COST OF WAITING

(ONE YEAR)

With the average life expectancy increasing, uncertainty around Social Security, rising healthcarecosts and inflation continuing to erode the purchasingpower of your money, participating in your retirementplan is more important than ever.

The amount you need in retirement income could playa significant role in reaching your future financialgoals. It is important to take the time to look at yourspecific situation and retirement income needs beforedetermining how much to contribute to yourretirement account.

Only 48 percent of workers report that they and/ortheir spouses have taken the time to complete aretirement needs calculation, according to the 2015Retirement Confidence Survey from Employee BenefitResearch Institute and Mathew Greenwald& Associates.

Compounding example

Thanks in part to compounding, the difference between the contributions to Michael’s account and his actual account balance at retirement is $151,149!

Note: This hypothetical investment return and fictitious name is designed to demonstrate the impact of compounding returns and is not

indicative of any particular investment or performance. Hypothetical returns assume reinvestment of earnings and a 6 percent average return

on investment. Actual returns or principal value will vary. Balance shown is before reduction of taxes.

It is a smart idea to participate in your retirement planas soon as possible. If you start contributing right away, your account may have more time to grow or weatherups and downs.

Your retirement plan contributionsThe money you contribute to your retirement accountis automatically deducted from your paycheck – beforetaxes are taken out. It goes directly into your retirementaccount, so your paycheck is actually less than it wouldhave been. This means you are paying less in currentincome taxes for the year. This can help reduce theimpact of contributing to your retirement plan on yourtake-home pay.

Put tax deferral to work for youTax deferral simply means the contributions to yourretirement plan are not currently taxed. You areputting off paying taxes on that money until youwithdraw it from your retirement account.

How can putting off paying taxes be a benefit? Not onlyare your contributions invested, but the deferred taxesallow your money to stay invested.

Roth ContributionsUnlike traditional qualified plan contributions, Rothcontributions are made with after-tax dollars, whichmeans that you are taxed on the full amount you earnfirst, and then your contribution is deducted. Rothcontributions and earnings accumulate tax-free. Whenyou reach retirement, your qualified distributions canbe withdrawn tax-free.

The Roth option may make more sense for you if:● You believe you will be in a higher tax bracket when

you retire● You prefer to reduce your future tax liability instead

of your current tax liability● You want tax-free growth

However, Roth is not for everyone. Weigh your optionscarefully.

The benefits of compoundingCompounding occurs when your initial investmentgenerates a gain that is reinvested and experiences anadditional earning. When the new balance (theoriginal investment plus the gain) generates furtherearnings, the initial gain increases the total return ofyour initial investment. When the following gains arereinvested, future positive earnings are furthercompounded.

3. Choose yourinvestments

An important and sometimes confusing step inretirement preparation is choosing which options toinvest in. Because each investor has different goals anddifferent circumstances, there is no set strategy thatworks for everyone.

Investment typesThere are different types of investments in which youmay choose to invest your retirement plancontributions. The three main types are:● Stocks

— Stocks have historically had the greatest risk andhighest returns among the three majorinvestment types.

● Bonds— Bonds are generally less volatile than stocks but

offer more modest returns.● Cash equivalents

— Cash equivalents – such as certificates of deposit, treasury bills and money market funds – aregenerally the most conservative investments, butoffer a lower potential for return than the othermajor investment types.

Another type of investment, called an Asset Allocationinvestment, provides investors with a blended portfolioof different types of investments in a single option. These investments are a good option for investors whowould prefer to allow professional money managers tomake adjustments to their investments as the marketfluctuates.

AUL’s Retirement Services products offer flexibility anddiversity in investment options through our groupannuity contract to help plan participants reach theirretirement goals. Participants invest in an AULseparate account, which in turn invests in underlyingfunds. Plan participants are credited with units of theAUL separate account, not shares of any underlyingfund.

