ALL AMERICAN LODGE 2003,04,08,09,10,11,12,13 BPO ELKS 2399 WAPITI WIND March, 2015 EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE: I owe a debt of gratitude to all of our mem- bers for your support of our lodge and our community. It is indeed heartwarming to know how many of you assume the responsi- bility of being an Elk in participation of the noble work to which we are dedicated. I am certain that when our Grand Lodge Exalted Ruler John Amen looks at our record in membership retention, new members, and community out-reach in both donations and participation, he too will be proud. Nationwide the members of Elks Lodges has been decreasing, however we have managed growth by knowing who we are and supporting our youth in a responsible way. Be proud, because you have made this ER and First Lady Maridee very proud. March is a busy month for us. We have so many new candidates to induct for February and March that we had to have an initia- tion in February to split up the over 80 candidates to become Elks. This makes it a meaningful Ceremony for our new mem- bers when the group is a little smaller. Your present officers are extremely dedicated to providing a memorable occasion for the installation of new members to our order, and wish for your at- tendance at the meetings to help welcome them. Help us Elevate America in the best way we know how. Charity, Justice, Broth- erly Love, and Fidelity are not buzz words, but are a way of life. Our Old Timers Night observance crossed a new threshold Sat- urday night, February 7, by awarding 20 Year pins for the first time in Elks Lodge 2399 history to female pioneers to Elkdom. Pictures of those receiving pins is further on in this issue. The Awards Banquet is on March 14 th beginning at 5 pm, so help congratulate those members who have walked the extra mile by your presence. The most important installation of new officers takes place March 28 th at 4 pm followed by Happy Hour at 5 pm and the Charity Inaugural Ball beginning at 6 pm. Tickets are available in the office for this event. Please support your new officers. It is a great investment in time and money for all of them, and it is done for our benefit. Being at the Inaugural Ball in support gives them a feeling of ‘thanks for helping us’ with our duties as Elks. Jackie Turcotte will be your coming year Exalted Ruler and has proven to be a most worthy Elk. She was always there when I needed her in the last few years, and she will be diligent in her duties, I can assure you. .

Wow, where has this year gone? Seems I

was just writing last year’s newsletter and

welcoming the newly elected officers to the

Elkette Board for 2014-15 year, and here I

am a year later coming full circle to intro-

duce our newly elected officers for 2015-16.

Deborah Haines has accepted the position of President, Kathy Cummins was elected

as 1st Vice President, Paulette Nainteau will

carry on as 2nd Vice Pres./Membership, Teri

Vodry was elected as Secretary, and Eddy Glenn was elected as

Treasurer. I welcome this new board of officers and know they

will work hard together, I hope their experience will be the best

it can be. They will be installed at our March 10th meeting.

So here I am once again writing about an event that is just days

away, our Valentines “Sock Hop” has surpassed the largest tick-

ets sales yet, over 200 guests, No Doubt- No Worries, or is that

DOO WOP- DOO WOP.

Make sure you mark your calendar for March 7th, The Crazy

Auction. Nickel, dimes, and quarters will be plinking and pad-

dles will be slapping the tables along with yelling and laughter,

oh and dollars work too! The doors will open at 9:00am, Satur-

day, with paddles for sale for $1.00. One paddle per person.

Bring your friends, neighbors and even your hubby; everyone gets into the bidding. Put on your craziest getup and enjoy the

fun. Some great donations have been generously donated to our

event. You might be a lucky winner of three days, two night

stay at the Riverside or Edgewater – Colorado Belle Hotel and

Casino in Laughlin, and so much more. See you there.

Keep in mind the Elks/Elkettes Awards Banquet on March 14th

Elkettes are guests (free). Tickets will be in the office for you to

pick up, as well as to buy tickets. This is where the Elkettes

New Officers will be presented to the lodge members and some

very special awards are handed out. Please think about attending

and supporting our Elkettes on this very special night.

Our membership continues to blossom. Please welcome Jo-

elle Gordon, Jan Santacroce, Janet Schutte-Edd, and Debbie Whitlock who joined us in January, and I neglected to put the

spot light on them last month so we had some fun at the meeting

this month and got to know the ladies a little better. Welcome,

our HEART just continues to grow larger with every new

Elkette.

Remember your membership dues for 2015-16 are now due,

drop off at the lodge office, mail them in, or you can pay them at

the March 10th meeting as well. New Standing Rule where dues

are concerned. You must have your membership paid by March

31st, after June 30th there will be an additional $5.00 charge to

reinstate. If dues are not current by July 1st, the member will be

removed from the roster. This was brought to the floor for dis-

cussion and voted on and passed. Copies will be available for

you at the next meeting.

Our March meeting will be brief, so that we can install the

New Officers, and hand out a few appreciation gifts. Refresh-

ments will be served. A lot is happening between February 14th and March 14th, so put on your running shoes with me and see

who gets to the finish line first. Here’s a thought for you. “The

Elks make up the body of our Lodge and the HEART of that

body is The Elkettes.

Thank you for all your support, it means a lot to me!

for us to get to know all new members, it is important that you know that you can make a difference in their involvement in our club. Another reminder that the Tri State Rally, host-ed by Sierra Vista, will be at the Voyager RV Park in

Tucson. This is one of the top rated RV Parks in the US. The Rally will be April 22-26,2015. A show of hands indicated there are 25 rigs interested in attend-ing. Editors Note Wapiti articles are welcome. We are interested in your volunteer

work and donations, but please remember the following criteria when submitting an article for publication. 1. Articles must be submitted by the 10th of the month preceding publi-cation. In order to reach the printers time schedule extensive labor is required. The material must be assembled, laid out, formatted and edit-ed for mistakes. The printer then requires a minimum of ten days for processing and mailing.

2. To be printed in the National Magazine pictures require certain standards and cellphone pictures do not normally meet these strict re-quirements. Contact me, I will be more than happy to take the picture. 3. Although entertaining, snap shots are not acceptable. Pictures must be posed and meet the Magazine guidelines of what may be shown in the picture. 4. Pictures that meet the pixel guidelines must include the names and

titles of all pictured and any picture with children must have the chil-dren’s names, and have parental permission for publication. Regrettably, I have two pictures that deserve national recognition but cannot be printed because the pictures were taken with a cell phone and the children not identified, or have parental permission. 5. Articles shall not have any political or sectarian connotation, nor be of a controversial nature.

By-Laws and House Rules Vote The proposal to update the subject docu-

ments, originally approved in June 2010, will be voted upon at the April 7, 2015 meeting. All changes since that date have been approved by the lodge members and Grand Lodge. The only significant changes are in the By-Laws involving committee responsibilities assignments by Grand

Lodge. The subject documents are available in the Lodge Office the members to review before the vote.

The Grand lodge is promoting the Organ-

donor program advertised on the

www.dontelife.net. Members are encouraged

to log on and given credit for that participa-

tion in the All-American Lodge Contest.
