Both the titles of the band and the album are placed at the top of the poster and in a large font, drawing a reader’s attention to this information.

Most of the space on the advert is taken up by an image of a sideways pointing tree, with bones hanging from its branches. The angle of the tree may be used to emphasise the title of the album ‘Opposites’, whilst the bones connote death and may be used to highlight that rock music isn’t dead.

The background of the advert is of a western theme, as it has a desert setting and mountains in the background. This is a perfect backdrop in which to place the dead tree and bones, perhaps emphasising the point that their music isn’t dead, that it’s full of feeling.

The words ‘New Double Album’ are in a large font, attracting the reader’s attention, suggesting it’s a selling point for the band.

Beneath this title of ‘Double Album’, the most popular tracks on the album are named.

Critical responses are placed at the bottom of the advert, from sources relevent to the image of the band, e.g. Xfm.

Website and logo for the band. An audience can find out more about them.

Institutional information given through the logos for Warner Brothers and 14th Floor Records. The association with Warner Brothers shows convergence, as WB typically produces films.

It may be interpreted that the tree has been blown over by the force of the band’s music, both emphasising the genre of their music, rock, and the power of their music.
