Baba Farid Group of Institutions runs under the aegis of Baba Farid Vidayak Society founded in 1993 under the encouraging patronage of prominent educationists from India, UK, USA and Canada. The group is being managed by its chairman Mr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Bharat Jyoti Awardee), an eminent educationist. BFGI aims at providing quality education along with preparing the employable young minds to face the competitive world on all fronts. BFGI campus, lush green and spread across 50 acres, is situated 4 kms. away, from the municipal limits of Bathinda city on Bathinda-Muktsar Road. The campus offers a host of hi-tech ultra modern facilities to ensure good quality & well-planned education to its students. We believe in treading our own path to success and our achievements over the last two decades stand witness to this fact. We continually experimented with educational practices with the passage of time. The inferences drawn from such experiments have widened our exposure in the field of education, leading to the emergence of Baba Farid Group of Institutions as a premier educational group of the country.
Idealistic in pursuit, naturalistic in settings and pragmatic in approach, BFGI emphasises to correlate theory with practice. For this, industrial visits and live interaction with successful entrepreneurs and senior executives are arranged on regular basis. In addition, teaching methodology has been upgraded by making use of latest technologies like digital smart boards in class rooms and Power Point Presentations. Realising the responsibility concomitant with being a premier educational institute, research activities have been initiated, laying stress on creativity and innovation. To promote this end , an independent 'Department of Research and Development ' has been established .
Education plays an important role in nurturing industry savvy student in a way that he/she is able to survive in era of competition. To build on these aims, Department of Training & Placement has been established to promote in-house training for producing great young Managers, Technocrats and Entrepreneurs . In order to guide the students about career options and to counsel them The Department of Career Guidance & Counseling also has been established in the institute. The real objective of education is to make a student socially and morally aware. The department of social welfare of Group is making efforts in the direction of making society free from social menaces. To instill this spirit amongst students we provide them with projects related to social welfare and further they are rated in the employability scorecard based on their contribution to society. This later become the part of their internal assessment.
We at BFGI feel that it is essential to build up a cordial relationship with the students to motivate them and encourage them to bring forth brilliant plans and ideas. For this BFGI is zealously engrossed in the transformation of the whole education system, teaching methodologies and employability concern of students. But the major hurdle in the path is the present curriculum structure of universities. So to eliminate this lacuna, we have already developed a special team on the job for developing the new curriculum for various innovative and traditional courses and marching towards establishing a full-fledged university.

Skilltree Education Evangelist of India by ET NOW
I believe that education should go beyond four walls of the classroom and help in gradual up-gradation and growth of an
individual. It is a combination of knowledge, wisdom, skill and intellect.
Our mission is to ensure 100% Placement of students of all courses so that we can serve our society by reducing one of its
major evil 'White Collar Unemployment'. To achieve this ambitious target of 100% Placement, we are working on 360 degree
dimension for growth of students. In order to achieve this, along with the academic excellence inputs we are strengthening
our students on the front of employability, practicability and social sensitivity. On the front of employability we at BFGI have
designed our employability scorecard containing 360 degree appraisal of students and their internal assessment is based
upon the same. We are making our students practical oriented professionals through industry sponsored live projects /
consultancy projects. The concept of 'Earn while Learn' is enabling our students to earn while they learn and become
financially independent to reduce the burden on their family. For this our students are working on very innovative live projects
within and outside the campus thus becoming self independent. Along with this, BFGI has been the first institute in the region
to provide the Global Exposure in more than 100 countries to its students, Under its global internship programme in
collaboration with AIESEC, our 9 students have already visited for 6-8 weeks internship in Egypt, China, Vietnam, Thailand etc.
For converting our students into socially sensitive citizens we have been dedicating each year to specific social cause since year
2010. Year 2012 was dedicated to Live Green which have been converted into LIVE GREEN – BFGI Social Awareness Campaign.
We are organizing mass level awareness seminars to make our students, parents and society aware of the harms of pollution
and ways to make own and others life healthier by living in a greener way. The institute is organizing state and national events
to target the most urgent need of the hour and that is upliftment of the females in the Indian society.
Our ultimate aim is to transform Baba Farid group of Institutions into a Hi-Tech University with the core motive of having
industry friendly curriculum to mould the students into socially responsible citizens and we are positively moving towards the
achievement of this worthy goal.