Understanding risk and returnInvestment risk is the potential for an investment tolose value. Return is the change in value on aninvestment. Higher returns are usually associated with

greater risks, while investments with lower returnsgenerally have a lower risk level. Understanding therelationship between risk and return is very importantas you develop your investment strategy.

The amount of investment risk you are willing to take, also known as your "risk tolerance," is a personaldecision, which can be shaped by many factorsincluding the amount of time you have untilretirement, also known as your "time horizon."● Risk tolerance

— Some people are comfortable taking on the risk offrequent ups and downs of the stock market inreturn for potentially greater long-term returns.Others prefer the possibility of a slow, steadyreturn with lower risk investments.Understanding your personal attitude toward riskcan help you find the right mix of investments foryour portfolio.

● Time horizon— The longer you have until retirement, the more

risk you can potentially afford to take.

Mixing it up with diversificationBecause different investment types have varying levelsof risk and return, it is important to make sure youhave a good mix of investments in your portfolio. Thisstrategy, called diversification, aims to balance risk andreward by allocating assets according to your goals, risk tolerance and investment horizon.

Note: Each group of investments carries its own unique risks. Beforeinvesting, please read each fund prospectus for a detailedexplanation of the risks, fees, and costs associated with eachunderlying investment. Although you might reduce volatility and riskwith diversification, you can’t eliminate investment risk altogether.Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against loss. Bondfunds have the same interest rate, inflation and credit risks that areassociated with the underlying bonds owned by the fund.

Money Market funds are not typically insured or guaranteedby the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any otherfederal government agency. Although they seek to preservethe value of your investment at $1.00 per share, it’s possible tolose money by investing in money market funds.

What type of investor are you? Findout by completing the AssetAllocation Builder questionnaire onthe following pages.

Investment supportBecause choosing investment options can be difficult, the Lutheran Senior Services Retirement Match Planoffers you assistance with these important decisions, including tools and resources provided by AUL andothers available from independent, third parties.

Target date investment optionsYour plan offers target date investments. Target dateinvestments are types of Asset Allocation investmentsdesigned for investors who prefer to be less "hands-on"when it comes to their investment management.

With target date investments, which are based on youranticipated date of retirement, investments areprogressively rebalanced for you from riskierinvestments to more conservative investments as younear retirement.

More information on your plan’s investment optionscan be found in your enrollment materials, duringonline enrollment or by logging in to your secureaccount.

Note: Target Date Funds are designed for people who plan to retireand begin taking withdrawals during or near a specific year. Thesefunds use a strategy that reallocates equity exposure to a higherpercentage of fixed investments; the funds will shift assets fromequities to fixed-income investments over time as you nearretirement. It’s important to remember that no strategy can assure aprofit or prevent a loss in a declining market and the principal valueof the Target Date Funds is not guaranteed at any time, including thetarget date. Target Date Funds are designed to providediversification and asset allocation across several types ofinvestments and asset classes, primarily by investing in underlyingfunds. Therefore, in addition to the expenses of the Target DateFunds, an investor is indirectly paying a proportionate share of theapplicable fees and expenses of the underlying funds. The principal

amounts invested into these funds are not guaranteed at any pointand may lose value.

Additional information about your investment options

Note: Any performance reported before AUL first offered aninvestment account is hypothetical and was calculated by adjustingthe underlying fund's performance by current applicablecontract charges.

Note: Unit values are based on net asset values provided by thefund company and not independently verified by OneAmerica. IfOneAmerica receives corrected information, the net asset value willbe recomputed and your account will be recalculated, if necessary,to reflect the corrected net asset value, provided that the error wasmaterial under federal securities laws.

Asset Class and Investment Option Specific Disclosures

1. Note: Bond funds have the same interest rate, inflation and creditrisks that are associated with the underlying bonds owned bythe fund.

2. Note: Funds investing in stocks of small, mid-sized, and emergingcompanies may have less liquidity than those investing in larger, established companies and may be subject to greater price volatilityand risk than the overall stock market.

