For December Luseland has chosen The Salvation Army, which is a Christian organization that gives hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada and in 131 countries. The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.
Ø A Collection for the Needs of the Canadian Church will be held on the Jan. 26-27 weekend in parishes across the Diocese of Saskatoon. This collection supports the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) in their work to meet the Needs of the Canadian Church. Faced with a range of challenges and needs, the Catholic Bishops of Canada respond on many fronts. Our Canadian bishops are supported and assisted in their ministry of leading, shepherding, teaching, guiding, sanctifying and caring for the Church in Canada by your gift to the Collection for the Needs of the Canadian Church. Your gift supports the CCCB’s involvement in a wide range of national and international areas of pastoral activity, such as: Social justice, Ecumenical and interfaith relations, Collaboration with Indigenous Peoples, Life and family issues, Liturgy, Catechesis, Doctrine, Communications, and Relations with Catholic associations and movements. To make a gift, you are invited to use the designated envelope for the Needs of the Canadian Church on Sunday, Jan. 26 or watch for additional envelopes special to this collection in your parish, or you can give directly online at: https://dscf.ca/special-appeals/needs-canadian-church For more information about how Canadian Catholic bishops are serving the Canadian Church, visit www.cccb.ca or follow CCCB on Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCCB_CECC

God made man from the dust of the earth, but
woman He made from man’s rib. So…man is but dirt, and woman…well she’s Prime Rib.
A cowboy, who just moved to Montana from Texas, walks into a bar and orders three mugs of Bud. He sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more. The bartender approaches and tells the cowboy, "You know, a mug goes flat after I draw it. It would taste better if you bought one at a time. “The cowboy replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in Arizona, the other is in Colorado. When we all left our home in Texas, we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days
when we drank together. So I'm drinking one beer for each of my brothers and one for myself. “The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there. The cowboy becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way. He orders three mugs and drinks them in turn. One day, he comes in and only orders two mugs. All the regulars take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss. “The cowboy looks quite puzzled for a moment, then light dawns in his eyes and he laughs. “OH, no, everybody's just fine," he explains. “It’s just that my wife and I joined the Baptist Church and I had to quit drinking. “Hasn’t affected my brothers though."
