Newsletter Title NEWSLETTER DATE VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 Proudly an Independent Public School BOORAGOON PRIMARY SCHOOL 10 Clements Road BOORAGOON 6154 Phone: 6274 1800 http://www.booragoonps.wa.edu.au/ 23 September 2021 Number 14 As reported by our P&C further on, the ‘Everything Old is New Again’ jumble sale was a roaring success! The toy donations really hit the mark in that there were enough items donated for every student to find some “treasure” and recycle pre-loved toys to a new home. Similarly, the joy and wonder that a good book brings has moved from one address to another to continue to weave its magic. What a brilliant concept, and one which reflects perfectly our sustainability focus of re-use, reduce, recycle. One major benefit of the event was that it brought our community into the school in numbers. There was excitement in the air (the children were high on anticipation all day), and the atmosphere was relaxed and communal. I cannot thank enough the organising committee (coordinated by Kate Zappa) for the many months of work that went into planning, as well as the army of parent volunteers who gave of their time to set up and pull down, and manage stalls and food production on the day. Six very lucky students won bikes that had been rejuvenated and made ‘as new’. Fun of Previous Years! We would all love to see this event recur either annually or bi-annually. Speaking of welcoming the community into the school, this might be a good time to flag an intended end-of-year celebration. In fact, we are calling it our “Night of Celebration”, and it will consist of a whole-of-community picnic culminating in all students participating in a concert. It will take place in the last couple of weeks of term, most likely from 5.30pm onwards. The P&C will organise a take-away menu that can be pre-ordered, or parents/caregivers can bring a picnic. Our colour run is scheduled for Friday of Week 2 (22 nd October). This is our major fund raising event of the year, so hopefully everyone will get involved reaching out to sponsors. We would love to surpass last year’s total, and our target is $9,000. Here is the link to donate; and/or to forward to others who may be willing to make a donation. We’d also love to see as many family members at school on the day to cheer on the runners. https://www.mycause.com.au/ events/bpscolourrun Principal’s News Term 3 Week 10 Canning Banksia Swan UNIFORM SUPPLIES Uniform Concepts 30 Kembla Way WILLETTON 6155 (Next door to Campion Book Supplies) Phone: 9270 4669 https://nellgray.com.au SCHOOL CANTEEN The School Canteen is open Wed, Thu and Fri for recess and lunch https://quickcliq.com.au/ SCHOOL BANKING Every Friday 8.15am to 8.45am Science/Library walkway SENIOR CHOIR Mondays 8.00am JUNIOR CHOIR Tuesdays 8.00am SCHOOL SECURITY We would appreciate if you could use either of the following numbers to report any security issues at our school: 9264 4771 or 1800 177 777 Barbara Horan
