Living In Qatar

.

Qatar is situated halfway along the western coast of the Arabian Gulf. It occupies a peninsula projecting approximately 160 km northwards from the Arabian mainland. It has been blessed with large oil reserves and one of the world’s largest single concentrations of non-associated natural gas in the world. Its economy is sound and thriving.

The climate is characterized by mild winters with little rain and hot, humid summers. The weather is generally pleasant from October to May.

Qatar has approximately 1.6 million people, the majority of whom live in Doha, the capital. Islam is the country’s official religion, and Islamic jurisprudence is basis of Qatar's legal system. Arabic is the official language, although English as lingua franca of business is widely spoken. European and Asian communities reside and work in the government sector and business enterprises.

Doha is Qatar's largest city and is also the country's centre of administration, finance, culture, transportation, and social services. Doha also serves as the seat of government of Qatar, which is ruled by Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

Living In Qatar

.

There are a number of regular social and family events throughout the year. For younger members of the family, there are a variety of activities, which include bowling, tennis, swimming, sports and cinema. The safety and family orientation of Qatar makes it one of the most safe and secure countries in the world in which to work, rest and play!

One of the wealthiest Arab states among the top 20 richest countries in the world, Qatar's very low rates of crime and the almost total absence of civil and political unrest means that Qatar is an excellent destination for the entire family.

Living In Qatar

.

Along with the country’s free health care to every citizen, education is compulsory and free for all children from kindergarten through high school. Qatar has an increasingly high literacy rate. Some universities from the United States have set up highly specialized campus branches at the Education City, Qatar. The universities include Weill Medical College, Carnegie Mellon University, Georgetown University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Texas A&M University.

For sports lovers, there are a number of organized sports tournaments all year round. Qatar will be hosting FIFA World Cup 2022, which makes it the first and the smallest Middle Eastern country to host the World Cup. For those wishing to become more familiar with Qatar, there are shopping excursions, guided tours round Doha, trips to historical sites and into the desert including an unmissable Arabian Night Safari! When seeking an adventure and relaxation further afield, Qatar’s geographical location means that many exotic holiday destinations in the Arab world, North Africa and Asia are only a few hours away.

Welcome To HMC

Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar’s leading medical services organization, offers you an exciting opportunity to be a part of a dedicated and enthusiastic team of healthcare professionals.

Just as we are committed to the highest quality of healthcare for our patients, we believe in providing our employees unlimited opportunities in an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork.

We offer our employees a comprehensive benefits program that meets their families.

Hamad Medical CorporationBackground

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is the principal public healthcare provider for the State of Qatar. HMC is committed to actively contributing to and enabling the sustainable development of Qatar and its people in alignment with the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.

HMC believes in excellence in healthcare, education and research with each supporting the other to provide the safest, most effective and compassionate care to each and every one of our patients.

To meet the healthcare challenges of Qatar’s growing population, Hamad has transformed into a thriving and integrated Academic Health System which will make significant, positive impacts upon patient care, medical education and medical research.

In addition to three general hospitals (Al Khor Hospital, Al Wakra Hospital and The Cuban Hospital) HMC also manages five specialist hospitals (Hamad General Hospital, Rumailah Hospital, Women’s Hospital, the National Center for Cancer Care and Research and Heart Hospital) which look after patients with the most prevalent conditions, including cancer, heart conditions, rehabilitation, and providing specialist treatment for women and children.

HMC also operates the national Ambulance Service and a home healthcare service.

Hamad Medical Corporation Background

Hamad continues to upgrade its facilities and services and has also embarked on an ambitious expansion program, targeting the areas of need in our growing community. By the end of 2015 HMC will have opened a further three hospitals – a rehabilitation hospital, women’s hospital and ambulatory and minimally invasive surgery centre. All of these hospitals are addressing the needs of the community as well as our own capacity challenges.

Hamad was the first public healthcare system outside the United States to achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation for all hospitals simultaneously. JCI accreditation is based on quality and safety across all clinical and management functions.

HMC is also the first hospital system in the Middle East to achieve institutional accreditation from the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education - International (ACGME-I), which demonstrates excellence in the way medical graduates are trained through residency, internship and fellowship programs.

The Academic Health System in Qatar – a first within the MENA region – is a dynamic nationwide network integrating research, education and clinical care to focus on improving patient care and deliver innovative healthcare solutions. The eight partners working collaboratively in the AHS include HMC, Sidra, WCMC-Q, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, College of the North Atlantic-Qatar, the Primary Health Care Corporation, Qatar University and University of Calgary-Qatar.

Hamad - Accommodation/Housing

Your Housing Allocation

Your housing allocation depends on a number of factors including:

• Employment contract status

• Job grade

• Marital status

• Vacant housing availability

The Corporation’s HR Bylaws govern the housing allocation entitlements. The Bylaws are a legal framework set by the organization that governs the way we work. HR does not have the authority individually to change entitlements.

When you receive your HMC accommodation, it is important you live in this accommodation. HMC does not permit you to live anywhere else other than your assigned HMC home.

Hamad - Accommodation/Housing

Female junior staff on an overseas contract will receive HMC single female accommodation in a shared facility. In such cases, you will have your own bedroom and share the rest of the fully furnished flat facilities.
