At the game against Millis on September 25th there was one less BHS Blackhawks fan in the stands. That night the entire team and many Blackhawks supporters all wore a small red heart sticker bearing the initials JDC. The sticker was worn in memory of Jonathan Cohen the father of Jacob Cohen, a senior at BHS and player #50 on the Blackhawks. Jacob’s brother Jared is a Junior at Tri-County Regional High School in Franklin. The brothers lost their father, Jonathan, suddenly on Wednesday, September 23rd at the age of 41.

Johnathan was a sports fan, especially the of the Bellingham Blackhawks and the New England Patriots. Whenever he had the opportunity to attend a Patriots game he would enjoy bringing his family with him for a traditional tailgating experience that included his own tasty pregame culinary specialties.

When he attended high school at Keefe Tech (Class of ‘92) Jonathan played football and was on the wrestling team. Later in life, as a father he relished the opportunity

Blackhawks Remember Lost Father and Fan to his share his football knowledge with his sons. When Jacob and Jared were in Pop Warner he even borrowed a bucket of little football figures and a small felt field to explain all the team positions to them.

With the ability to fix or put together anything (and possessing a lifelong obsession with all things cars) it is not surprising that Jonathan was the Service Director at Boch Toyota South, a natural fit for someone with his mechanical proficiency. He was very fortunate to have had a core group of childhood friends he was close with through his life, many of them who share his passion for football. Those who knew him remember fondly his tremendous sense of humor, great wit and the ability to make even the most boring situations fun. Thank you
