Logging On To Your AccountAccess your Brainbench Corporate Account by entering your account logon information in theAccount Logon section of the Brainbench home page (www.brainbench.com).

Following logon you will be automatically redirected to the home page of your BrainbenchCorporate Account. You have access to both a Pre-Hire Testing and an Employee Developmentaccount, even if you are only using the Employee Development account. Your logon will defaultto the Employee Development, but you can change the default home page from the UserPermissions link if you are an administrator or the Modify Logon link if you have manager orviewer permissions.

Account HomeThe primary Brainbench account functionality is accessible from the home page of yourBrainbench Corporate Account (Figure 1.2). The navigation on the left side of the page gives youaccess to all of the features offered within the Brainbench Employee Development Account.Each feature is explained, in detail, in the following sections.

Items that appear on all pages in your account are:

- Information specific to the logon used appears in the upper right corner of the page:o The name associated with the Login IDo The company nameo The account number (also referred to as the Client ID).

- Contact information for customer support is located at the bottom

Test Management

Maintain Participants

The Maintain Participants page (Figure 1.3) allows you to add a new participantto your account, view and edit existing participants, and assign Job Roles to anexisting participant.

To add a new participant to a specific track, follow the steps below:

1. On the Maintain Participants page, under Assign Participants to a Track, select the track(Figure 1.4).

2. Click Go.

The Assign Participants to a Track page that appears (Figure 1.5) gives you access toparticipant information (general and demographic) for any track associated to yourcorporate account, in addition to the test list associated with the track. The participantinformation displayed on this page for the specified track includes: Participant Name Track Status Participant Status E-mail Address Total Number of Tests Taken A link to edit the participant’s demographic information

Additionally, users have the ability to sort participant information by participant name orstatus.

If your Brainbench Corporate Account has multiple tracks associated with it, theparticipant list is defaulted to the first track (in alphabetical order). To change the trackfor which the information is displayed, simply select a different track name from theSelect a Track dropdown list.

Click the Add New Participant to Track link from the Maintain Participants page. A pop upwindow appears with the Add New Participant to Track page displayed (Figure 1.6).

3. Type in information for any or all of the following fields: Org ID First Name Last Name E-mail Address Participant ID Geographical Location Job Code Company Department Participant Status Track Status

Populating the other fields will allow more detailed reporting by providing additionalsearch criteria.

4. Click the Save Changes button.

Note: First Name, Last Name and E-mail Address are required fields. If you wantto include an Org ID that does not currently exist, you must add the Org ID and itscorresponding parent ID in the Org ID section available from the Add NewParticipant to Track page.

Add New Organizational IDTo add an organizational ID to your Corporate Account’s Org ID dropdown list (in the Add NewParticipant to Track form), follow the steps below:

1. Click the “Add New” link located to the right of the Org ID text box label. The Add NewOrg ID page is displayed (Figure 1.7).

2. Type the appropriate organizational ID in the Org ID text box.

3. Type the appropriate parent organizational ID in the Parent Org ID text box.

4. Click the Add Org ID button to add the org ID and return to the Add New Participant toTrack form.

Edit an Existing ParticipantTo edit participant information for a participant associated with a specific track, follow the stepsbelow:

1. Click the Edit link from the Maintain Participants page (Figure 1.8). The Edit Participantpage is displayed.

2. Modify any or all of the editable fields (Org ID, Participant ID, Geographical Location, JobCode, Company Department, Participant Status, and Track Status).

3. Click the Save Changes button.

Note: Once added, a participant's e-mail address can only be modified by theparticipant or Corporate Support. E-mail address determines a unique user withinthe Brainbench system.

Your changes are saved and you are returned to the Maintain Participants page.If edits are made to information for a participant that is associated with two tracks, the edits arereflected in the information for both tracks.

Move a Participant to a Different Track (Accounts with Multiple Tracks Only)To move a participant to a new/different track, follow the steps below:

1. Click the Edit link next to the participant’s name from the Assign Participants to a Trackpage. The Edit Participant page is displayed.

2. Click the Move Participant to Another Track link.

3. Select which track you would like to move them to from the New Track dropdown list.You may also need to change their participant status. You can do this by selecting adifferent status from the Participant Status dropdown list.

4. Click the Save Changes button.

If a participant’s status is updated in any track, their status is updated in all tracksto which they are associated.

Assign Participants to a Job RoleTo add a new participant to a Job Role, follow the steps below:

1. On the Maintain Participants page, under Assign Participants to a Job Role, select the jobrole (Figure 1.9).

2. Click the Go button.

3. On the Maintain Job Role Participants page (Figure 1.10), you are presented with twooptions: 1) add/remove participants by selected criteria, and 2) add/remove allparticipants.