DEPARTMENT OF TRAINING & PLACEMENTUnemployment is globally regarded as a major social and economic problem. But first queson that strikes to mind is whether the problem is unemployment or lack of employability.
According to a study by Higher Educaon Forum there are gaps that exist between the expectaons of the employers and skills possessed by
students. In order to fill this gap, BFGI has established a full- fledged Department of Training and Placement. BFGI has a vision of providing students
with not only placements but to raise their employability, skill development and achieve 100% placements. To aain this vision, Department of
Training and Placements conducts the following key acvies:
Internal Trainings: The Department of Training and Placement conducts internal Trainings for the students which is a crucial part of our curriculum
and me table. The unique feature is that we have a dedicated team of more than 25 full me trainers who strive hard to provide the right plaorm to
the students not just by enhancing their skills but also evaluang these students through Student Employability Scorecard. The strengths and
weaknesses of the students are analysed through this student employability scorecard and then the required skills are brushed up based on that
analysis. This Training commences right from the me a student enters in the instuon and students need not to pay anything extra for this.
Career Development Program: BFGI leaves no stone unturned to help the students of the Group ulize their summer vacaons by providing
them absolutely free of cost Cerfied Career Development Program from the months of April to July. Through this program department
inculcates the required skills in students from diverse streams i.e. Engineering, Management, Science, Commerce, Biotechnology, Arts &
Agriculture. The workshops included in CDP are as follows:
- Workshop on Personality Development
- Workshop on Resume Making & Interview Skills
- Workshop on Business Equees
- Workshop on Communicaon and Wring Skills
- Workshop on Time Management
- Workshop on Selling Skills
Professional Training through Professional Trainers of Reputed Companies: Only internal trainings are not sufficient to accomplish the goal of
overall development henceforth we have collaborated with reputed corporate giants like HP, HCL, WIPRO, and MANPOWER for providing
students with professional training. The professional trainers of these companies impart both technical and non technical training to students.
Some of the major collaboraons are-

Guest Lectures & Industrial VisitsDepartment of Training & Placement arranges industrial visits for students of varied streams in order to provide them with an insight for application of their theoretical knowledge in the practical scenario. The students get a better understanding of Industrial processes that later helps in their multi-dimensional development. The department also invites eminent experts from corporate & academic houses like IBM, Genpact, IITs and IIMs respectively. Live ProjectsLive Project is an effective aid in enabling the students to relate theory to practice. Students need some mechanism by which transfer of skills takes place from the classroom to the workplace. We have provided many stipend-based live projects to our students in past and have accomplished the objective of “Earn while Learn.”
It is a matter of pride for us that MBA/BBA students of Baba Farid Group of Institutions have been short listed to do a paid live project with following organizations:
Compulsory Training: The Compulsory Training is a mere formality in other colleges but BFGI lays special stress on providing quality trainings to the students and it is not at all a formality for us. BFGI meticulously supervise these trainings on regular basis.
a)Training within the Course: In some courses, students have to undergo short term training within the course like 1 week/4 weeks/6 weeks. The department lays due emphasis on providing this training to BFGI students in reputed organizations.
b)Training at the end of the Course: BFGI forms a distinction by following a different tradition – wherein most of the colleges send their BTECH th th thStudents for Training in 7 and 8 semester, BFGI sends them in 8 semester only so that these students can be groomed more and latter get absorbed
in these companies. Our Faculty Advisors effectively supervise the trainings of students by visiting the respective companies and also invite the studnets to the campus on regular intervals and ask them to deliver presentations on their training project..
c) Placement Cum Training: BFGI facilitates stipend based Trainings keeping into mind that the students finally become the part of organization by knowing the culture and work processes after completing their trainings in the respective companies. This becomes a win-win situation for both the student as well as the organization because students complete their training with interest as the stipend is offered and organization which has invested its time and resources during the training on students gets ready-to work professionals
Placement Oriented Activities: The activities above are all related to skills enhancement but the department carries its responsibility further by provided them with placement platform later on wherein BFGI acts as a Placement hub for the Major industry giants who visit campus for hiring the students. In line with this, BFGI has accomplished a landmark of 6000+ placements in 300+ companies and successfully conducted 8 MEGA JOB FAIRS from 2010 to till date. Also the regular series of Placement drives are conducted for assisting students in placements.

