I would like to welcome the management, players and supporters from Curtin University FC for today’s games. We hope you enjoy your stay.

The club would like to welcome all the new players and coaches that have joined our great club, we hope you have an enjoyable time with the black and greens. Aleks Vrteski and his players made sure of great start to the season last week, with a big 5-0 win over Amateur League club East Perth. We have been drawn away to NPL-WA powerhouse club Inglewood United in the next round. This game will be played on Easter Monday, we hope to see all our supporters there.

We would like to welcome our new Reserves coach Tony Rebeiro, who also made a great start to their season with a 5-4 win against Ashfield in their cup fixture. They will now go on to meet NPL-WA side Armadale in the next round. Gary Shorto has been appointed Under 18's coach and has worked hard behind the scenes to get this squad ready for today's big game against Curtin.

Congratulatons to "The Australian Mining Review", who won the raffle to become naming rights sponsors of our junior Fee Free Football program. Our FFF program is now into it's second year, and it is credit to our hard working committee and volunteers that FFF has the success it has. Good luck to everyone involved in our juniors and we hope you have a great season.

A special mention to our very hard working President Ken Shorto and all those that help behind the scenes to make our club run smoothly. We wouldn't have a club without you all.

FFA CUP - ROUND THREE REVIEW

There were some great games over the weekend with FFA Cup WA third round games taking place around WA. Joondalup

United scored two late goals to beat North Perth United 2-0 at Forrest Park. It was a tense affair with chances at both ends

but three minutes from time the home side found the opener. A well worked move down the left ended with a cross to

James Oldroyd who headed home at the back post. They sealed the tie sixty seconds later, Jake Cherrie forced a defensive

mistake which was pounced on by Scott Hoyle, who finished clinically. "A well organised and physical North Perth team

gave us a real challenge," Joondalup United coach Nick Jennings said. "I told the boys it would be a game of few chances

and we had to remain patient and not become frustrated. To our credit we kept going despite suffering a number of

injuries and were rewarded with the two late goals. A win and a clean sheet in a real team effort is pleasing."

The biggest shock in the round came at Walter Padbury Reserve where Gosnells City beat Forrestfield United 5-3 on

penalties, after the game had ended 2-2 at normal time. The visitors missed a penalty early, but it looked business as usual

for Forrestfield after Jordan Hart put them ahead. But Scott Pereira levelled for the home side, before Mitchell Fletcher

regained the lead for the visitors and it looked like they had won it. But in the final minute Gosnells won a corner and even

keeper Tom Allen went up for it, and when the corner came over the keeper header crashed off the crossbar, but he

managed to fire home the rebound to send the game to penalties. In the shoot-out Gosnells held their nerve to progress to

the next round. “A great result but more importantly the performance second half was fantastic not allowing Forrestfield

any shots on our goal,” Gosnells Coach Marc Anthony said. “I’m very happy to be in the draw for the next round.”

Mandurah City eased through to the next round with a 5-2 win against Subiaco at Rosalie Park. The visitors dominated the

first half and were ahead when Joe O’Brien raced through to finish well. It was 2-0 when Reece Allan’s corner was headed

home by player/coach Alex Grayson. It was soon 3-0 O’Brien squaring the ball to Lee Stewart who finished from close-

range, and Stewart added the fourth before the break. Subiaco pulled one back after the break through Ben Campbell, but

Mandurah regained their four goal advantage moments later with O’Brien capping off a great game with his second.

Antonio Naglieri pulled one back for Subiaco, but it was too little too late. “It was a good performance overall but the goals

we conceded were sloppy,” Grayson said. “It was positive to see a more attacking threat that we haven't had in previous

weeks so hopefully it can be the kick start we need for our game against UWA Nedlands next week.”

