The most exciting and prestigious event in the British pop music calendarcomes around again in February. James Corden returns as host for a thirdconsecutive year, with the ceremony now settled into its new home ofLondon’s O2 Arena after relocating from Earl’s Court in 2011. Piers Morgan’s Life Stories returns for its ninth serieswith more fascinating guests who have a story to tell.The previous series was both interesting and revealing,beginning with the veteran British actor Sir RogerMoore. Other guests included Dame Kelly Holmes,Denise Welch, Ronan Keating, Felicity Kendal and BurtReynolds. This series has established itself as one ofTV’s most revealing talk shows, with the format of oneguest per programme offering viewers a chance to findout what makes those famous people tick.The first person in the new series is Esther Rantzen,who began her career with the BBC as a trainee studiomanager. She came to prominence as presenter of thefrequently hilarious That’s Life!, which ran for 21 yearson BBC1, turning her into a national figure. She opens up about her affair with her boss at the BBC,Desmond Wilcox – a relationship which turned into a marriage lasting more than 20 years – andhow his early death left her bereft. Setin London in 1909, the show explores not onlythe rise of the flamboyant tycoon but also a timewhen women were enjoying a new sense offreedom, campaigning for the vote and kickingover the traces of Victorian morality andconformity.While visiting Selfridges for a book signing, thedistinguished author and spiritualist Sir ArthurConan Doyle (John Sessions) persuades Harryto hold a séance in the store. Harry and Crabb(Ron Cook) are working on a potentially lucrativestock issue from the bank, with the help of LadyMae and Musker (Tim Woodward). Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley present the seventh roundof live shows. This year’s competitors – Pamela Anderson, ShayneWard, Anthea Turner, Keith Chegwin, Beth Tweddle, LukeCampbell, Matt Lapinskas, Samia Ghadie (pictured), LaurenGoodger, Oona King, Joe Pasquale, and Gareth Thomas, workingunder the watchful eyes of figure skating legends Jayne Torvill andChristopher Dean – have been wowing audiences with theirimpressive advancement from novice to semi-professional level.There was early disappointment for the female contestants,however, as Pamela Anderson, Lauren Goodger, Oona King andAnthea Turner crashed out of the competition within the first fourweeks. In week five, it was finally the boys’ turn as Shayne Wardbecame the first male to skate out of the show. Despite scoringhigh with the judges, both he and bookies’ favourite Matt Lapinskasfailed to garner enough public votes to ensure their safety, leadingto an emotional and unexpected skate-off showdown. As thecompetition marches towards the final, the skate-offs will becomemore nerve-racking than ever, as witnessed in week three when Oona’s professional partner MarkHanretty took a painful tumble. Judge Jason Gardiner went as far as calling it the most dramaticskate-off ever. Joining Jason on the judging panel are Robin Cousins and Karen Barber, togetherwith new judge Ashley Roberts.

Conservationist and enthusiast for all thingsoutdoors Ray Mears continues his travelsaround Britain, investigating the local flora andfauna. This episode finds him in the remote Islesof Scilly. Lying 28 miles off the Cornish coast,

the islands are regularly battered by theferocious Atlantic winds but actually boast someof the mildest temperatures in Britain, makingthem an ideal habitat for some species of wildlifenormally associated with warmer climes. Exotic

plants like the South African Hottentot figthrive here. The islands are also home toone of the rarest species of insect on theplanet, the red barbed ant. Ray hooks upwith entomologist Ian Beavis, who showshim where to find this elusive creature.Feeling peckish, Ray harvests some limpetsand cooks an alfresco risotto for lunch. Theabundance of insects means that migrantbirds also use the islands as a source ofsustenance. Barn swallows find them aperfect stop-off as they make their way tothe mainland to breed. As night falls, Rayhas a delightful encounter with a hedgehog.

Will he be able to land any of his 30 girls theirdream guy from this week’s quartet of eligible bachelors?The single, sassy and often rather kooky ladies will bewaiting patiently, hoping to be impressed by whoevercomes down the famous love lift. The gents do all theycan to dazzle the girls with an insight into their lives,quirks, passions and skills, but will this gathering ofpotential suitors be as hard to please as some of those inprevious series? supernatural drama series setin an upmarket New York Cityapartment building. Withechoes of the film Rosemary’sBaby, the series follows acouple, Jane Van Veen(Rachael Taylor) and HenryMartin (Dave Annable), as theymove into The Drake, anapartment complex onManhattan’s Upper East Side.The series opens with Janeand Henry being hired asbuilding managers, andeverything seems normal untilJane begins having strangedreams, meets one of thetenants with blood all over him,and discovers a mysteriousdragon mosaic in thebasement. Henry and Janeboth try to form a friendship

with the owners of the building,Olivia and Gavin Doran(Vanessa Williams and TerryO’Quinn), but it soon becomesapparent that they areharbouring some dark secrets.The other tenants at The Drakebelieve that their dreams arecoming true, unaware of thedark forces around them andnot realising that their goodfortune comes at a price. Lesley Sharp and Andrew Lincoln star in this six-part drama series about a woman with psychicpowers and the academic who becomes involved with her. In the first episode, More Than Meetsthe Eye, psychology lecturer and psychic mediums specialist Robert Bridge (Lincoln) decides totake his students to a clairvoyance evening, where he meets troubled psychic Alison Mundy(Sharp). Robert is deeply sceptical of psychics and their abilities, but he soon realises that Alison isa far cry from the fraudulent practitioners that he is used to. Ever since she was a child Alison hasseen spirits, and after a near-death experience they are beginning to take over her life. She movedto Bristol in an attempt to start afresh, but the move has not worked out, and as she lies awake at

night Alison cannot escape thevoices that cry out to her. WhenAlison’s readings provoke anadverse reaction in one ofRobert’s students he begins tostudy her with the intention ofwriting a book about her. ButRobert is completely thrown whenAlison claims to see the spirit ofhis own son Josh, who was killedin a car accident four years earlier.

