Grade 1 French in a French Immersion Setting January: What are we reading in French? January: What are we Writing in French? Home-school partnerships are vital to the positive development of a child. How can you help your Kindergarten child to be ready for grade 1? Read with your child Build strong, positive attitudes about math. When children feel positively engaged and successful, they are more likely to stick with an activity or a problem to find a solution. Students attitudes have a significant effect on how they approach problem solving and how well they succeed in mathematics. Begin with activities that meet your childs level of mathematical understanding. Early success in solving problems will build your childs confidence. Ask them If you and your child are more comfortable in a language other than English, use it. Your child will understand concepts better in the language that he or she knows best. Participate in Mathematics Learning Reporting in Grade 1 November Progress Report Indicates how the child is progressing in subject areas (PWD, PW, PVW) and in Learning Skills (Responsibility, Independent Work, Initiative, Organization, Collaboration, and Self-Regulation) N, S, G, E February and June Report Cards: Learning Skills as above and letter grades for subjects Studying in French or English can be a lot of fun Conversations with the SK classroom teacher and consideration of your childs learning strengths and needs are important factors to consider.
