Dear Parents,

Amidst the massive wildfires currently affecting Australia, the first grade has taken

time to incorporate the continent of Australia, it’s habitats and wildlife into our non-

fiction reading and writing units. While studying the animals and considering the

devastation to their habitats the students are left wondering what happens next.

We all have been touched by the devastation and have been moved to action!

The 1st grade team and elementary art teacher have decided to host an art gallery

of Australian influenced paintings created by the 1st grade students. These art

pieces are going to be for sale to families, staff, community members and local

businesses. Proceeds from this event will be split between two organizations. Monies

will be directly given to Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital and the fire departments of

New South Wales. Each student will be creating their own unique masterpiece for

the art gallery highlighting Australian animals and habitats. Families will have the

opportunity to purchase their child’s art piece before it goes to the gallery. Once a

painting goes to the gallery, it will be available for the public to purchase. If you

would like to purchase your child’s piece, please send in a donation of your

choosing in a sealed envelope marked “wildfire” with the slip below. Any amount is

acceptable. The remaining Australian art creations will be available for others to

purchase through donations when the gallery opens. It will be open to the public on

Thursday, February 6th through Friday, February 7th during school hours for all to visit.

Please help us by spreading the word about the 1st grade art gallery! Everyone is

welcome to view and participate in this event. The children are so excited about

their project and feel called to make a difference. Thank you for your support as

we help them become good stewards of our world.

Sincerely,

The First Grade Teachers

On March 20th, 2020 the Bremen High School will host the 24th Annual

Bremen Police Department Benefit Basketball Game. For the past 24 years the

basketball game has given the community an opportunity to come together to raise

funds for local families in need.

This year we want to shift the focus to establishing a fund that could not only

help a specific family in need, but something that would be able to help multiple

families or organizations over the years. It would be a fund that would work for the

betterment of the community and to ensure that Bremen continues to be “A Good

Town” that takes care of our community and its members.

Your attendance and financial support will make this a successful event. For

a minimum donation of $150 you and/or your company will be featured on the t-

shirts that will be worn by the players and given to every person who makes a

donation at the game. The t-shirts are a great way of advertisement and also a strong

demonstration of community support. Please make checks payable to the Bremen

Police Department, 123 S. Center St. Bremen, Indiana 46506. Your monetary

sponsorships must be received by March 8, 2020.

The Bremen Police Department is also collecting items for a silent

auction. If you and/or your company would like to donate any item(s) to be

auctioned please drop the item off at the Police Department prior to March 1, 2020.

Item(s) may be picked up if necessary.

The basketball game will feature officers from the Bremen Police

Department and other departments versus the Bremen High School boys and girls

senior players. Tip off will be at 7:30pm in the Bremen High School gym. Doors will

open at 6:00pm for pre-game events and festivities. Additionally, La Parilla Caliente

will be offering food for purchase and everyone is welcome to attend.

On behalf of the benefitting family/families and the Bremen Police

Department, we would like to thank you in advance for your generosity. Let’s play

ball!!!

Sincerely,

Ptl. Wes Atkins