3. Note: Investing in international markets involves risks notassociated with investing solely in the U.S., such as currencyfluctuation, potential political and diplomatic instability, liquidityrisks, and differences in accounting, taxes, and regulations.

4. Note: Sector funds may experience greater short-term pricevolatility than more diversified equity funds. Funds that invest in aconcentrated sector or focus on a relatively small number ofsecurities may be subject to greater volatility than a morediversified investment.

5. Note: Target Date Funds are designed for people who plan toretire and begin taking withdrawals during or near a specific year. These funds use a strategy that reallocates equity exposure to ahigher percentage of fixed investments; the funds will shift assetsfrom equities to fixed-income investments over time. As a result, thefunds become more conservative over time as you approachretirement. It's important to remember that no strategy can assure aprofit or prevent a loss in a declining market and the principal valueof the Target Date Funds is not guaranteed at any time, including thetarget date. The principalamounts invested into these funds are not guaranteed at any pointand may lose value.

6. Note: The investment manager or adviser has agreed to limit theportfolios' expenses by waiving fees and or reimbursing certainexpenses of the fund. Contractual waivers expire at the prescribed

While a participant in anannuity contract may benefit from additional investment and annuityrelated benefits under the annuity contract, any tax deferral isprovided by the plan and not the annuity contract.

Note: Participants invest in AUL separate accounts, which in turninvest in underlying funds. Plan participants own units of an AULseparate account, not shares of any underlying fund.

Theexpense ratio does not reflect the fund's brokerage costs or anyinvestor sales charges. In contrast to the net expense ratio, thegross expense ratio does not reflect any fee waivers in effectduring the time period. Also known as the Prospectus Gross Expense Ratio,Morningstar pulls the prospectus gross expense ratio from thefund's most recent prospectus.

Expense Ratio %The expense ratio is the annual fee that all funds charge theirshareholders. It expresses the percentage of assets deductedeach fiscal year for fund expenses, including 12b-1 fees,

management fees, administrative fees, operating costs, and allother asset-based costs incurred by the fund. Portfoliotransaction fees, or brokerage costs, as well as front-end ordeferred sales charges are not included in the expense ratio. The expense ratio, which is deducted from the fund’s averagenet assets, is accrued on a daily basis. The gross expense ratio,in contrast to the net expense ratio, does not reflect any feewaivers in effect during the time period.

Sales Fees Also known as loads, sales fees list the maximum level of initial(front-end) and deferred (back-end) sales charges imposed bya fund. The scales of minimum and maximum charges are takenfrom a fund's prospectus. Because fees change frequently andare sometimes waived, it is wise to examine the fund'sprospectus carefully for specific information before investing.

12b1 Expense %A 12b-1 fee is a fee used to pay for a mutual fund’s distributioncosts. It is often used as a commission to brokers for selling thefund. The amount of the fee is taken from a fund’s returns. Maximum Redemption Fee %The Maximum Redemption Fee is the maximum amount a fundmay charge if redeemed in a specific time period after the fund’spurchase (for example, 30, 180, or 365 days). Asset Allocation Asset Allocation reflects asset class weightings of the portfolio. The “Other” category includes security types that are not neatlyclassified in the other asset classes, such as convertible bondsand preferred stocks, or cannot be classified by Morningstar asa result of missing data. Morningstar may display assetallocation data in several ways, including tables or pie charts. In addition, Morningstar may compare the asset classbreakdown of the fund against its three-year average, categoryaverage, and/or index proxy. Asset allocations shown in tables may include a breakdownamong the long, short, and net (long positions net of short)positions. These statistics summarize what the fund’smanagers are buying and how they are positioning the fund’sportfolio. When short positions are captured in these portfoliostatistics, investors get a more robust description of the fund’sexposure and risk. Long positions involve buying the securityoutright and selling it later, with the hope the security’s pricerises over time. Short positions are taken with the hope ofbenefitting from anticipated price declines. The investorborrows the security from another investor, sells it and receivescash, and then is obligated to buy it back at some point in thefuture. If the price falls after the short sale, the investor will havesold high and can buy low to close the short position and lockin a profit. However, if the price of the security increases afterthe short sale, the investor will experience a loss buying it at ahigher price than the sale price. Most fund portfolios hold fairly conventional securities, suchas long positions in equities and bonds. Morningstar maygenerate a colored pie chart for these portfolios. Other portfoliosuse other investment strategies or securities, such as shortpositions or derivatives, in an attempt to reduce transactioncosts, enhance returns, or reduce risk. Some of these securitiesand strategies behave like conventional securities, while otherhave unique return and risk characteristics. Portfolios thatincorporate investment strategies resulting in short positions orportfolio with relatively exotic derivative positions often reportdata to Morningstar that does not meet the parameters of thecalculation underlying a pie chart’s generation. Because of thenature of how these securities are reported to Morningstar, we

