Director’s Message

The work is now very much underway at the resort. We are hoping that the weather continues to grace us so that there are no unwanted construction hold ups.

It has been great to see the earthworks reaching completion throughout the last few weeks. Once again, I would like to thank the tradesmen for their collective effort in getting this work closer to completion.

We have had some new residents join our family this year already and I do hope that everyone spends some time getting to know one another – I suspect that many new friendships will be made this year!

I hope everyone enjoys soaking the last bit of summer weather in the coming weeks. If you would like information about our homes or facilities, our Sales Team are more than happy to assist you.

Yours sincerely,

Adrian Puljich Director & CEO of GemLife

I am happy to say that 2018 has definitely started with a bang! The resort has been ‘on fire’ since we came back from our Christmas and New Year’s break and will hopefully continue to prosper for the remainder of the year.

Stage One is definitely selling out fast, so get in now if you don’t want to miss out on some great house designs.

If you would like to see what our beautiful homes are like, please do not hesitate to contact our lovely Sales team. I hope you enjoy your month and come down to the Sales Office for a visit!

Manager’s Message

Lyn’s 60th birthday party at Sandstone Point was great – she got a real surprise to see all the guests there. We came back to Gemlife and then set up in the street for a night cap, putting the empties at Lyn’s front door (naughty).

What’s cooking? Last month we organised a trip to the Blanco Appliance Centre to provide our residents with insight as to the features of the appliances. This presentation included a demonstration of how to use their new appliances along with a fun experience of cooking tips with food and beverages. We are sure that our residents will be using these ideas for their many social events this year!

As you can see, there are so many exciting things happening at the resort already! We now have the shade sails up in our caravan and boat storage area, providing adequate protection to vehicles from the sun and other weather types. It is great to see our residents already using the space to their advantage!

Our bowling green now has a roof and the bottom level of the Club house is currently under construction. The workshop room has also had some work completed to it over the last few weeks which is very exciting to see.

One of the greatest things we offer at GemLife is the opportunity to have a day out, without having to travel anywhere!

Our state of the art championship bowling green will do just that. With six rinks, you won’t have to bother paying expensive membership fees or travelling to other clubs. Maybe you’d like to get a bowling team together and take it all very seriously or perhaps just enjoy a casual game with a beer – the choice is yours!

Located just behind the five-star country club at the heart of the resort, we have gone to great lengths to provide a quality experience through the use of needle punch synthetic grass that is used by champions around the world. We have used the best of the best equipment to ensure no divots and excellent longevity. The 917sqm bowling green will allow you to live the dream – just a few steps from your front door.

Gem of a Home: $433,000

Keeping up-to-date with our residents is very important to us here at GemLife Bribie Island. As a pet-friendly resort, we see our animals as part of the family – so in this section of our newsletter, we catch up with our hairier residents.

Here we have the beloved Tiger, one of our newest GemLife Bribie Island residents. Tiger is settling into his new home splendidly and is loving life at Bribie Island. Tiger is definitely not by nature, though with the exception of seeing a large dog where he can bark and snarl, full knowing that Mum and Dad are there and will protect him!

He has recently gone from eating roast chicken with pate to now demanding five-star quality mince, so you can see he is totally indulged but he does give us unconditional love.

GemLife Bribie Island is a pet-friendly resort that promotes active lifestyles and welcoming communities. If you are interested in becoming part of our resort and would like some more information, contact our Sales Team on: 1800 193 177 or email: [email protected]

GunpowderIf you are an avid Jon Snow lover (Game of Thrones reference), Gunpowder is not one to be missed. A mini-series set in the early 17th century, Gunpowder follows the true events surrounding British activist Guy Fawkes and a team of provincial English Catholics. The group plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I. Kit Harrington plays Robert Catesby, and is funnily enough a direct descendant of the character.

One Day at a TimeThis may ring a bell for some of us! One Day at a Time is a remake of the 1970’s hit sitcom. It follows the story of a Cuban America family, headed by a single mother raising her three children. She is not alone in the process and has the help of her mother. It illustrates the struggles of a single mother, living on a smaller wage and how family can “make do” with the love and aid of its members.

Sons of AnarchyFollowing the story of bikies, Sons of Anarchy has become a widely favoured television program in the last few years. Showing the ups and downs of being involved in a motorcycle gang, the show successfully highlights what gang members are faced with and at what cost would they lose their most prized possessions just to be ahead of the pack.

Gilmore GirlsA favourite pick amongst women (and a few men, of course), Gilmore Girls follows the story of the witty mother and daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory. The heart-warming storyline follows their battles and triumphs in love and life. The perfect show to binge watch, Gilmore Girls is bound to provide lots of laughs!

Mike and Gillian Wilson

Having emigrated from the UK in 1974 with their two children, Mike and Gillian Wilson lived in New Zealand for 25 years in Nelson at the top of the South Island. After many holidays to Australia, the Wilsons decided to make the move permanent.

After eventually moving to the Gold Coast, Mike continued his trade as an electrician whilst Gill worked in Aged Care.

The emotional and physical toll associated with Gill’s career convinced them that it was now time for a sea change – and what better place than Bribie Island!

Having recently arrived at GemLife Bribie Island, both Mike and Gill are looking forward to spending more time with their four grandchildren and a much deserved, relaxed lifestyle.

Eddie, Jan Edstein and Liz

The Edsteins are no strangers to Bribie Island, having lived locally for some 20 years. Eddie loved to sail and for a time they lived on the canal where Eddie kept his yacht.

Having moved here from China, where Eddie was posted with Foreign Affairs and Jan worked in immigration, the Edsteins have lived in many parts of the world including Thailand, Russia and Papua New Guinea.

They have also lived in Singapore, where Eddie was posted in the army for which he served 23 years. They are very much looking forward to moving into their new home at GemLife Bribie Island. They wouldn’t live anywhere else!