With the group stages completed, the EuropaLeague returns to ITV4 following a brief breakin proceedings. There is still plenty of Britishinterest left in the competition as it reaches theknockout stages, with Liverpool, TottenhamHotspur and Newcastle all qualifying from theirgroups. They are joined by Chelsea, followingtheir elimination from the Champions League.The round of 32 is played over two legs, withthe possibility of extra time and penalties ifthere is no conclusive result after 90 minutes inthe second leg. Liverpool face a tough drawagainst FC Zenit St Petersburg and Chelseawill be hoping to put aside their earlier disappointments in Europe by defeating Prague’s AC Sparta.This week ITV4 are showing live coverage of a second leg tie as Newcastle face Ukrainianopposition in Metalist Kharkiv and Tottenham travel to France for their second leg match againstLyon. Spurs will be hoping that Jermain Defoe will have recovered from his ankle injury, as theFrench side will prove to be tough opposition on their home turf. Lyon won their group veryimpressively, remaining unbeaten and dropping only two points in their six games.

This feature film is based onthe acclaimed series aboutmembers of a boy band whoare trying to make it big in themusic industry. Kendall(Kendall Schmidt), James(James Maslow), Carlos(Carlos Pena Jr) and Logan(Logan Henderson) are on aplane to London for the start of

their world tour, with Gustavo(Stephen Kramer Glickman),Kelly (Tanya Chisholm), Katie(Ciara Bravo) and Mrs Knight(Challen Cates) tagging along.On the flight, Carlos fallsasleep and dreams that theband are secret agents, savingthe world and rescuing aprincess. When he tries to tellthe others about his vision,however, they are notinterested. Gustavo is moreworried about the bandbehaving themselves inEngland and issues a sternwarning when they get to theirhotel. Matters soon get out ofcontrol, however, whenKendall realises that he iscarrying an unfamiliarbackpack. Curiosity gets thebetter of him and he has a look

inside, to find a beetle-shapedgravitational device. Soon theboys are floating in the airaround their suite, and thingsonly get weirder when a girlcalled Penny Lane (EmmaLahana) crashes through thewindow. She tells them that sheis a spy and the bag belongs toher. Penny warns them that asmoothie in a white tuxedo isintent on destroying the moon,and she needs the band’s help.James develops a bit of a crushon the girl, but this appears notto be reciprocated. Meanwhile,Katie is trying to fix her motherup with the Duke of Bath sothat she can realise herambition of becoming aprincess. Piece by piece, itseems that Carlos’s dream iscoming true.

Lisa’s attempts to keep Belle out of mischief by giving her a list of chores to do at home fail whenBelle and Gemma head off to the café to meet Thomas and Sean. Hostilities break out on her returnhome as Lisa and Zak confiscate her mobile. Belle turns contrite, but then her parents find some

rather disturbing pictures on the phone and realise that they cannottrust her at all. Cain and Chas make peace but he insists thatDebbie is not to know that they are back on good terms. Moiratakes her car to the garage where Cain makes a shockingadmission – but how is Adam going to take the news? Charitystarts flirting with Declan, but he has seen through her plan tocheat him on the deal. A flaming row ensues, but the fire turns topassion and the pair end up in bed together. In their moment oflustful abandon, Declan misses a very important message from

Robbie on the answer machine. Edna’s money troubles grow steadily worse when she learns thatneeds a new roof. Rhona is fed up with Paddy hanging around and getting under their feet at thesurgery, and Marlon finds himself with an unwanted kitchen hand, who expects to be paid. Rubysuggests that Sean take on the role of Sandy’s carer and the pair bond while hanging out at Seth’shide. Bob is disappointed when Brian asks Brenda out and she accepts.

Gail confronts Kylie after discovering a piece of paper with her bank details on it. Kylie admits thatLewis blackmailed her into helping him as he knew that the baby might not be David’s. Worriedabout what will happen next, Kylie goes off the rails and ends up getting drunk, leading to anaccident which puts her and her unborn baby in danger. When Gailfinds out the whole truth – that Nick could be the baby’s father –she is faced with a dilemma. Gloria returns from Portugal with anew fiancé, Eric. Stella stuns Gloria with news of her relationshipwith Jason and makes it known to Eric that her mother is a gold-digger. Eric soon turns his attention to Eva, lavishing her with giftsand offering to take her away with him. Faye is upset to learn thatTim is planning to move away to Kent for work, but she is thrilledwhen he manages to land a job with Jason. Owen tries to put astop to the plan, but fails and and ends up feeling pushed out once again. Izzy tackles Anna for notrealising how hurt Owen is by the situation. Mandy finally moves in with Lloyd, but he manages tolose her pet tortoise and ends up taking extreme measures in an attempt to replace it without herfinding out. Katy reconnects with old friends and Chesney encourages her to let her hair down for afriend’s 18th birthday. Ryan’s good looks and DJ-ing skills impress Katy’s mates, but it seems thathe has his sights set on Katy.
