We took our Chapter Meeting Team and four other regional contest winners to compete in Parliamentary Procedure, Prepared Public speaking, and sheep, swine, and fruit and veg- etable impromptus. Former chapter President Sarai Wethington represented our chapter as a state officer candi- date. In July the chapter took 18 members to the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center. We had a fun-filled week, but also very productive. The chapter members set goals that we wanted to achieve throughout the year. Casey County then headed up to the Kentucky State Fair in August to compete in Livestock and Dairy Judging, placing 28th and 15th, respectively. We lent a helping hand to the Casey County Pork Producers in September, during the 37th Annual Casey County Apple Festival. The members signed up and took shifts in helping cook and serve pork burgers. October was a busy month for the chapter. Four junior mem- bers competed in the Land Judging Competition and took home 5th place. The chapter officers traveled to Indianapolis to the National FFA Convention. Sarai Wethington also com- peted in the National Prepared Public Speaking Contest. On October 28th and 29th, our members volunteered hours to help with the 2nd Annual Casey County Heritage Days. We led tours, ran the petting zoo, and assisted the vendors who needed help. Committee chairs volunteered on Friday, as our officers were traveling home from Indiana. Casey County took 40 members to the North American Livestock Show and Rodeo on November 11th. December was a cold month, but it didn’t slow our annual fruit sales. Casey County FFA members sold more than 2,300 boxes of citrus fruit from Florida Fruit Association. These fruit sales are our #1 fundraiser. The New Year brought more opportunities to our members. In January Advisor Alan Godbey took 10 members to the 212 Degree Conference in Richmond. The members learned lead- ership qualities from the National FFA Association. This month, the chapter will be sell- ing strawberries and working on boards. Casey County will host the 2nd Annual Lake Cumberland Regional FFA Prep Day on March 3rd. All chapters in the region (plus Lincoln County as they join us next year!) are invited to attend. On this day, the FFA members run through their competitions and our volunteer judges will offer positive criticism to help prepare the mem- bers for Regional FFA Day, which is later in the month. Also, our Secretary’s Book and Treasurer’s Book will be sent for regional grading, as Allison Ware runs for Regional Officer at the Lake Cumberland Regional Paperwork Day. Cooperating with other organizations and businesses and building a great chapter with great leaders is something that our chapter has always been passionate about. We have accomplished many goals and plan to achieve many more throughout this year, and the years to come. Thank you for supporting the Casey County FFA Chapter!
