Bio Group …….making a difference
Bio Group – the Background • Group’s origins go back 12 years
• We de-engineered waste technology to work in the UK
• We built more commercial composting plants in the UK than any other company
• 5 years ago we started R&D in our own AD process
• AD is the most efficient way of keeping food waste from landfill
• We have started a national roll out of our technology

Pioneering biomethane • We have always believed in doing things our way and investing
in our own technology
• As a small business we have kept funds in the business and invested nearly £1.5m in our R&D program
• The production of biomethane for grid injection was an obvious solution
• Maximises energy
• Allows storage
• Allows flexibility
• But it has been a long and challenging journey

Adnams Bio Energy – 4 years in the making
• ABE started in our R&D unit 5 years ago
• The project itself started in 2008 in London
• The aim was to build the UK’s first AD plant built to put green gas into the National Grid system
• We combined our new technologies with new gas upgrade and injection technologies
• Working closely with National Grid and others, the rules have been changed to move to cost effective gas injection

Fairfield Bio Energy - Manchester
• FBE is our second plant and is commissioning
• It is a JV with British Gas
• Plant will be fully operational by this summer
• Key difference is it is built on a former landfill
• It is also in the middle of an Industrial Park
• Twice the size of ABE

• The third project • Gas to Grid, but will also provide for onsite private
electricity use • PV already on site
• Opportunities to develop in conjunction with nearby future eco housing project

Biomethane going forward
We have come a very long way, but we are not there yet We need more simplification –
Of process Of equipment
We need the capital costs to continue to fall, upgrade kit is still too expensive as is the
injection kit We have to find an alternative to propanation – it’s a fossil fuel!!
