Maths activity- Time

Children can begin by making their own clock- using paper or cardboard. Discuss the different

parts of a clock and their importance’s e.g. hands on a clock and what they represent.

Look at past/ to- I teach this by physically showing the children on a clock

Closer look

Small hand (hour hand) is past the nine and the minute hand (large hand) is on the right hand

side (past side), count in 5minute intervals to start until you reach 4, then count the minutes.

English:

Show not tell is a technique authors use when they don’t want to give everything away straight

away. For example, rather than saying ‘she was scared’ they could write ‘her heart began to

pound’.

Write a sentence for each emotion using show not tell.

Present your research in one of the following ways: -

A PowerPoint presentation Completed PowerPoints can be emailed to your class teachers.

A poster representing information you have learnt about

plants and animals This could be hand-drawn, painted, collaged or done on the computer. You could

email / send photos of your completed poster to your teacher.

Make an information leaflet about an animal or plant of

your choice and how it has adapted to where it lives. EG

why does a penguin live in the Arctic and not the

rainforest? How do you know? This could be done using Microsoft Publisher and emailed to the class teacher or it could

be hand made and photos of your leaflet send to the class teacher.

Make a model to represent an animal or plant’s habitat.

You could include key facts about your animal/plant on

your model If you choose this option, please take photographs of the finished model and send to

the class teacher via email.