About
Project Description
Project Scope
BFGI is the only institute in India which provides the opportunity for the students to earn along with their studies. This initiative will not only lessen the nancial burden upon the parents but also promote the work culture among the students.
Choosing the right career is a very challenging task especially in a world, which offers an array of paths. Wrong choice of career can mark a student's life. Career Guidance can help one in pursuing the right courses in the right colleges or institutes and can help choose a suitable career choosing a career is very satisfying only if you have made the right choice. As a famous adage goes if you choose the job you love, you don't have to work a single day in your life.Students often commit mistakes while choosing suitable courses or careers because there is a more scope of chance than choice in it. They are also not aware about their capabilities and potentials. So here begins the role of guidance counselor. Realizing its moral and social responsibilities Baba Farid Group of Institutions, established the Department of Career Guidance & Counseling, which runs program of guidance and counseling through out the year. The whole program is bifurcated into two spans. First is guidance program, which is scheduled from October to February and the second, counseling session, which starts in March and lasts up to July. During Guidance session students from far and near are invited in the campus and are made aware of the variety of study program and occupation available to them, where as counseling program helps them choose the career according to their interest and ability. Students are counseled on the basis of their career test and online-aptitude tests. All this is done free of cost when generally people have to spend a lot for these tests. Moreover the students desirous for these sessions are provided free transport facility. Guidance and Counseling program is being run for the last five years and more than 35000 students have attended this program. Aptitude Test: To take online aptitude test a student should go to BFGI website i.e. and there he/she www.babafaridgroup.com finds a link to take the online aptitude test. Clicking which he/she gets a form where personal information is to be given and then submit to get test. Test is quiet simple just one has to tick statements, suited best to him or her. This is psycho test, which tests personality traits, and possible careers are suggested in accordance with those validity and reliability of this test is more than eighty-percent. We have conducted this aptitude test of 6500 students of various schools. Radio Programme for Career Counseling: we are also providing Career Guidance & Counseling through Radio Channel for help of students to choose their career options. Personal Counseling: one thousand students of other schools and BFGI students from secondary to graduation level have been benefitted with personal counseling by our career guidance and counseling experts The department has been running guidance programme since 2006 and big career camps have been organized in which career counsellors of national and international fame have been addressing the students. Ms. Usha Albuquerque, Dr. Rajnish Arora (VC PTU), Dr. GS Bajwa and Dr. Harjinder Walia (Director IAS and ALLIET services training centre, Punjabi University Patiala), Dr. D S Parmar, Major Dr. Gulshan Sharma are names worth mentioning.

BABA FARID COLLEGEDEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE
Educational Institutions to some extent have forgotten their responsibility to guide students to be good social beings and citizens valuable for society and just provide them with degrees only. BFGI in order to make students realize their social responsibilities has established a full-fledged department of social welfare. Every year is dedicated to an important social and noble theme. Year 2009 to social welfare, 2010 to placements, 2011 to Youth development, 2012 to Live Green and Year 2013 has been dedicated to women empowerment. Its also not that the works started in that year are done away with the end of that year but are continued along with the next year theme as along with Women empowerment a continuous Live Green Social Awareness Campaign is also being run. Some of the important enterprises of the department are:
1.Free ambulance service: - Due to heavy rush on roads and people's negligence of traffic rules, manyaccidents occur and many precious lives are lost. To help people in case of an accident a freeambulance service dedicated to the memory of late S. Kuldeep Singh Gill, Director Finance, BFGI is provided at two Hi-Tech points; one at MaloutMuktsar junction and other at Goniana. Helpline numbers are- 9501115111; 9501115555.