may not always get complete portfolio information to reportasset allocation. Morningstar, at its discretion, may determineif unidentified characteristics of fund holdings are material.Asset allocation and other breakdowns may be rescaledaccordingly so that percentages total to 100 percent.(Morningstar used discretion to determine if unidentifiedcharacteristics of fund holdings are material, pie charts andother breakdowns may rescale identified characteristics to100% for more intuitive presentation.) Note that all other portfolio statistics presented in this reportare based on the long (or long rescaled) holdings of the fundonly. Sector WeightingsSuper Sectors represent Morningstar's broadest classificationof equity sectors by assigning the 11 equity sectors into threeclassifications. The Cyclical Super Sector includes industriessignificantly impacted by economic shifts, and the stocksincluded in these sectors generally have betas greater than 1.The Defensive Super Sector generally includes industries thatare relatively immune to economic cycles, and the stocks inthese industries generally have betas less than 1. The SensitiveSuper Sector includes industries that ebb and flow with theoverall economy, but not severely so. Stocks in the SensitiveSuper Sector generally have betas that are close to 1. Morningstar Rating™ The Morningstar Rating™ for funds, or "star rating", iscalculated for managed products (including mutual funds, variable annuity and variable life subaccounts, exchange-tradedfunds, closed-end funds, and separate accounts) with at leasta three-year history. Exchange-traded funds and open-endedmutual funds are considered a single population for comparativepurposes. It is calculated based on a Morningstar Risk-AdjustedReturn measure that accounts for variation in a managedproduct's monthly excess performance, placing more emphasison downward variations and rewarding consistentperformance. The Morningstar Rating does not include anyadjustment for sales loads. The top 10% of products in eachproduct category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2stars, and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The OverallMorningstar Rating for a managed product is derived from aweighted average of the performance figures associated withits three-, five-, and 10-year (if applicable) Morningstar Ratingmetrics. The weights are: 100% three-year rating for 36-59months of total returns, 60% five-year rating/40% three-yearrating for 60-119 months of total returns, and 50% 10-yearrating/30% five-year rating/20% three-year rating for 120 ormore months of total returns. While the 10-year overall starrating formula seems to give the most weight to the 10-yearperiod, the most recent three-year period actually has thegreatest impact because it is included in all three ratingperiods. For private funds, the Morningstar Rating presented ishypothetical, because Morningstar does not independentlyanalyze private funds. Rather, the rating is assigned as a meansto compare these funds with the universe of mutual funds thatMorningstar rates. The evaluation of this investment does notaffect the retail mutual fund data published by Morningstar.

Morningstar Return The Morningstar Return rates a fund’s performance relative toother managed products in its Morningstar Category. It is anassessment of a product's excess return over a risk-free rate(the return of the 90-day Treasury Bill) in comparison with theproducts in its Morningstar category. In each Morningstar

Morningstar Return ismeasured for up to three time periods (three, five, and 10years). These separate measures are then weighted andaveraged to produce an overall measure for the product. Products with less than three years of performance history arenot rated.

