Biograte combustion technology

Biograte is a patented rotating grate with a conical primary combustion chamber. The fuel is fed from underneath to the center of the grate. It dries in the middle of the grate from the heat that radiates from the refractory lining bricks and flames without disturbing the burning fuel bed in the combustion zone. After the complete combustion of the fuel, remaining ash falls from the grate into an ash space filled with quenching water.

Main features:

» Highly efficient combustion minimizes unburned

carbon in ashes and reduces flue gas emissions

» Smooth fuel feeding with a stoker screw in the

center of the grate

» Controlled primary air distribution through grate

plates enables low emissions

» Safe wet bottom ash removal

» Flue gas recirculation for grate cooling

» No cold corners thanks to the conical design

» High combustion efficiency

» Suitable for high-moisture fuels, especially when

compared with traditional designs

» Low auxiliary power consumption

» Low minimum load

Unicon Pellet is an environmentally friendly plant solution to balance peak loads in district heating, to act as a backup plant or to generate process steam. Our solutions support the production of renewable energy, providing improved cost-effectiveness for municipalities, industries and service providers. The Unicon Pellet plant solution considerably reduces CO2 -emissions.

We offer Unicon Pellet plant solutions ranging from 3 to 25 MWth / boiler.

The pellet plant solution utilizes existing technologies to form a new combination of pulverized combustion technology and traditional water or steam boiler technologies. The wood powder burner is a so-called multi-fuel burner, which can be fired with gas or oil in addition to wood powder if necessary. The boiler can be either a fire-tube boiler or a water-tube boiler, depending on the intended use of the plant.

13

The advantages of pellets

Pellet prices remain competitive compared to fossil fuels, which are more sensitive to market fluctuations.

Startup of a pellet-fired plant is quick and easy, and it reacts quickly to load changes.

High energy density of pellets enables simple fuel logistics, which reduces the environmental impact.

A pellet-fired plant is a green choice. Replacing an existing solution with a pellet plant signifi-cantly reduces CO2 -emissions.

Pellet technology makes it possible to utilize renewable fuels in the form of wood pellets or briquettes.
