Portico Quartet sound like nothing you ever heard before. The Mercury nominated London based outfit’s unique brand of hypnotic minimalism has expanded to embrace new sonic
territories. Portico Quartet has now added vocals to its shows, beautifully sung by Swedish singer Cornelia.
The world famous Mingus Big Band celebrates the astonishing music of legendary composer/bassist Charles Mingus, who died in 1979. Under the artistic direction of Sue Mingus, this
14-piece band is one of the wonders in jazz today.
Music for your brain and body is excellently delivered by Snarky Puppy, who bring their genre-bending, funk/jazz fusion music to Ireland for the first time. They have moved from an underground secret to headlining festivals all over the globe.
Rene Marie, the award winning American singer incorporates elements of jazz, soul, blues and gospel in her singing style. She has quickly become a heroine to many; a
woman of great strength, exuding stamina and compassion.

Fancy being a jazz singer? Well, here’s your chance to try your vocal talent in front of top jazz educators at this year’s Guinness Cork Jazz Festival – and get reaction, advice and tips.
In these sessions we will help you with some of the difficulties lesser experienced performers often encounter. Such as beginning to sing following an intro, counting off the band accompanying you, coming in after an instrumental solo and ending or extending a song. Come along and enjoy a terrific schedule of performances, workshops and master classes, all free of charge, at the state-of-the art CIT Cork School of Music in the centre of Cork City. It’s a Jazz Gathering of many famous international jazz educators including a special team from the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston.
The Jazz Camp is open to everyone – musicians and non-musicians. It will be of special interest to school, college, university and community big band members, plus individual musicians and educators.
Free Scholarships: The Berklee College of Music will be offering several Berklee Online scholarships to students who attend the Jazz Camp.