4. To view the list of participants currently assigned to this job role, click the View assignedparticipants link in the top center of the page, and the page will display the list ofparticipants with their name and e-mail address (Figure 1.11).

5. To add/remove participants, select one or more selection criteria and click the Continuebutton. To view all participants, do not select any criteria. Alternatively, if you click theAdd Entire Organization or Remove Entire Organization buttons, all participants willautomatically be added/removed from the job role. (Figure 1.12)

6. The next Maintain Job Role Participants page (Figure 1.13) will display the individualoptions for each criterion you selected in the previous step. Select one or more of theseitems and click the Continue button.

7. Individuals who match your selection criteria will be displayed in one of two columns onthe next page (Figure 1.14). Unassigned participants will be displayed in the left column,while participants already assigned to this job role will be displayed in the right column.Using the Add and Remove buttons between the two columns, move one or moreindividuals as desired. (You may also click the Select All checkbox under a column toselect all names simultaneously).

8. When you are finished moving participants to the appropriate column, click the SaveChanges button (Figure 1.15).

9. You are returned to the Maintain Job Role Participants page (Figure 1.16), which will notethat your changes have been saved. The counter at the top center of the page will beupdated to reflect the current number of participants assigned to the job role.

View Results

The View Results page (Figure 1.17) is a predefined Detail report that shows allthe most recent test results associated with your account. You can modify thesort order by clicking the column name. This information can also be exported toan CSV, Excel, or XML format by selecting the link at the bottom of the report.For additional information regarding report features, please review the RunReports section beginning on page 30.

Resources

Test Catalog

The Test Catalog page (Figure 1.18) provides information regarding the tests thatare available to your participants. To view a list of all tests available, click the AllSkills Tests link in the Knowledge, Skills and Ability section at the bottom of thepage. You can also see a list of our tests by job type on this page.

If you are looking for a specific test that does not appear in the TestCatalog, or would like to modify an existing test for you companies needs,Brainbench does offer custom test development. Please contact yourBrainbench account manager or sales directly at [email protected] additional information.

Advanced Tools

Manage Job Roles

The Manage Job Roles page (Figure 1.21) is accessible from the left navigation under AdancedTools. Managing job roles includes creating and editing job roles and associated test groups foryour account. Once job roles and test groups have been created, participants can be assigned toeach job role. The page will display job roles that you have created, the option to create new jobroles using existing ones created by others in your company or predefined by Brainbench, or youcan customize your own.

Create a Job RoleWhen creating a job role, you can choose to copy and modify an existing job role from youraccount or from job roles defined by Brainbench, or you can create a custom job role.

Note: Only Account Administrators and Managers can create job roles, and onlyan Account Administrator can certify a job role. Account Administrators can editany job role, but Managers can edit only job roles that they personally created.

To create a job role based on an existing job role:1. On the Manage Job Roles page (Figure 1.22), under Option 1, select the existing job role

you would like to use.

2. Click the View button.

3. Review the job role information (Figure 1.23). If the job role information is appropriate foryour use, click the Go button in the Copy section. (Figure 1.23)

4. To edit job role information, click the Edit Information button (Figure 1.24). (See Table 1for descriptions of editable job role information.)

5. Make your updates and click the Save Group and View Changes button (Figure 1.25).

6. Review job role information for accuracy. If editing is required, repeat steps 4 and 5. Ifthe information is correct, go to step 7.

7. Click the Save Job Role button.

Note: A Job Role will only be added to the list of job roles after it has been saved.Once a Job Role has been created and saved, it cannot be deleted from the jobrole list. Additionally, each Job Role created by an organization MUST beuniquely named.

To create a custom job role:

1. On the Manage My Job Roles page, under Create a Job Role (Option 2) click the Gobutton.

2. On the Create/Edit Job Role page, enter job role information. See Table 2 for job roleinformation descriptions.

3. Click the Save Changes button.

4. Review Job Role Information for accuracy. If editing is required, click the EditInformation button. If the information is correct, click the Add a Test Group button.

5. On the Create/Edit Test Group Information page, enter the test group information. SeeTable 3 for descriptions of test group information.

6. Click the Save Group and View Changes button.

7. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 for each test group in this Job Role.

8. After you’ve finished creating test groups, review the Job Role Information and all TestGroup information for accuracy. If editing is required, click the Edit Information or EditTest Group buttons, as applicable. If all information is correct, go to Step 9.

9. Click the Save Job Role button.

Table 1Editable Job Role Information DescriptionJob Role Name Official name of the job role. Typically the

name is related to the job function or aspecific set of skills. The name is uniqueand can only be used once within anorganization.

