Meaning :O Lord Ganesha, of curved trunk, large body, and with the brilliance of a million Suns, please make all my works free of obstacles, always.A symbol of wisdom and good luck, Lord Ganesha is the most worshiped Hindu God. Regarded as the reliever of all obstacles, Lord Ganesha’s photos, idols and other decorative items find a prominent place in most Hindu households as well as work place. Any festive occasion or new beginning starts with offering of prayers to Lord Ganesha. Marking the birth of the Lord of Wisdom is the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, which is celebrated across the country for 10 days during the Hindu month of Bhadrapada with fervor and grandeur. The excitement begins months in advance as artists sculpt countless idols of Lord Ganesha in different poses, colours and sizes. Populace in gallant numbers gear up to welcome their favourite Lord with decorations and an array of sweets, especially the signature mithai – modak. After days of celebration with family and friends, this 10 day long festival ends on Anant Chaturdarshi with immersion of Ganesha idols in the sea (or water) led by a procession of bells, drums and music. In an emotional moment, devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha by chanting the slogans of Ganapati Bapa Moriya, Forcha Varshi Laukariya (All Hail Ganesha - and request him to return again the next year) while Ganesha is being taken for Visarjan or immersion. It is believed that Lord Ganesha himself descends on Earth to bless his devotees on this day and anyone who worships him during this time is certain to find success in whatever he endeavours. Abiding to the divine ideology of assimilating all our prospective happenings with trumping success - This year, RCRG family too, will be whole heartedly /earnestly inviting Lord Ganesha to our Rotary Bhavan for three days from 13th of September to 15th of September – with lot of vehemence, sumptuousness, enthusiasm, celebration and deep seated devotion – through a chaste belief of Lord Ganesha rendering all our service oriented activities free of impediments-deterrent – and blessing us with immense dedication and determination to rise beyond all obstacles and serve humanity above self.

Review of Tambola And Lucky Bonanza. “Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply doesn’t know where to shop and bargain your price.” Shopping is always a good idea. It is like a retail therapy. – Shopping is an art – So don’t blame all the shopaholic ladies out there– They are artist. Generally, “Men go shopping to buy – what they need – Whereas women go shopping to find out what they need?” That is the reason we women are so well versed or I should say aware of the product prizing as well as product quality. An Indian television entertainment show - famed in Early 90s. – Tol Mol ke Bol – urged the contestants to guess the prizes/actual amount of the household products and groceries used in day to day routine– winning them huge gift hampers for the correct estimation of the prize. LUCKY BONANZA – A replica of this celebrated show was conducted by Ann Roopa Nagrecha at the RCRG Bhavan - on the quiz night – thoroughly entertaining all the members present at the event. The lucky quiz drill was kick started off with the recitation of Rotary prayer by Ann Vidhi Nathwani. Three rounds of LUCK BONANZA were then played wherein the players had been selected randomly by drawing a shit with the names of members on it – from the bowl. The winners of these rounds were Ann Darshna Gandhi and Ann Swati Mehta. The conquering champion of the jackpot was Ann Geeta Kothari – bagging in gift hamper worth almost Rs 5000 at the terminus of the game show. The succeeding element of this very amusing and entertaining drill night was hosted by Ann Dipti Pabari. She entertained everyone with Monsoon special – Playing cards themed Tambola or Housie. Seven prizewinners for the same had been affirmed – 4 suits ( spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs) and 3 full housie. The stars of the 4 suits were Rtn. Ashwin Lodhiya, Rtn. Dinesh Patel, Rtn Mehul Nathwani and Ann Nitika Nandani. The highfliers – the victors of 3 full housie were – Rtn Virendra Kothari, Annet Rishi Patel and Annet Jiya Nathwani. All these luminaries of Tambola received Silver coins as the accolade for winning the game. The entire brainy and fun filled buzz was very engaging and everyone enjoyed meticulously through the dusk. It left an everlasting remembrance in everyone’s mind testifying their wits in generality. To finish, Rtn Ravi Chhotai proposed the vote of thank – calling for the end of the session.

RCC – Thepla Distribution in Slum AreaWe are a country that prides itself on power and wealth, yet there are millions of children who sleep hungry every day. It is our responsibility, not only as a nation – not only as a service based organization - but also as individuals to get involved- on a higher memorandum evolving from none other issue as important as – “Food predicament amidst poor children” i.e. “working to see that no child goes hungry in this world”. Beholding liability to this concern – RCC took an initiative of distributing hygienically prepared food (Thepla) to the deprived brood of Slum locale near Airport premises in Rajkot vicinity.

RCC - Tree plantation at Matushri Virbaima Mahila (MVM) Arts College for Girls“Plant a tree, Grow a flower – Lets give mother earth back her Power”. Truly speaking, reversing deforestation is complicated for human beings but - Planting a tree is simple.” Such an exceptional reflection to encourage tree plantation in the locality had been yet again under taken by RCC at the premises of MVM Arts College for Girls. Alongside the RCC team, the students and professors of MVM College also participated in the tree plantation drive – doing an awe-inspiring work of planting a novel optimism/ rosiness with every new sapling.

Club NewsContribution to heavy downpour incapacitated humanity- As per member's suggestion, in past few weeks we were allocating needful resources or

providing helping hand to Kerala relief funds for flood stricken populace and were in continuous contact with District Governor of Cochin Rotary Club.

In a recent conversation with Rotary Club of Cochin related to the situation there and their current requirements, we were informed that, as of now all they needed was cleaning materials. Bank details were shared by them. We were requested to transfer funds for purchasing cleaning materials, as sending cleaning supplies somatically would have been a monotonous task at both the ends. Like anticipated, members of RCRG donated generously and we were able raise Rs 2,61000 –for this righteous – humanitarian purpose. Rtn Mehul Nathani and Rtn Nilesh Bhojani upheld a vital responsibility of reaching out to the members and inspiring/ encouraging them to bigheartedly- generously bequeath for the compassionate cause. Sincere and cordial admiration is rendered to RCRG members for raising a colossal amount in a diminutive epoch of instant.“The measure of life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation. You are not important because of how long do you live, you are important because of how effective you live.”
