Boomi Mini Boomi Mini - - School School Amongst the preparaons for the centenary celebraons we took two days out to drive to Boomi for the mini-school hosted by Mr Collins. It was a fantasc two days for all the students. They were placed in year groups with students from the other schools that aended. It was nice to meet the other staff members from the different schools and enjoy the resources available at Boomi. Thank you Mr Collins for all of the work put into organising such a successful two days. Camp Boomi At Boomi I ate pasta and for breakfast I had nutri-grain. What I liked about Boomi was doing NRL. What I didn’t like about Boomi was playing ten- nis. I met a Principal called Mr Collins. In Maths I won a dice and I got modelling clay from CMA. After school we went to the pool and we went to a disco and I slept in a swag with my brother. In science we made elephant toothpaste and it exploded. In woodwork we made paddle-pop stick mats. I didn’t like science because we did not get to do much. I didn’t like woodwork because we did not get to use wood. In Technology we got to play on iPads and we got to play whatever game we wanted to play, it was fun. There were heaps of games to choose from. So I chose a fish game, it was fun. The best thing about Boomi was when we went to the pool. The reason why going to the pool was the best thing is because I could go in the spa. To do that you had to put 1 stick on a side and do the same on the other side then do that for 3 colours. You had to use PVA glue to stick the paddle pop sticks together. After that you were done. The next activity we did was sci- ence with Mr Fleming. We did a lot of things and I can’t re- member all of them but I’ll tell you the ones I can remember. First we played with Newton’s cradle which Sir Isaac New- ton invented. There are 5 balls hanging by fishing line string. If you pulled two of the balls the 2 on the other side would move going tick-tock-tick-tock. We also made ele- phants tooth paste but I don’t know how we made it. For el- ephants tooth paste we used Kondies Crystals , water and a another thing. We also made a pretty pattern with skittles and milk. You put the skittles in and it makes the pattern. That’s all I remember for science. Next we did tennis with Ken. First we practised ball skills. Then we hit the tennis ball to each other and had a drink break. When we came back from our drink break we played the line game and that was all of the activities for tennis. Then we did CMA with Col Easton, we looked at skulls and bugs. Then Billy told us a story about a boy that loves climbing trees. Then we made hand prints with another lady. After that we went to the Boomi pool and there was a spa pool, a big pool and a little pool. Then we showered and went to the disco. There were heaps of dances at the disco and we also played limbo. On Thursday we went to a place called Boomi for two days but other schools went

too. There was Piliga, Garah, Bullarah and Tulloona. Everybody participated in every

activity. We did maths with Mr Stuart, wood work with Mr Hetherington, Science

with Mr Fleming, tennis with ken, technology, footy and CMA – catchment manage-

ment authority with Mr Col Eastern. The Boomi principal is Mr Collins. He told us

where to go what to do and when to do it.

Afterwards we got to play on the equipment. We had apples, oranges and watermelon

for Fruito and after we could have some cake. Then we did card activities, they lasted

for an hour. Each year level had a different activity to do that we rotated around. The

first thing we did was maths. Stuart made us do fun dice and number activities. The

first activity was a number activity where you had to guess the number on the board

without looking. I volunteered, if I got the number wrong they will say lower, if the

number is too high and higher if the number is too low. I found out the number was

23 and I got a dice for winning.

Then we went in groups of three and we played four games, one game at each table.

Then the bell rang and we went down to woodwork, we made a boot puller. Harry

and I were the first two people to be finished. When the bell rang we went to tennis.

We learnt how to hold, hit and balance a tennis racquet. Then the bell rang and we

went to football. We kicked and passed the ball around. I scored a try. Then we

went to CMA. We looked at water bugs and skeletons. Then we made bird skulls out

of clay my favourite activity was tennis because I got to play with other people it was

fun.

My favourite activity was the money game. Maths was awesome. Then we all went down and had lunch. Ii had two steak sandwiches, they were lovely! I played volleyball at lunch. Year four’s third activity was woodwork with Mr Hetherington. We made wine bottle holders. Step 1 was to sand them down. Step 2 was to make a brand for you wine bottle holder. Step 3 was to get your brand burnt into your wine bottle holder. Then it would be done. After that year four went to science with Mr Fleming. When we were with Mr Fleming we made butter. Science was fun. After that Bonshaw went to the pool for a swim. Next we had a shower and got dressed for the disco. Then we walked back to the hall and had the disco. There were 5 different and fun games at the disco. It was a great disco. Then we rolled out our swags on the floor and went to sleep. In the morning we had breakfast. I had nutrigrain.
