OUR LADY OF LOURDES MASS SCHEDULE
Sunday: 9:30 a.m.
BAPTISMS
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole
Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit,
and the door which gives access to the other
sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed
from sin and reborn as sons of God; we
become members of Christ, are incorporated
into the Church and made sharers in her
mission: Since Baptism is not a private celebration,
but an incorporation in the large community
of the Church, Baptisms are ordinarily
celebrated on the fourth Sunday
of each Month after the 9:30 a.m. and
11:00 a.m. Masses.
WEDDINGS
Couples intending Marriage should call
the Rectory at least six months in
advance of the planned date.
RCIA
Please call the Rectory if you know of
someone who is interested in learning
about the Catholic Faith.

THANK YOU: For all the kind notes from all the participants who finished their final “Grief Share” process. I am so glad that it helped all of you. Thanks especially to Dolly Young, Don Heiss and Bob Nicandro. You made a huge difference in so many people’s lives! Our “Grief Share” program will start again in September. Please consider coming if you are going through any of the stages of losing a loved one or loved ones.
CHARITY HOSPICE MEMORIAL LANTERN RELEASE: A lantern release will be held, honoring the memory of loved ones who have left us, on Tuesday, July 25, at 8:00pm, (rain date: July 27). at The Pointe, at Friendship Park. Lanterns in memory of loved ones are $6.00 each. For more information please go to www.charityhospice.org.
JULY WORK PARTY: Our July work party will be held this Thursday, July 20, beginning at 6:00pm. We have not been doing so well this year because of the heat and the rain. I encourage you to come and help, if the weather permits. Pizza will be served at 7:30pm.
YOUTH AND PARENTS OF YOUTH, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: To involve young people in preparations for the Synod of Bishops on Youth in 2018, the Vatican has released an online questionnaire to better understand the lives, attitudes and concerns of 16 to 29 year olds around the world. The questionnaire can be found on the synod’s official site: youth.synod2018.va/content/synod2018/it.html and is open to any young person, regardless of faith or religious belief. I encourage our parents to ask their children to respond. The email address is so long because it has to go from Italy, to Rome and then to the Vatican. Do not let this discourage you. You may go to our website at wintersvilleparishes.org and click on the link. This process is especially important in that how can we help the faith of our young people and (your) children, if we do not know what their faith / belief(s) is / are?

Please remember in your prayers the intentions of our Holy Father, Pope Francis
July
(Lapsed Christians)
That our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith, through our prayer and witness to
the Gospel, may rediscover the merciful closeness of the Lord and the beauty of the Christian life.
My word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will.
(pertaining to today’s First reading: Isaiah 55:10-11)
We hear a lot of words in our chatty culture. People are talking in every room we enter. The television is occupied by talking heads, the internet has a surfeit of stories on tap, and radio hosts rant and rave. Politicians pontificate. Headlines shout at us from racks as we innocently walk by. Words even scroll across the exterior of buildings in major cities like ants at a picnic. How many of these words are true? How many of them matter? Does it make a difference that most of them are over uttered? Here’s the good news about God’s word: it is true, it has a purpose, and it’s effective. If we’re going to give our preciously limited attention to words, let them be words of life. All the other words will have their impotent substitutions tomorrow, but divine words are powerful and reliable through eternity! (Alice Camille)
Which are your favorite verses of Scripture? Consider copying and meditating on one line or word from the Sunday readings each week.

LADIES NEEDED ONCE AGAIN TO CROCHET: We are once again in need of ladies who can crochet to make our baby blankets that we give to the newly baptized in our parishes. The yarn is provided by our Catholic Woman’s clubs, so we need the volunteering of your time and talent. If you think you would be willing to help (either for the first time or once again), please contact the parish office.
WORKERS FOR BINGO: We are very much in need of more bingo workers for our Friday night bingo. We have been getting well over 70 people each Friday, which is great for our area. The more workers we have, the more “Instant Bingos” we can sell. The more we sell, the more money we make. I am asking especially our Catholic school parents to help, since the bingo helps to pay for our Catholic schools. But even if you are not involved in Catholic education, please come and help. Just be there on Friday evening at 5:45pm and ask to see Brian. He will show you all you need to know. Thanks to our faithful bingo workers who are there week after week. Please know my deep gratitude for what you do.
BOOKS NEEDED: Our parishes’ bereavement group, GRIEFSHARE, would like to build a library of books on grief topics. If you have any books or booklets that you no longer use and you feel might be helpful, there will be a basket in each of the church’s main entrance/exit to place it in. If you have any questions, please contact Theresa Young (264-9948), Don Heiss or Bob Nicandro (264-1823). Thank you very much!

It was a HUGE success and was larger than last year. It is an exciting event for our schools and parishes and offers an opportunity to showcase themselves by selling wonderful festival food favorites and /or offering games and prizes for all ages! ROSARY RECITATION for the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions at Fatima: On the 13th day of each month, now through October, at 7:00pm, we are asking everyone to gather at the Shrine of our Blessed Mother at the entrance to Catholic Central High School, to pray the rosary in honor of Our Lady of Fatima.. As our Blessed Mother had requested that we pray the rosary, we will come together and do so. Just an FYI: There is meditation and recitation of the rosary at Blessed Sacrament EVERY Wednesday
evening, beginning at 6:30pm, in the grotto of the Blessed Mother between St. Joseph the Worker garages and the St. Vincent dePaul Ministry building. If inclement weather, the rosary is said inside the church.
WORLD YOUTH DAY: The 34th International Youth Conference, World Youth Day, will be held in January 2019 in Panama City, Panama. The theme is “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38), and the pilgrimage features many dynamic speakers, including Steve Angrisano, hundreds of thousands of youth, and young adults from across the world. There will be praise and worship, Mass with Bishop Monforton and Pope Francis and much more! Registration for this once in a lifetime experience is now open! To register, visit www.diosteub.org/wyd. Applications close Oct. 2, 2017. We hope the parishes are well represented!
