We calculated the relative customer satisfaction based on user reviews and scale based on market share, vendor size, and social impact to place products into four categories:
Leaders offer e-Signature products that are rated highly by G2 Crowd users and have substantial scale, market share, and global support and service resources.
High Performers provide products that are highly rated by their users, but have not yet achieved the market share and scale of the vendors in the Leader category.
Contenders have significant scale and resources, but their products have received below average user satisfaction ratings or have not yet received a sufficient number of reviews to validate their products.
Niche vendors do not have the scale and market share of the Leaders. They may have been rated positively on customer satisfaction, but have not yet received enough reviews to validate their success.
The table below shows the satisfaction and scale scores that determine vendor placement on the Grid. To learn more about each of the vendors please see the executive profiles in the next section.
* Indicates a best in category score The satisfaction score (1-100 scale) is calculated based on the average ratings from hundreds of real users completing a 45 question review survey about all aspects of a e-Signature vendor’s product, services, and support. We normalize the satisfaction scores relative to other scores within the same software category and on the number of valid reviews and ratings received. The scale score (1-100 scale) considers a vendor’s size, online and social presence, and market share, to determine the level of resources it can apply to product development and support. Adobe EchoSign Adobe EchoSign has been named a Leader based on receiving positive customer satisfaction ratings and the 2nd highest scale score in the e-signature category. 73% of Adobe EchoSign users rated it 4 or 5 stars (61 out of 83 ratings). 76% of customers would recommend the product to peers and 88% believe Adobe is taking the product in the right direction.
Adobe (NASDAQ: ADBE) is a global leader in digital media, digital marketing, and publishing software with over 14,000 employees and $4.4 billion in revenue. Adobe acquired EchoSign in 2011 to incorporate EchoSign into Adobe’s online document services. Adobe offers EchoSign globally as a cloud-based solution across industries and company sizes.
Adobe customers rated EchoSign 87% on its overall ability to meet e-Signature functional requirements, slightly below the average score of 92% for e-Signature providers, but high relative to other software categories. Users rated its core document signing capability highly with 97% satisfaction above the average of 94% across e-Signature providers. Mobile support was Abode’s lowest rated feature with only 79% satisfaction versus an average of 88% across all e-Signature providers. Across all other features and services, EchoSign received high satisfaction ratings between 86% and 92%.
DocuSign DocuSign has been named a Leader based on receiving high customer satisfaction ratings and the highest scale score. 86% of users rated it 4 or 5 stars (135 out of 157 ratings). With 157 ratings DocuSign was the most popular e-Signature tool amongst G2 Crowd users. 81% of customers would recommend it to peers and 76% believe it is headed in the right direction.
DocuSign provides cloud-based electronic signature technology that facilitates exchanges of contracts, tax documents, and legal materials. DocuSign is a privately held company with over 500 employees and is headquartered in San Francisco. It was founded in 2003 and has raised $116 million in venture capital to support its growth. DocuSign originally focused on real estate, but now serves both SMB and enterprise customers across industries with offices in the US and Europe.
Customers rated DocuSign at 88% on overall e-Signature functionality slightly below the industry average of 92%. Users rated DocuSign’s Integration APIs and Document Signing capabilities highly as they scored 92% and 93% respectively. DocuSign customers were least satisfied with DocuSign's reporting features at 76% (vs. average of 88%) and support at 77% (versus average of 92%). Across all other features, DocuSign reported positive satisfaction scores between 80% and 89%.
Silanis e-Sign Silanis e-Sign has been named a Leader based on receiving the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the e-signature category and an above average scale score. 100% of Silanis users gave it 4 and 5 star reviews (148 out of 148 ratings). 95% of customers would recommend the product to peers and 99% believe Silanis is taking the product in right direction.
Silanis provides e-signature solutions on-premise, cloud and SaaS, working with top North American banks, insurance companies and government agencies. Silanis is a privately held company headquartered in Montreal, Canada, with over 120 employees. It was founded in 1992 and continues to be run by its founders Tommy Petrogiannis and Michael Laurie. Silanis serves large enterprises as well as mid-sized companies primarily in North America.