Morningstar Risk Morningstar Risk evaluates a fund’s downside volatility relativeto that of other products in its Morningstar Category. It is anassessment of the variations in monthly returns, with anemphasis on downside variations, in comparison with theproducts in its Morningstar category. In each Morningstarcategory, the 10% of products with the lowest measured riskare described as Low Risk (Low), the next 22.5% BelowAverage (-Avg), the middle 35% Average (Avg), the next 22.5%Above Average (+Avg), and the top 10% High (High). Morningstar Risk is measured for up to three time periods(three, five, and 10 years). These separate measures are thenweighted and averaged to produce an overall measure for theproduct. Products with less than three years of performancehistory are not rated.

Morningstar Style Box™ The Morningstar Style Box reveals a fund's investment strategyas of the date noted on this report. For equity funds the vertical axis shows the marketcapitalization of the long stocks owned and the horizontal axisshows investment style (value, blend, or growth). For fixed-income funds, the vertical axis shows the creditquality of the long bonds owned and the horizontal axis showsinterest rate sensitivity as measured by a bond's effectiveduration. Morningstar seeks credit rating information from fundcompanies on a periodic basis (e.g., quarterly). In compilingcredit rating information, Morningstar instructs fund companiesto only use ratings that have been assigned by a NationallyRecognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO). If twoNRSROs have rated a security, fund companies are to reportthe lowest rating; if three or more NRSROs have rated the samesecurity differently, fund companies are to report the rating thatis in the middle. For example, if NRSRO X rates a security AA-,NRSRO Y rates the same security an A and NRSRO Z rates it aBBB+, the fund company should use the credit rating of 'A' inits reporting to Morningstar. PLEASE NOTE: Morningstar, Inc.is not itself an NRSRO nor does it issue a credit rating on thefund. An NRSRO rating on a fixed-income security can changefrom time-to-time. For credit quality, Morningstar combines the credit ratinginformation provided by the fund companies with an averagedefault rate calculation to come up with a weighted-averagecredit quality. The weighted-average credit quality is currentlya letter that roughly corresponds to the scale used by a leadingNRSRO. Bond funds are assigned a style box placement of"low", "medium", or "high" based on their average credit quality.Funds with a low credit quality are those whose weighted-average credit quality is determined to be less than "BBB-";medium are those less than "AA-", but greater or equal to"BBB-"; and high are those with a weighted-average creditquality of "AA-" or higher. When classifying a bond portfolio,Morningstar first maps the NRSRO credit ratings of theunderlying holdings to their respective default rates (asdetermined by Morningstar's analysis of actual historical defaultrates). Morningstar then averages these default rates to

determine the average default rate for the entire bond fund. Finally, Morningstar maps this average default rate to itscorresponding credit rating along a convex curve. For interest-rate sensitivity, Morningstar obtains from fundcompanies the average effective duration. Generally,Morningstar classifies a fixed-income fund's interest-ratesensitivity based on the effective duration of the MorningstarCore Bond Index (MCBI), which is currently three years. Theclassification of Limited will be assigned to those funds whoseaverage effective duration is between 25% to 75% of MCBI'saverage effective duration; funds whose average effectiveduration is between 75% to 125% of the MCBI will be classifiedas Moderate; and those that are at 125% or greater of theaverage effective duration of the MCBI will be classified asExtensive. For municipal bond funds, Morningstar also obtains from fundcompanies the average effective duration. In these cases staticbreakpoints are utilized. These breakpoints are as follows: (i)Limited: 4.5 years or less; (ii) Moderate: more than 4.5 yearsbut less than 7 years; and (iii) Extensive: more than 7 years. Inaddition, for non-US taxable and non-US domiciled fixed incomefunds static duration breakpoints are used: (i) Limited: less thanor equal to 3.5 years; (ii) Moderate: greater than 3.5 and lessthan equal to 6 years; (iii) Extensive: greater than 6 years.