In other games on Saturday Morley Windmills beat Albany Caledonian 7-0 at Wotton Reserve, with goals from Morad Idris,

Boas Mtwale, Deng Mawien, Darren Francis, Paul Murray, and Dhamon Kalamaras. “We started very poorly and could have

been a couple down in the first 10 minutes,” Morley Coach John Castrilli said. “But once we settled and started to play,

everything fell into place from there. It would be great to get one of the bigger teams in the next round.” Shamrock Rovers

also moved through after a hard fought 3-2 win against Maccabi at Harold Rossiter Reserve, while Olympic Kingsway beat

Quinns 3-1 at Gumblossom Park. The home side were ahead in this one, with Jamie Stewart on target after only 12

minutes, but Olympic hit back on the half hour when Chris Rizidis played the ball out to his brother Michael on the left, he

cut inside and curled his shot into the far corner to level.

Olympic hit the front seven minutes later Jordan Pokler got fouled 20 meters from goal, and Pokler curled the resulting

free kick into the top corner of the net. Olympic sealed the win just before the hour, Chris Rizidis played a great through

ball to Ajak Riak who drew and rounded the keeper before rolling the ball home. Gary Williams – “I thought the players

showed great determination after going one down early on,” Olympic coach Gary Williams said. “I thought we controlled

most of the match thereafter however Quinns had a couple of chances, striking our bar twice. We are a young side but

showed a lot of maturity with our approach to the game. Quinns are a good side who I am sure will do well in their league

this year. All in all, I’m delighted to progress into the next round and look forward to the draw.”.

FFA CUP - ROUND THREE REVIEW

Gwelup Croatia moved comfortably through with a 12-0 win against Polonia at Centennial Park in Albany.

Gwelup were ahead on six minutes, with Ellis Healing converting from the spot after Danny Hodgson was

fouled in the box. They doubled their lead on 12 minutes, with Hodgson heading in Isaac Koomson’s curling

cross from close range. It was soon 3-0 new signing Lawrence Shuruma punishes a Polonia mistake to fire

home from inside the box. Hodson made it 4-0, before Healing doubled his tally from close range. It was 6-0

just before half time, Shuruma firing into the far corner from inside the box. It was more after the break with

Healing completing his hat-trick, before an own goal from Polonia defender Phil Udecz made it 8-0. Hodgson

then completed his hat-trick with a tap-in, before Healing added the tenth with a stunning free kick. Hodgson

added another, before Issac Koomson completed the scoring in the final minute.

Queens Park also moved through with a 4-1 win against Northern City at Dryandra Pendula Reserve. Queens

Park opened the scoring, with Byron Goodwin finishing clinically. Goodwin then missed a penalty, but he made

emends moments later threading a though ball to Wesley Britz to score. City pulled one back with Ismail

Mohamed on target, but Britz regained their two-goal advantage, latching on to another Goodwin through

ball. The tie was wrapped up on a quick counter attack, with Leigh Bridger finishing well. “Much respect to

Shak and Northern City who gave us issues all day and played some scintillating football at times,” Queens Park

Coach Ricardo Fynn said. “The score flatters us really, and on another day, they could have won it, so credit to

Northern City who created a great atmosphere today.” Fremantle City striker Angel Andres retuned to haunt

his former club Dianella White Eagle to score a first half trick in their 3-2 win at Dianella Reserve. The home

side pulled two goals back in the second half with Matt Izzo and James Owen on target.

On Sunday Swan United travelled to Bunbury Dynamos and had a scare, before winning 5-4 on penalties after

the game ended 2-2 after normal time. John Monterosso gave Swan the lead but Dynamos levelled. Jonathan

Cole regained the lead for United by Dynamos levelled again to take it to penalties. Joey Smith saved the

second Dynamos penalty in the shoot-out and James Burn scored the winning spot kick to send them through

– just. In other games Western Knights eased past North Beach 7-0 at Charles Riley Reserve, with goals from

Jack Rycroft, Scott Johnstone (2), Brian x2, Patterson, Adam Blewett, Tom Kennedy and Andrew Cartwright.

Warnbro Strikers go through to the next round after Mindarie forfeited, Curtin University beat Yanchep United

Josh Conti. Joondalup City, Canning City, Kelmscott Roos and UWA-Nedlands had the bye.