G2 Crowd reviewers gave Silanis e-Sign a 93% score on overall e-signature functionality above the industry average of 92%. Users rated Silanis’ scalability and security particularly highly with its regulatory compliance and signature history/audit both rated at 97% (versus an average of 94%). Integration APIs were Silanis’ lowest rated feature, but still received an 88% satisfaction rating, just below the 91% average across all e-Signature providers. Across all other features, Silanis received very high satisfaction scores between 89% and 96%, which were the highest amongst all the Leaders.
AssureSign AssureSign has been named a Niche vendor based on receiving high customer satisfaction ratings and a low scale score. 93% of users rated it 4 or 5 stars (11 of 12 ratings). Not enough customer reviews were received to name AssureSign a High Performer. 88% of customers would recommend it to peers and 93% believe AssureSign is headed in right direction.
AssureSign is a provider of cloud-based electronic signature solutions, featuring patent-pending technology that allows for the execution of any document with forensically identifiable, biometric signatures or typed certified signatures. AssureSign is a privately held company headquartered in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The company was founded in 2008 and currently has 12 employees (on LinkedIn). AssureSign serves SMBs, mid-market, and enterprise customers primarily in North America.
G2 Crowd reviewers rated AssureSign 92% on overall e-signature functionality in line with the industry averages. Users rated AssureSign very highly on customer support (95%) and ease of doing business (96%). AssureSign customers were least satisfied with its ease of use and customer branding, which they still rated at 86% (vs. average of 90%). Across all other features and services, AssureSign received high satisfaction ratings, all between 88% and 97%.
RightSignature RightSignature has been named a Niche vendor based on receiving high customer satisfaction ratings and a low scale score. 92% of users rated it 4 or 5 stars (24 of 26 ratings). Not enough customer reviews were received to name it a High Performer. 86% of customers would recommend the product to peers and 85% believe it is taking the product in right direction.
RightSignature provides on premise and cloud-based electronic signature technology that facilitates exchanges of contracts, tax documents, and legal materials. RightSignature is a privately held company headquartered in Santa Barbara, CA. The company was founded in 2009 and currently has 12 employees (on LinkedIn). RightSignature’s serves primarily SMBs in North America (53% of customers have 1-50 employees), but also serves enterprises (20% of reviews w/ 1,000+ employees).
G2 Crowd reviewers rated RightSignature 91% on overall e-signature functionality in line with the industry average. Users rated RightSignature very highly on Ease of Set-up (95% vs. average of 90%) and Ease of Use (94% vs. average of 89%). RightSignature customers were least satisfied with its mobile support, which they still rated at 87% just below the industry average of 88%. Across all other features and services, RightSignature received high ratings all between 87-97%.
Sertifi Sertifi has been named a Niche vendor based on receiving high customer satisfaction ratings and a low scale score. 90% of users rated it 4 or 5 stars (24 of 27 ratings). Not enough customer reviews were received to name Sertifi a High Performer. 87% of customers would recommend the product to peers and 100% believe Sertifi is taking the product in the right direction.

Sertifi is a privately held company headquartered in Chicago. The company was founded in 2005 and currently has 12 employees (on LinkedIn). Sertifi serves SMBs, mid-market and enterprise customers across industries primarily in North America.
G2 Crowd reviewers rated Sertifi 93% on overall e-signature functionality just above the industry average of 92%. Users rated Sertifi very highly on ease of set-up and admin (97%), customer support *97%), and ease of doing business with (98%). Sertifi customers were least satisfied with its internationalization support, which they still rated at 87% just below the industry average of 89%. Across all features and services, Sertifi received high satisfaction ratings all between 90-98%.
E-Signature Market Definition E-Signature refers to software platforms designed to gather signatures without printing a document and physically signing. E-Signature software allows companies to reduce the cycle time to gather signatures as well as reduce costs of gathering and storing signatures on paper.

