Kindergarten - 2 nd Place 1/2 - Highly Commended 3/4 - Highly Commended 5/6 - 3 rd Place Congratulations to Jack Fielding who entered in the 5/6 Australian Poem section of the Gunnedah Eisteddfod. It takes a lot of courage to speak individually in public speaking. Jack received Highly Commended, great effort!

Gunnedah Eisteddfod Well done to our students who attended the Choral Speech at the Gunnedah Eisteddfod on Tuesday 1st June 2021. You represented our school with pride. Congratulations to Jack Fielding who entered in the 5/6 Australian Poem section of the Gunnedah Eisteddfod. It takes a lot of courage to speak individually in public speaking. Jack received Highly Commended, great effort!

Issue 10 Term 2 – Week 9

PSSA Netball Knockout Our school netball team played Gunnedah South Public School in the PSSA Netball Knockout on Wednesday 2nd June. Our students showed great determination and resilience in the game whilst displaying a never give up attitude. GSPS were the winners 39-2.

Zone Cross Country 26 students attended the Zone Cross Country on Friday 4th June in Mullaley. They competed well considering the wet and muddy conditions. Congratulations to the following students who placed in their age group. Congratulations to Jayda Russell and Zachary Hancock who competed at NW Cross Country on Thursday. Jayda finished 34th and Zach 31st. You both should be proud representing your school in the conditions faced at Coolah - well done!

PSSA Small Schools Soccer Knockout Our school soccer team played Tintinhull Public School in the PSSA Small Schools Knockout last Tuesday. The students played extremely well and showed off some great skills. Unfortunately Tintinhull were too strong for us winning 10-0.

PSSA Boys Basketball Knockout Gala Day Our boys’ basketball team played in the PSSA Basketball Knockout in Tamworth last Wednesday. Despite the extremely cold weather, the boys showed great enthusiasm in both their games. Firstly, we played Narrabri Public School. They showed great skill and accuracy with their shooting. Our boys showed great spirit in the game and never gave up. Narrabri Public School played well and were winners 44-8. Our second game against Glenn Innes Public School. The boys skills improved and they showed great fight. It was a nail biting finish. Unfortunately, Glenn Innes were the eventual winners 16-14.

Reports Semester 1 reports will be sent home on Thursday 24th June 2021. If you require a second report please notify the office ASAP! The reports will be published to the portal app. Parent Teacher Interviews The Parent Teacher Interviews will be held at the beginning on Term 3. Teachers will put their time availabilities into the Sentral parent app. Parents are asked to please book in their preferred time on the app, it will only allow you to select a time that is already vacant. Appointments are first in best dressed basis. If you have any questions about using the app to book in please see the office.

Merit Awards Week 7’s value was Fairness - accepting differences and treating people reasonably. These students Indy Demmery, Ashley Rowland, Violet Hoskinson, Jaylah Oliver, Anora Debreceny, Zavannah Lodge, Nayte Thompson, Marli Campbell, Toby Hobden, Haylee Ison and Tommy Beckett displayed Fairness in the classroom and the playground - well done!

Week 8’s value was Integrity - doing the right thing even when it is hard or when no one is looking. These students Anora Debreceny, Jayda Russell, Eve Greatrix, Alex Morris, Lachlan Stone, Rivah Cassidy, Eddie Harris, Alice Hoskinson, Willow Lodge, Noah Dawson, Lexi Oliver and Layla Stove displayed Integrity in the classroom and the playground - well done!

Issue 10 Term 2 – Week 9

Sam Sport For this week only Sam will be doing sport on Thursday instead of Wednesday. It will be as normal for week 10. NAIDOC Celebration

Our annual NAIDOC Celebration will be held on Wednesday 23rd June from 9:00am. Our school will be joined by members of the community as well as Carroll Public, Tambar Springs and Mullaley Public Schools. This year’s theme is Heal Country. Parents are welcome to attend the gathering at 9:00am in the hall with the cake cutting and a short morning tea to follow. The students will be split into groups to participate in basket weaving, rock/scratch art, face and boomerang painting, damper making and Indigenous games. A BBQ lunch will be provided for students. It is bound to be a great day for students and staff to celebrate and learn about Aboriginal culture. Any questions regarding the day please see our AEO Blanche.

Term 3 Students will return on Monday 12th July to start Term 3. Our Staff Development Day will be moved to Wednesday 18th August for Ag- Quip this will be a pupil free day. Ugly Sweater Day On the first day back of Term 3, Monday 12th July students and staff are asked to wear an ugly sweater for the day. Please see some examples below. It would be great to see students dressed in the ugliest sweater they can find!

Athletics Carnival Our Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 21st July (Week 2). More information to follow in the first newsletter of Term 3. It will be held between Jubilee Oval and at school. Uniform Students are expected to be in their full winter uniform from this week. The uniform is as follows:

• Girls Winter tunic, white long sleeve shirt, tie, stockings and black shoes OR Red shirt, navy long pants and black shoes. School Jumper

• Boys Blue long sleeve Shirt, navy cargo pants, tie and black shoes OR Red school shirt, navy cargo pants and black shoes. School Jumper

• Sports - Unisex Red school shirt, navy sports pants, sports jacket and joggers.

Extended Absences If your child is away for a planned holiday or an extended weekend please notify the office prior. You need to carry an approved leave form whilst you are away. These are filled in at the office prior. This is a requirement from the HLSO. We understand that unexpected events do arise and are out of your control. Sentral Parent Portal An information note has been sent home with a step by step guide to successfully login into the app. Each family has a unique log in code. In the app parents will be able to notify the school of student absences, explain unjustified absences, book in parent teacher interviews, give permission for school activities including sport and excursions, view newsletters just to name a few; this will make it easier to keep up with what is happening at school for our families. If you are unable to use the app and need help logging in please see Miss Jones in the office she is more than happy to help. Have a safe and happy holidays. The school holidays run from Monday 28th June to Sunday 11th July 2021. All students are to return to school on Monday 12th July, well rested ready for a fun-filled Term 3. Regards,

The canteen is now open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Pie Drive The delivery of pies will be this Friday 18th June. Pick up will be from the school hall between 12:00 - 1:00pm.