Job Role Description The description displayed to alladministrators, managers, and participantsassigned to the job role.

Current Status Determines whether or not previous or newtest results for a participant are automaticallyassociated to a job role. For test results tobe associated to a job role, current statusmust be active.

Issue Job Role Certificate Determines whether a participant will receivea paper certificate and a certification on theirtranscript for completing the required testsfor the job role. Only an accountadministrator can designate whether a jobrole certificate will be issued.

Organization Displayed on Certificate Defaults to your organization’s name. Thisfield can only be modified by Brainbench.

Table 2Test Group Information DescriptionGroup Name Indicates how each grouping of tests will be

displayed. For example, tests may begrouped by type or assignment.

Add/Remove Tests Tests included in the group are listed. Testscan be added to or removed from the group.Various search options are available to makeadding tests easier.

Number of Required Tests The number of tests a participant will need tocomplete within a test group. The number oftests required cannot exceed the number oftests in the group. A minimum of one testmust be required for each test group.

To edit test group information:1. Select a job role for which the test group information requires editing.

2. On the View/Review Job Role Changes page, under Test Groups, click the Edit TestGroup button.

3. On the Create/Edit Test Group Information page, edit the test group information (Figure1.25). See Table 3 for descriptions of test group information.

4. Click the Save Group and View Changes button.

5. To save the test group information associated with the selected job role, click the SaveJob Role button. To exit without saving the test group information associated with theselected job role, click the Exit without Saving button.

E-mailBrainbench offers the ability to communicate with your participant base quickly and easily throughthe E-mail Participants functionality. To get started, follow the steps below:

1. To select a list of e-mail recipients from your participant pool: Select the values from each/any of the list boxes for which you’d like to build your e-mail

recipient list (Figure 1.26) To view the recipient list, click the View E-mail List button To clear the values you have selected, click the Clear Data button

Import Tests

The Import Tests feature allows you to transfer any previous test results taken by an individualthrough a personal Brainbench account directly to your Corporate Account. In order for tests tobe imported, however, they must be marked "public" in the individual's personal transcript. Theimported test data will appear in Brainbench reports where the data matches the search criteria.

To import a test:

1. Click the Import Tests link in the left navigation.

2. In the Enter a Transcript ID Number text box, enter the transcript ID number for theindividual whose test(s) you wish to import and click the Continue button (Figure 1.28).

Note: If the transcript ID number is unknown, select Find a Transcript IDNumber and you will be prompted for information to search for the correctTranscript ID.

3. To import the test, click the Import Test button. Check the test youwould like to import and click on the Destination Name to move the results(Figure 1.29)

Note: The names and e-mail addresses must be an exact match for bothorigination and destination transcripts to transfer results, provided that the namesand e-mail addresses are an exact match for both origination and destinationtranscripts.

4. Once you have selected the appropriate test(s), select the destinationtranscript for those tests. Upon a successful import, you will be directed toa confirmation page with the import results (Figure 1.30).

Run Reports

The Run Reports section allows you to pull data from your Corporate Account on individual orgroup search criteria. Test results are instantly available in the Corporate Account once the testis completed. Depending on a user’s data permissions, they may only be able to view results fora subset of data contained in your Corporate Account.

Links under each of the report names from the Report Main Menu (Figure 1.31) offer a detailedexplanation and sample of each report, as well as providing answers to commonly askedquestions about Brainbench scoring.

Benchmark Report Evaluate how Brainbench test scores relate to yourorganization’s scores. High, low,and average scores are computed, a histogram is producedand a bar chart of individual topic scores is created.

Test Topic Analysis Analyze how a group of participants performs on each topicarea within a certification. Scores are shown relative toequivalent values for the entire Brainbench test population.

Relative Skills Compares the average score of the organization’s participantsagainst the average score across the entire Brainbenchdatabase.

Certification Comparison Compares certification results for two groups against eachother in criteria set by you. This report consists of three graphsto depict the comparison of certifications. The graphs includeaverage score, number of people certified, and number ofpeople certified at a master level.

Skills Search Identify all participants that match specified skill levels inmultiple topic (test) areas. Depending on your preference,records returned can match all or any of the criteria set by you.

Job Role Activity Enables you to quickly monitor the progress of your assignmentof job roles to participants. This report includes each job rolename, the total number of participants assigned, lists ofparticipants who have completed/not completed the job role, aswell as an overall rate of completion.

Summary High-level view of an organization’s certification results. Thisreport tracks aggregate information such as number ofemployees tested, number of employees certified (whereapplicable), your average test score and percent of youraverage test score compared to the Brainbench average testscore.

