We end the year after the wonderful Annual Prize Giving event last night, where our children's achievements and successes were acknowledged and recognised and our amazing Year 6 pupils graduated. It was a very emotional evening with some beautiful singing and music from our Breaside orchestra and a solo piano piece from Natalia Pilu. I believe that we saw the outstanding breadth of curriculum that we now offer at Breaside and I am sure you will agree just how lucky our children are. I have received so many positive comments and emails from you all regarding Prize Giving and even shed a few more tears this morning, thank you all for sharing this with us. The evening was an opportunity to say our final farewell to our Year 6 scholars too. I am sure you will agree, they looked truly amazing in their grey and amber robes, please look out for photos in the Bulletin. It was good to see the Year 6 parents join us for Afternoon Tea on Tuesday and go down memory lane with the children, some who have been at Breaside since Kindergarten, how they have grown up to become confident, independent individuals! The pictures of them in their first Nativity, then in Osmington Bay and finally in Normandy, France this year, just shows the journey they have had at Breaside. We truly felt we were at the Ritz in London, thanks to Mr Turtle and the ladies in the kitchen and the wonderful piano playing from Ian. Year 6 left school today in their open-top red bus which was decorated with grey and amber balloons and on the front ‘Year 6 Class of 2017’ which was a wonderful sight to see going around the local area of Bromley. I wish them all good luck for the next stage of their education and look forward to seeing and hearing about what they have achieved over the next few years. They know that they will always be welcome back to Breaside to share their many successes in the future. Goodbye and good luck Year 6 you have been an amazing group of students this year! Reception children and their parents also enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea on Tuesday with the teachers. Summer holiday club is being run by Munchkins this year at Breaside, for the first three weeks of the summer holiday, so please do not forget to book via their website www.munchkinsports.com. May I take this opportunity of wishing you all a wonderful Summer break and I look forward to seeing some of you at the Booster Days for our new Year 6 on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31 st August 2017 and everyone else on Tuesday 5th September 2017. Have a wonderful Summer holiday everyone! Mrs Nicholson

Dear Parents

I would like to extend my thanks to all Breaside parents for allof the support you have provided to Friends of Breaside overthis past year. With your help we have raised a massive£12,000!

We held a number of great events in order to fund projects andfun experiences for all the children at Breaside.

These events started with the annual Welcome Back Drinks inSeptember followed by a visit from Santa just before Christmas, which included a lovely gift of a book for each child.

All of the children have had the opportunity to attend a Monster’s Ball or a Magic Show andDisco.

We have designed two Breaside school cookbooks, which were a great success, and the healthyrecipes provided by the children for these books are now being used by Thomas Franks theschool catering company!

This March FOB held a fantastic Spring Ball and raised an astonishing £9000!Much of the proceeds of the Ball will be used to extend playground/playing field equipment forthe children and to provide a new PA system for the hall. We are working with Mrs Nicholsonto select the most appropriate pieces of equipment and we hope to see these items in placeduring the forthcoming autumn term.

Following on from the success of the Living Eggs initiative in 2015, we bought the Living Ducksto school this summer, which the children absolutely loved! Never wishing to leave the parentsout of the fun, this summer term also saw our traditional quiz night.

We’ve also made math’s come alive with the Happy Puzzle Company and have had a visit fromCooling Nurseries for the Early Years. We have provided new gazebos for sports day and fundedthe Leavers Book for our departing Year 6 children as a lasting memento of their time at Breaside.

There are many exciting events already scheduled for next year including our first summer fairfor two years! Plenty for us to do which means plenty of opportunities for anyone to becomemore involved. We’re always looking for volunteers – even if it’s just a little.

The details of all of the forthcoming events will be in the first Breaside Bulletin of Septemberstarting with the Welcome Back Drinks at The Bull’s Head in Chislehurst for all parents onWednesday 27th September.

Finally, I would like to extend my thanks to the rest of the Friends of Breaside Committee(Georgina Burkett, Christina Dianellou, Sarah Pearson, Jo Butterfield, Louise Attreed, JaneGillett, Claire Banton-Forbes, Jemma Brown and Nicola Bellinger) plus all of the many class repsand staff who work so hard to organise these activities.

I wish you all a relaxing summer and look forward to seeing you at the many FOB events nextyear.

Sarah Mallion, Chair, Friends of Breaside
