What is your song? Why did you pick it?
Band: Mumford and SonsSong: Not With Haste

We chose the song ‘Not With Haste’ because it has a good progression throughout it which would match a storyline well, as well as give us a good reason to show varied paced editing. It also is in a music genre which gives us a diverse range of directions to go with for the music video. The artist we used will fit in well with the style of music naturally which makes all the conventions fit better. The lyrics of the song also imply emotions such as love and trust which allow us to create a story in the video without being to heavily directed by the songs lyrics.
Who is your artist? What are they called? What image do they have?
Callum Vincent
Our artist has a slightly mysterious image and focuses their brand around the music they play not them as a public figure/celebrity. They often wear simplistic clothes but look smart and do not have a bold and frequently used twitter or social media profile. Despite being a solo artist they are known for being around band members as there music is best played in a band and in a live environment.
How will they appeal to the audience? How are they similar to others?
What style of music video are you making? What will happen?
The style of our video will be an emotional narrative video with performance aspects within. Our video is going to be the life of an old man at Christmas time where he is looking through a photo album where he has flashbacks of the last Christmas when his wife was alive. It will cut in and out of memories and realism where he is doing the same thing but alone. We will edit it to fade the wife in and out of shots. In the end the man will be sitting there alone closing the photo album.
What will be your visual style? Were you influenced by any real media videos? Include a mood board of your ideas.
We haven’t seen any videos that influenced us to the idea. We listened to the music and thought of a scene that was appropriate with the song. A visual idea of what its going to look like is the beginning of ‘UP’ animation by Disney Pixar. Although this shows them growing up, it was the base of the idea where we have expanded and resulted in our final idea.

Which ancillary task are you doing? What will the visual style of these products be? How will
you create synergy between all three products?
We plan on doing the Digipack and website for our artist and to advertise the music video we are doing. When we did our ancillary tasks, we looked at both digipack and website and digipack and poster. After a long process we decided that it will be easier to create synergy throughout the video, digipack and website. We will use the same colours and have the same font on all three products. This will help us create synergy and will allow the audience to acknowledge our products.
What is your artist’s unique selling point? How will this be clear from your overall promotional package?
Our artist will have a unique selling point which will be the difference in voice and look. We will have a young-ish looking male artist who will have a voice of a mature male. The example is Rick Astley who looked very young however had an older males voice. Another way the artist is unique is the mise-en-scene that we will use to assure the audience that they know who they are looking at. An example is James Bay and how he always wears a hat.
