Brothers!
May 2, 2005 is World Day of Prayer
for Vocations. The Knights has a
long tradition of promoting
vocations to the priest-hood and
religious life. I am proud our
Council has started its own
tradition by being involved in the
Refund Support
Vocations Program
(RSVP). Please
remember
vocations in you
daily prayers,
especially Monday
May 2nd. Please also keep Pablo
Hernandez (our RSVP candidate) in
your prayers as he continues his
journey toward priesthood.
Dale Anderson, Chancellor
Dear Brothers,
First, I would like to
thank all of you for your
thoughts and prayers during
Rosemary’s pregnancy and the
meals and gifts you sent over
following the birth of our daugh-
ter, Catherine Rose. The out-
pouring of support from all of
you has been a big blessing.
Having four young children in
the house is very draining at
times. Your support has helped
to make it more manageable for
us.
I don’t know about you,
but I’m pretty pumped up from
the glorious days of Holy Week.
This season has become one of
renewal for me since I completed
the RCIA process six years ago.
With a new baby and trying to
keep a fledgling business going,
the celebration of Easter gives
me the Hope that I need to keep
me going.
MSA Walk—April 23rd
MSA is an autonomic neuro-
degenerative disease that effects
about one million people in the
US, including our Brother
Knight Bob Miller. Bob has
been very instrumental in bring-
ing attention to this disease in
the Louisville area and helps
plan the annual MSA Walk, a
key fundraiser for them. Regis-
tration will be @ 8:30 a.m. Sat-
urday, April 23rd at Tom Saw-
yer Park. The walk starts and
ends at Shelter #1 right near the
park’s main entrance. There
will be refreshments, door prizes
and a silent auction. I strongly
encourage you to come out to
support your fellow Brother.
Nomination of Officers
Since I will be “retiring”
from the office of Grand Knight,
that means a lot of change this
year. Also, Joe Wise Jr. is trans-
ferring to Newman Council so
the office of Trustee II is open.
And we still have an opening for
the Lector position. If you, or
someone you know, is interested
in becoming an officer and would
like to learn more, please give
me or one of the Trustees a call.
Social Meetings
Hopefully you’ve noticed
that we now have regularly
scheduled Open Meetings on the
third Wednesday of every month
now. These are great opportuni-
ties to get to know your fellow
Brothers and their wives, chil-
dren and prospects. The content
of these meetings is only limited
by our imaginations. I need
some help to put on these meet-
ings each month. If you have an
idea for a meeting, or would like
to help out for one of the meet-
ings, please let me know.
Founder’s Day Dinner/Dance
The joint Fr. Diersen/
Bishop Flaget team has struck
again. They’ve planned a terri-
fic event for Saturday night,
April 9th at Bethany Hall at Im-
maculate Conception Church.
Thirty-six people have signed up
to attend! This has been a great
partnership with our neighbor-
ing council. You can look for-
ward to more collaboration in
the future.
I wish you all a terrific Easter
Season and I pray that all of you
remain safe over Spring Break.
God bless, Tom Blocher, GK

Special Olympics of Kentucky
Plane Pull Plans have already started for 2005!
Even though this event is six months away, efforts to in-
clude all nine area councils is progressing. This years goal is
to raise $14,000 for SOKY.
I have visited Monsignor Newman and Fr. Diersen councils
and have commitments from both. I have Bishop Spalding,
St Joseph and Pope John Councils scheduled for April. The
month of May I have St Louis Bertrand and Assumption
councils scheduled. I am waiting for Holy Innocents’ council
to contact me for the OK to visit them.
Our goal is to compete for top fundraising team, with all
Louisville councils participating, there is no reason why we
cannot obtain this goal. If each council raises $1,500, we will
succeed. Last year 2 Knights on our team combined for
$1,200 in a short time, with a little more effort our council
will meet it goal. I hope everyone will either support with
contributions or help with planned fundraisers, more on this
later.
Our last years team had a great time as they watched others
compete and really got in the Plane Pull Spirit. I invite eve-
ryone to come and cheer our team to victory! The event will
again be in September at KY National Guard off Grade
Lane. I will keep you updated on the event and fundraising
opportunities.
Dale Anderson, Chancellor
Brothers!
I am still looking for a brother or two to join me on the
Recruitment Team as I need both assistance and new
ideas on increasing our membership. If you would like
to help, please call me before the April meeting. I prom-
ise there will be no additional meetings required!

Chuck Durbin Trustee I and Membership Director
There’s a simple – and
painless – way to increase the
amount of your permanent life insur-
ance coverage. How? Simply use your
policy dividend to purchase paid-up
additions. When you
choose this dividend
option, your dividend
becomes a single pre-
mium that purchases
additional insurance
on your life. How
much depends on
your age: A $500 dividend will buy
more insurance if you’re 25 than if
you’re 50.
Over time, the increase in
your policy’s face value – the amount
you’re insured for – can increase sub-
stantially. What’s more, your paid-up
additions build cash value and are
eligible to receive dividends, beyond
that of the base policy and with no
current tax liability. (Remember that
dividends are not guaranteed.)
Regardless of your current
health, paid-up additions are pur-
chased at a standard rate. An addi-
tional note - at any time while your
policy is in effect, you can change the
way your dividends are paid to you.
The other dividend options are:
* Leaving them on deposit to
accumulate interest.
* Taking them as a cash pay-
ment.
* Applying your dividend to
pay all or part of your premium.
As your field agent, it’s my
job to help you to understand the
options available to you – and to help
you to make any changes
in your coverage. Just give
me a call.
Fraternally,
Dan Turnwald
Field Agent

phone at (859) 331-0238 or by e-
mail at [email protected].)

Hopscotch Courts—April 9th
Brother Knights, we have
been asked by the teachers and
PTO of St Patrick School to make
some four square and hopscotch
courts for the school children so
that they can enjoy recess more. I
have volunteered to lead this
project. This
project will
involve painting
lines in the St
Patrick parking
lot so that the
courts are
permanent.
This project will take place
on Saturday April 9. We will start
at about 8:30 AM and with enough
volunteers we should be able to
finish up within a couple of
hours. If you would like to help
with this project please let me
know via e-mail at
[email protected] so I can
plan accordingly.
3rd Annual Founder’s Day
Dinner/Dance—April 9th:
This event has always been a fun
time out. This year, we are joining
forces with Fr. William Diersen
council and will be even bigger and
grander.
Mark your calendar now and plan
to take your date to a night of food
and dancing and to just relax and
have some fun with your Brother
Knights.
MSA Walk—April 23rd
Help promote awareness of MSA
and other autonomic neuro-
degenerative diseases that affect
millions of Americans, including
our own Brother Knight, Bob
Miller.
Bob has been a key figure in
promoting awareness of these
diseases both locally and
nationally. The walk will be held
at Tom Sawyer Park. Registration
begins at 8:30 am at the pavilion.
Bring the entire family. There will
be refreshments, door prizes and a
silent auction. Donations accepted.
For more info call Judy Miller at
253-9379.