Running ReportsTo run a report, follow the steps below:

1. Click the name of the report you wish to run from the Report Main Menu.

2. Select search criteria to filter the data you wish to return (Figure 1.32), and clickContinue. If you choose to filter, the report will only bring up records that haveinformation for each criterion. If you do not want to filter, click Continue and all availableinformation will be included in the report results. The Search Criteria Detail page will bedisplayed (Figure 1.33).

3. Input and/or select the appropriate values for the search criteria youselected in the previous screen. Additionally, you are given the option tosort data returned for all non-graphical report results. Click the RunReport button.

4. Results are returned to the Report Results page (Figure 1.34) with thesearch criteria used to run the report at the bottom of the page. From thispage you are able to refine your search, save your search criteria andcreate a custom search criteria filter, and download the report data. Youcan modify the sort order by clicking the column name. This informationcan also be exported to a CSV, Excel, or XML format by selecting the linkat the bottom of the report.

Note: Reports run by users with Viewer and Manager access rights will only returnresults for the Org IDs and Tracks to which that user has been assigned access.

Individual Record

To access the detailed one page report for an individual, click the test score of the appropriaterecord from the Detail report.

The Individual Record (Figure 1.35) provides in-depth information on all test results andquestionnaire responses for the selected record. It can also be used to access individualreporting options, for example, comparing the selected individual’s test results against the entireBrainbench test population. These reporting options are explained in greater detail on theReports Overview pages (accessible by clicking the More Info link below each report title).

Additionally, you can attach notes to an Individual Record, modify the individual’s information, ore-mail the individual’s test results to someone else.

Individual ReportsThe seven individual reports located at the bottom of the Individual Record allow you to measurethe participant's test scores in several ways, including geographically, against the scores of othertest takers in the Brainbench database, or against your own established benchmark score. Also,these reports offer you a look at the questions that the test taker answered, and how he/sheanswered them. Table 4 describes the individual reports.

The Account Activity page provides you with information regarding the status and activity of youraccount and tracks (Figure 1.36). The Seat Summary page provides overall information on youraccount in two sections:

• Seat Balance• Usage by test volume

The Usage (By Test Volume) summary includes the total tests taken in the seat-based tracks andthe total assessments completed in the credit based tracks. The information is for the currentmonth and the previous 12 months. (Figure 1.37b)

User Permissions

An account administrator is able to create and modify an unlimited number ofusers/administrators in your Brainbench Corporate Account within the User Permissions section(Figure 1.40). Any number of authorized individuals can create reports and view yourorganization’s data in a single online account. Each user is required to have a unique logon IDand password. You will also determine the default corporate home page that the administratorsees when they log on (Pre-Hire Testing or Employee Development).

To add a new user:

1. Select Add New User in the User dropdown list.

2. Type in the new user’s first and last name in the appropriate text box.

3. Assign a unique logon ID.

4. Assign a password and confirm it.

5. Enter a default e-mail address where test results can be e-mailed.

6. Adjust the default account homepage view, if necessary.

7. Enter the default test event expiration date.

8. Save your changes by clicking the Add User button. You will be automatically redirectedto the Edit Permissions page (Figure 1.41).

1. Verify that the current role information is correct.

2. Under Modify User Role, select the appropriate role. Refer to Table 5 for roledescriptions.

3. Select each Track and Org ID to which the user should have access. (The user must beassociated with both a Track and an Org ID.) If the user should have access to all Tracksand Org IDs, click the checkbox.

4. Click the Modify Information button when you have finished. A button indicatingwhether the User Role is active or inactive now appears in the window.

Appendix B: Glossary of TermsAccess Code: Randomly generated code given to an employee to access SCS for a specificorganization. When the code is used for the first time, it is linked to that individual’s transcript IDand cannot be used by another individual. The access code takes its properties/behaviors fromthe track it was generated from.

Account Administrator: An individual that has unlimited access to their organization’sCorporate Account and is responsible for maintaining basic account information.

Certification: A credential available for a test taker when they have achieved a score of 2.75 orhigher on a Standard Brainbench Assessment.

Client: Any organization that purchase Brainbench products as the end-user.

Client ID: Computer generated number that identifies clients and resellers within the Brainbenchcorporate account system and links the appropriate test results with the account.

Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT): Test engine which adapts to the test takers skill level bygenerating questions based on the result of a previous question.

Custom Assessment: An assessment that is customized to meet organizational requirements,resulting ownership depends on degree of customization.

Brainbench Corporate Account: An online account, which permits clients to perform a variety ofoperations including filtering records and generating reports for individuals and groups.

Track: The code created by Brainbench to link specific participants to a given organization.
