybe you could play fastest gun with

everyone in your house!

Have a go at counting forwards and backwards in multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10.

We will continue with this activity as it is a big task and will probably take you a little longer to research all of the animal’s facts before creating your PowerPoint. (Maybe you could research 1 animal a day) Animals: Research the different types of animals found in South Africa then create a PowerPoint about them. Use a new slide for each animal but remember to include lots of interesting facts. Here are a few ideas for you:

• Animal name • Size of the animal • Describe what the animal looks like. • Where does the animal live? • Does the animal live on its own or in a small or large group? • What type of environment does the animal live in? • What does the animal eat? • Population of the animal.

Fact file: Using your animal PowerPoint, create a mini fact file on your favourite South African animal. I have put one on HWB for you to see what information you could include.

Next, create a picture of your favourite animal. You could use paint, pens, pencils, a collage of different pieces of paper…whatever you fancy.

CHALLENGE! Using household items can you make a 3D model of your favourite South African animal? Can you make it move? e.g. the elephant’s trunk moves, or the animal has moving legs. Remember to upload your photos and videos on HWB for me to see.

Da iawn to Ioan and Dylan for creating fantastic ‘International Nurses Day’ Posters to thank them for all of their hard work during this difficult time. They look fantastic! Remember if you have created one upload it onto HWB.

It’s been lovely to see some of you completing lots of work on HWB and remembering to upload your pictures for me to see. Here are a few photos for you all too see too:
