Granted to William Wentworth and John Blaxland, the property hasa history as rich as the land itself

One of the oldest farming properties in Australia, the original 1830’s ‘Gammon Plains Head Station’ and settlement was located within the boundaries of the property, where its historic smithy shed still stands on the original site.

By the time the township of Merriwa was established in the early 1840’s the settler population of the station and the newer ‘Brindley Park’ topped over 100 people.

The 19th century shearing shed is one of the prime historic shearing sheds in Australia, which had 110 hand stands at its peak. Constructed from timber cut from the property the galvanised iron walls and roof were completely replaced in 2009.
