COMMUNITY SERVICESWHAT IS CERT?

Local government prepares for everyday emergencies. However, during a large disaster, the number and scope of incidents canoverwhelm conventional emergency services. The CommunityEmergency Response Team (CERT); traditionally known as theDisaster Response Team (DRT) in Agoura Hills; is designed toeducate residents and businesses about emergency preparednessfor hazards that may impact their area and instructs them in basicdisaster response skills. Using the skills learned in the classroomand during exercises, CERT-trained DRT members can give criticalsupport to their families, neighbors, and community immediatelyfollowing a disaster when residents may initially be on their ownand emergency services may not be available to help.

If you would like more information about the City of Agoura HillsCERT Disaster Response Team, please contact the CERTinformation hotline at (818) 597-7302 or contact Louis Celaya at(818) 597-7314.

REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONSThe City of Agoura Hills provides a variety of programs, activities, and classes for all members of the community; including children, teens, and adults with special needs. Parent’s wishing to enroll theirspecial needs child in any of our programs, activities, and classes should make sure to complete the “Notes” section on the Registration Form where requests for special needs accommodations can bemade. Those parents that complete this section will be contacted by the Department of Community Services Center staff so that reasonable accommodations can be made to accommodate the inclusionof their special needs child. Because of the limited staff ratio, it is usually required that a child with special needs be accompanied by an aid or caregiver, depending on the severity of the disability.
