    Holz Chair

Holz is a unique, monobloc chair made from an enrely natural bio-composite using gas-assisted injecon moulding. Produced

using Arboform, a material derived from lignin, a by-product of the paper industry, it has similar properes to polypropylene

and ABS. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, in the domesc and contract environment. Also, available are a set of

addional components including an armrest, and cushions.

    Inclusive Kitchen

This kitchen counters the sgma by its design for use by the able bodied, and people with lesser physical capabilies side-by-

side. Designed in reponse to a brief created by Howdens Joinery, in collaboraon with the Helen Hamlyn Centre, it was based

on research undertaken during visits to potenal customers houses.

The sink has been redesigned with a lowered front to make it easier

for people who are seated to use. This doesnt aect how it funcons

for people who want to use it standing. Oponal under sink strorage is

available if leg room is not required.

A pull out table provides an extra work surface that can be used for

seated food preparaon or to free up more space on the counter. The

unit beneath the table has storage space, or can be used for waste

    produce and recycling.

Splash-back and mid way storage allows the user to keep items that

are commonly used, such as mugs, refreshments and utensils, in a

place that is always accessible. Shelves and hooks can be sloed into

the wall to create storage opportunies.

The drawers and cupboards use push to open runners and hinges, this

removes the need for ddly knobs and handles. A ceramic insert inset

into the panels provides a texture and colour change that highlights

the area that you need to press.

    Modular Public Seang

Wave Bench was designed in response to a brief to create an innovave seang soluon using thin materials. The bench replicates

a wave with the peaks giving varying seat heights and the troughs providing addional bag storage. It has been specied to be

made from 1.6mm stainless steel, making it t for use both indoors and outdoors.

    Childrens Seang

The aim of this project was to develop sketching and quick CAD modelling skills, so lile has been considered in terms of technical

denion. The rocking horse is designed to be made from bent plywood with an injecon moulded saddle. This project is currently

being developed further to enable batch producon.

    Childrens DPI

This inhaler was designed in response to an RSA brief called Double Duty Devices. Research showed that up to 80% of the

medicaon in an inhaler is wasted through incorrect use. And that the majority of inhalers end up in landll at when the user has

nished with it even though they are made of recyclable material s. This response looks at addressing both of these problems.

    Silicone rubber Pump aids the

expulsion of the medica on by

forcing a blast of air past the

    dose wheel. This releases half

of the required dose. The other

half is released when the user

    inhales.

The use of a pump means a

propellant isnt required as airbecomes the propellant.

Window moulded into the body allows the user to

see how much medicaon t hey have remaining.

When medicaon is running low a visual prompt

encourages the user to recycle their empty inhaler.

    Polypropylene body is easily

    recyclable, it also allows

a living hinge to be used

    meaning the inhaler can be

    moulded in two parts and

    then joined together using

    High Frequency Welding.

    USB Memory Sck

A project to develop CAD modelling, rendering and technical drawing techniques. A USB pen designed by a member of sta was

given out and the aim was to accurately model the product with all relevant internal details, then to produce a full set of technical

    drawings, and a photo-realisc render.

Computer MouseThis project was used to learn advanced CAD modelling techniques in collaboraon with future technologies, such as 3D scanning

and addive manufacturing. A mouse was disassembled, reverse engineered and then the case redesigned, modelled and built.
