PRODUCT FEATURES

• Three capacities handle the needs of any blood bank operation. The 20 cu. ft. chest freezer holds up to 309 standard red cell canisters.

Model 8590 Model 8560 Model 8570 (8574) The 6.7 cu. ft. chest freezer holds up to 124 units. And the 13 cu. ft. upright freezer holds up to 198 units.

• Flat freezer section in Model 8560 eliminates canister bulges and holds six additional canisters.

• Chest models feature a flexible gasket that tightly seals the counterbalanced lid against the cabinet, while upright doors seal against a triple-point silicone gasket.

• For maximum energy savings, the cascade refrigeration system runs only on demand, then shuts off. Step-starting compressors reduce initial power drain.

• Independent electronic controller allows temperature to be set from -50ºC to -86ºC.

• Temperature controller, recorder and Enviro-Scan probes, located inside the freezer chamber, show actual temperature where product is stored. Probes are positioned opposite the door hinge in the lower left front corner of the chamber on the upright freezer. Chest freezer probes are located opposite the lid hinge in the upper left front corner. Probes are posi-tioned to sound the alarm before the stored product sees the rise in temperature.

• Stainless steel interior holds removable stainless steel inventory system. Inventory system (excludes canisters) is included standardwith the freezer.

• Factory installed dual wheel casters, stabilizing feet, inkless chart recorder and key lock are standard.

• Stock #828260 Storage Racks allow the Model 8560 Red Cell Storage Freezer to be used for plasma storage. Forma also manufactures customized inventory systems to permit plasma storage in chest units.

Page 12: Bloodbank Equipment

• To detect and respond to voltage fluctuations, a built-in voltage compen-sator is standard on every Forma Red Cell Storage Freezer. The auto-matic voltage compensator continuously monitors and adjustsincoming power to ensure compressor operation is within designparameters. For peace-of-mind performance, a panel mountedlight alerts operator to incoming voltage adjustments.

• Remote alarm contacts and millivolt output signal are standard features.

• Six inch, seven day inkless recorder charts product temperature for permanent records.

ENVIRO-SCAN™ MICROPROCESSOR MONITORING SYSTEM

• Enviro-Scan incorporates a 40 character LCD digital readout, audible and visual indicators and a sensi-touch key pad to keep you informed of all freezer functions.

• The module digitally displays actual chamber temperature and control setpoint, readable to the nearest degree C. High and low alarm points can be quickly and easily programmed. Access code can be entered toprevent unauthorized adjustments.

• Audible and visual over and undertemperature alarms warn the technician if cabinet temperature extends beyond alarm limits. Display indicates high limit or low limit.

• Alarm can be temporarily silenced or defeated with the touch pad. The system rings back as a reminder to reset when the cabinet temperature returns to normal.

• Exclusive alarm test system saves valuable time when checking alarm system readiness. Cabinet warm-up and cool-down can be safely simulated using the touch key pad located on the monitor.

The entire alarm circuit is tested. Both tests take only seconds and can be performed without opening the freezer. You can quickly and conveniently verify the high limit/low limit setpoint, assuring that the alarm system is ready if needed.

• Audible and visual alarms alert user to power failure. Battery back-up supplies power to the monitor during power failure (minimum 72 hour capacity if battery is fully charged). Monitor reports remaining battery capacity and includes a low battery capacity alarm.

• Audible and visual door/lid ajar alarm. Light flashes when door or lid is open. Alarm will sound after 30 seconds.

• Monitors the refrigeration system for clogged condenser. Alerts operator of condition. An audible alarm is continuously sounded for 12 seconds every 15 minutes until the condition is corrected.

• An RS-232 port permits computer interface and monitoring of temperature and alarms. Remote alarm contacts andmillivolt output signal are standard features.

• Forma Scientific recommends the connection of external alarms for added product protection.

• Please refer to Forma’s Non-CFC 8500 Series ULT Freezers brochure for further information on the Enviro-Scan Microprocessor Monitoring System.

ACCESSORIES - SAFETY BACK-UP SYSTEMSCSA Certified, the CO2 and LN2 Back-up Systems utilize an electronic controller with a platinum temperature probe. The temperature

probe monitors the cabinet temperature within the freezer chamber. If the power fails, or a component malfunctions, the CO2 or LN2 Back-up System takes over, automatically injecting CO2 or LN2.

The back-up systems are factory set, but have a temperature range of -30°C to -140°C which can be field adjusted through the direct setting temperature controller. Batteries continually recharge during normal field operation to provide power to the back-up system in the event of a power failure. A minimum 72 hour battery life (based on a full charge) is provided. The back-up system is complete with test switch and power monitor light.

Item Order No. DescriptionCO2 Back-up System 115V, 60 Hz 189050 Designed to inject CO2 into freezer compartment if temperature rises above preset

safety level. Automatic switching prohibits CO2 injection when freezer door is opened. System can be connected to multiple liquid CO2 supply bottles. CO2

back-up system is factory set at -60°C.

CO2 Back-up System 220V, 50 Hz 189055

Deluxe CO2 Back-up System 189051 Same as CO2 Back-up System but includes CO2 wall clamp, hose and necessary 115V, 60 Hz fittings.

Deluxe CO2 Back-up System 189056220V, 50 Hz

LN2 Back-up System 115V, 60 Hz 189052 Will maintain a temperature below that of a CO2 back-up system. Can be connected to multiple LN2 supply bottles. LN2 loss is limited to normal tank bleed-off. Factory set at -60°C.

LN2 Back-up System 220V, 50 Hz 189057

Back-up System AccessoriesWall Clamp 950316 CO2 bottle holder for securing tank to wall in accordance with OSHA regulations. High Pressure CO2 Hose 991505 Kink resistant type 316 stainless steel with stainless steel liner covered with double-

braided stainless steel sheath. 1/4" NPT type 316 stainless steel female fittings. Maximum working pressure 2500 PSIG in 6 ft. lengths.