Investment Risk Foreign Securities Funds/Emerging Markets Funds: Theinvestor should note that funds that invest in foreign securitiesinvolve special additional risks. These risks include, but are notlimited to, currency risk, political risk, and risk associated withvarying accounting standards. Investing in emerging marketsmay accentuate these risks. Specialty/Sector Funds: The investor should note that fundsthat invest exclusively in one sector or industry involveadditional risks. The lack of industry diversification subjects theinvestor to increased industry-specific risks. Non-Diversified Funds: The investor should note that fundsthat invest more of their assets in a single issuer involveadditional risks, including share price fluctuations, because ofthe increased concentration of investments. Small Cap Funds: The investor should note that funds thatinvest in stocks of small companies involve additional risks.Smaller companies typically have a higher risk of failure, andare not as well established as larger blue-chip companies.Historically, smaller-company stocks have experienced agreater degree of market volatility than the overall marketaverage. Mid Cap Funds: The investor should note that funds thatinvest in companies with market capitalizations below $10billion involve additional risks. The securities of thesecompanies may be more volatile and less liquid than thesecurities of larger companies. High-Yield Bond Funds: The investor should note that fundsthat invest in lower-rated debt securities (commonly referredto as junk bonds) involve additional risks because of the lowercredit quality of the securities in the portfolio. Products issued and underwritten by American United Life Insurance Company® (AUL), a OneAmerica company.

This information is provided for overview or general educational purposes only. This is not to be considered, or intended to be legal or tax advice. Changes in the tax law may affect the information provided. Investors should consult with their legal or tax advisors for personalized assistance, including any specific state law requirements.

Investing always involves risk, including the potential loss of principal. Participants should carefully consider their risk tolerance, investing time horizon, needs, and objectives as well as the specific risks and limitations associated with each of the investment options before investing. It is important to note that there are costs associated with the group annuity including investment costs associated with each of the investment options, as well as expense fees and contract charges.

Investment options summary pages and performance information are available for most investment options, but not all options.

The retirement plan discussed is funded by a group annuity. A variable annuity contract is a long-term, tax-deferred investment designed for retirement that will fluctuate in value. The annuity has underlying investment options. These investment options may not be available for purchase outside the variable annuity. Contributions are used to purchase units of an investment account within an AUL separate account and AUL in turn purchases shares of the corresponding investment option.

Group annuity contracts issued by AUL and registered variable annuity products are distributed by OneAmerica Securities, Inc., Member FINRA, SIPC, a Registered Investment Advisor, One American Square, Indianapolis, IN 46282, 1-877-285-3863.

Tax qualified retirement plans from American United Life Insurance Company® (AUL) are funded by an AUL group annuity contract. While a participant in an annuity contract may benefit from additional

investment and annuity related benefits under the annuity contract, any tax deferral is provided by the plan and not the annuity contract.

Investments made into the plan are tax-deferred. The tax deferral is a result of the tax treatment of the plan itself and not the group annuity. The group annuity adds no additional tax benefit. Withdrawals from the plan may be taxed as ordinary income and, remember, if withdrawals are made before age 59½, there may be an additional 10 percent tax penalty in addition to the ordinary income tax due.

AUL’s Retirement Services products offer flexibility and diversity in investment options through our group annuity contract to help plan participants reach their retirement goals. Participants invest in AUL separate accounts, which in turn invest in underlying funds. The use of multiple leading investment companies on a single platform allows access to quality investments and the ability to select investments by specialty without locking into their company’s full product lineup. Plan participants own units of an AUL separate account, not shares of any underlying fund.

Variable products are sold by prospectus. Both the product prospectus and underlying fund prospectuses can be obtained from your investment professional or by writing to OneAmerica Securities, Inc, One American Square, Indianapolis, IN 46282, 1-800-249-6269. Before investing, carefully consider the fund’s investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses. The product prospectus and underlying fund prospectus contain this and other important information. Read the prospectuses carefully before investing.