Grid Scoring Methodology G2 Crowd rates products and vendors based on ratings and reviews gathered from our user community, as well as data aggregated from online sources and social networks. Number of employees for product and parent company (based on social networks and public sources)
Market share based on share of voice including number of ratings and reviews received
Vendor momentum based on web traffic and Google search trends
Product social impact based on Klout score and Twitter followers
Vendor social impact based on Klout score, Twitter, and LinkedIn followers
Revenue and year over year revenue growth rate (if available)
Age of company (number of years in operation)
Employee satisfaction and engagement (based on social network ratings)
Rating Changes and Dynamics The ratings in this report are based on a snapshot of the user reviews and social data collected by G2 Crowd up to August 18, 2013. The ratings may change as the products are further developed, the vendors grow, and as additional opinions are shared by users. G2 Crowd updates the ratings on its website in real-time as additional data is received, and we will update this report at least once per quarter. By improving their products and support and/or by having more satisfied customer voices heard, challengers may become leaders and laggards may become innovators.
Trust Keeping our ratings unbiased is our top priority. We require the use of a LinkedIn account to validate a G2 Crowd user’s identity and employer. We do not allow users to rate their employer’s products or those of their employer’s competitors. Though we share reviews from business partners (they often contain valuable content), we filter out business partner ratings in our aggregate ratings to avoid bias.
Our G2 Crowd staff does not add any subjective input to the ratings, which are determined algorithmically based on data aggregated from publicly available online sources and social networks. Vendors cannot influence their ratings by spending time or money with us. Only the opinion of real users and data from public sources factor into the ratings. Grid Inclusion Criteria All products in a G2 Crowd category that have at least 10 reviews/ratings from real users of the product will be included in the Grid. Inviting other users, such as colleagues and peers to join G2 Crowd and share authentic product reviews will accelerate this process.

E-Signature Satisfaction Ratings G2 Crowd users rated e-Signature software vendors ability to satisfy their needs as shown in the table below. Average satisfaction levels across categories were high across all vendors in the range of 88% to 93%. Users validated that these providers meet their functionality requirements at high levels between 87% and 93%. These scores are high relative to other software categories rated by G2 Crowd users, indicating that all of these e-Signature vendors do a good job of fulfilling their users’ core requirements and support needs.
Silanis received the highest customer satisfaction ratings with 95% of customers likely to recommend the product and earning a very high Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 88. Docusign earned the 2nd highest satisfaction score amongst the leaders with 81% of customers likely to recommend the product and earning an NPS score of 36. Adobe earned a positive NPS score, but on average their users were not quite as satisfied. All three niche vendors (RightSignature, Sertifi, and AssureSign) earned high satisfaction and NPS scores from their smaller customer bases indicating that they do a good job meeting their customers needs.
E-Signature Product Feature Comparison G2 Crowd users have evaluated the e-Signature software features vendors by functional category. The results are shown below for vendors with the highest G2 scores and at least 10 reviews and ratings.
In the table below, the same feature ratings are provided numerically. A 100% is equivalent to a full bubble in the chart above and means all of users who rated the features gave the product a 7/7 rating on this dimension.
All e-signature vendors have high fulfillment of the requirements relative to other enterprise software categories. Of the Leaders Silanis earned the highest average feature sat rating at 94%, while Adobe and Docusign earned high scores of 89% and 87% respectively. RightSignature, Sertifi, and AssureSign all received very high ratings between 93-95% from their enthusiastic (albeit smaller) customer bases. Customer Segments Served As show in the table below, e-Signature vendors serve a range of small, mid-market, and enterprise customers.
Deployment and Implementation 85% of e-Signature solutions are deployed as SaaS (software as a service) solutions in the cloud. AssureSign and Right Signature only offer cloud solutions.
e-Signature solutions can be deployed quickly with an average implementation time of 1.6 months. 87% are implemented by in-house teams. All Right Signature customers reported deploying on the same day. Implementations for vendors such as Silanis that serve larger enterprises with more complex needs can take longer and may require external professional services support from the vendor or third party firms.
E-Signature User Adoption Levels and ROI G2 Crowd reviewers shared their average adoption levels and payback. Adoption across the vendors averaged 77% indicating a high level of e-Signature acceptance, although not all end users can be converted immediately.
A fast payback was reported for all solutions in the range of 6-13 months with an average payback of 9 months. This validates the high value of implementing an e-Signature solution to automate manual contract signing and management processes thereby reducing selling and contract administration costs.
