airtel is cheaper and the customer service is prompt. and they provide a moreconsistent service. if you fall under their coverage, take it.


Vishnuram,My experience is other way. BSNL nowadays attents to faults promptly and keepsinforming you of delays if any.


I agree, my parents have BSNL while I had Airtel! Airtel in Bangalore are dacoits!Horrible horrible service. On the other hand BSNL has been a very goodexperience hence I am looking at switching my internet service provider


Dont go for airtel, they cheat . . i had Airtel 1250rs plan they say 60GBdownload at 2mbps after that 512Kbps... But as soon u reach 19 20Gb ofDownload u will get message from airtel that u have exceeded the limit . .. getdata pack for maintaining the speed . . . they are frauds

that is because u are confusing kbps with kBps. 512 kbps = 64 kBps. the 50-60kbps that u said u are receiving is actually 50-60 kBps, which is obvious if u have512kbps or 64kBps connection

yes it is possible, u can change ur plan at any time by a written request toconcerned authorities, if higher plan is opted you have to pay the balanceamount of deposit.

Pls check the following

1. Windows firewall should be in Off Mode.2. Uninstall All the antivirus softwares loaded in your PC

then check your speed, eventhen the speed will be same, then complain aboutthat to concerned authorities.


256KbPS = 256/8 = 32 KBPSplease note the difference between small and capital "B"

Speed u r getting is good...as some bandwidth is also used for uploading thedata.


why 256 divided by only 8 ?


all computer related memory units are multiples of 8 like, 1 byte = 8 bit, 1 Mb =1024 KB etc(which is 32*32, a multiple of 8)

so they can either say 256 kilo bits per second or 32 kilo bytes per second but256 sounds something large and hence they use it to trick people.

Well, Sorry to ENGAGE MR. SWADESHlemme describe this to you 256 kbps and 32 kbps are not same. 256 kbps and 32KBPS are same. Here kbps = kilo bits per second and KBPS = Kilo bytes persecond. There are 8 bits in 1 byte So, 256 Kilo bits per second divided by 8makes is equal to 32 Kilobytes per second.REMEMBER 1 BYTE = 8 BITS.

BSNL was good 5 years back and now it is worse, even MTNL has far better offers thanbsnl, go to http://mtnlmumbai.in/index.php/unlimited-plan and check for your seld, whyBSNL cannot provide plans atleast like MTNL if not better than that, and since BSNL is inmors rural areas it should have much better plan that MTNL.WAKE UP BSNL, dont fool around, the reality is bsnl employee get their salary on time andget all benefits so they dont really care set aside improving their plan, if it was pvt ltdcompany they would have been on their toes and would have offered much better plan

No,not at all....It would depend upon the internet traffic.Suppose during midnight,users are less than daytime.So in that case,you'll getmore speed that day time for sure... :)And as per your question,some of the brandwith would be used up foruploading..And some would be using for auto updates,etc,in the background(Youcan turn them off....visit Youtube for help)...So you would not get the stable speed all around!!!So no guarantee for a stablespeed,it can be less but not exceed than the limitied speed (Untill hacked...I

At the Dombivli-MIDC Telephone Exchange (Kalyan Telecom District, Maharashtra), whenenquired for the BBG Combo ULD 1000 plan, I was told that the BSNL has stoppedproviding modems and customers will require to purchase a modem at their own cost. If itis so, then why this change is not reflected yet in the above-mentioned table?

BSNL has not stopped supply of modems, but there is shortage in supply, so it isnot available in all areas. thanx for your keen observation about tariff, now wehave have updated the latest.

as long a the connection or the network is good everything will good with bsnl if any thinggoes wrong with the connection they will show teh hell...from past few day i have an issuebroad band speed none of the technician are able to solve the problem in configuring mymodem and teh customer care guys always they are dump guys they openly says we don`tknow and finally some techs ask me to visit the local exchange.....god knows when thesegovernment companies will improve.....

Harsimran, I'm getting ULD 900 installed in Phillaur region. Here's answers tosome of your questions. You won't be paying for the landline installation fee,New 550/- (Old 300/-) because you already have one. You won't be getting afree modem, basic or Wi-Fi as free modems have been abolished from 1st of Jan2013 regardless of subscription. Wi-Fi modems will cost you 2100/- from BSNL orget one from the shops and it shouldn't take more than a few days to get thegear installed. Our installer is coming over tomorrow, Tuesday to install. Findmore info regarding installation charges, free modems abolition and AllowanceUsage on other pages here. If you ask me, I'd rather go for ULD 900 due to higherbandwidth.

The above user definately got his knickers in a twist. The above plan is not anUNLIMITED plan. Once 1.5 GB allownce has been used up the rest costs 20 paiseper MB. The more you download the more you pay. If he had read the plancarefully he would have realised that between 2AM and 8AM downloads wouldhave cost him nothing.

You can have Basic (1100/-) or WiFi (2100/-). Just tell the BSNL staff at theexchange when ordering what you want and they will install the right equipment

Hi I have a BB Home Combo ULD 625 when I took it 2 years (may be 3 Years) the speed forthe plan was 256 Kbps and now when I am continuing with it I am still getting 256 Kbpsonly. I contacted the BSNL office and they informed me that it will change to 512 Kbpsautomatically, but that is not the case now. Please advice on how to get 512 Kbps speedas promised by BSNL.

First of all you need to realise that your speed goes down to 256 Kbps once your4 GB allowance has been used up. Check your speed at the beginning of yourbilling period. If it stays at 256 Kbps during the whole month then you havereason to complain.Secondly, speed does not change 'automaticlly' it has to be changed. If anotherperson asks for the same package in your area he will get it but you won't. Ifyour local exchange won't do anything about it then complain higher up orupgrade the package then downgrade again. That might work.

What do you mean 'pair spair'? You don't mean 'spair capcity' do you? Telephoneexchanges have wire panals or ports to which telephone and/or broadbend wiresare connected. If there are no more ports to connect wires to then they cannotgive you a connection until more panals have been installed. Until then you just

BSNL sucks at many levels! those monkeys promise you some 'download speed' according toyour plan but you don't even get tenth of it when downloading! i'd sue BSNL if i had enoughmoney! they're just thieves in AC offices. it even goes on decreasing as time goes by. ihave 625 plan; at first, i got 25kbps download speed(those pigs promise 512 kbps til4GB)and now i am getting 16 kbps. i just hope it doesn't dip any further. if you havemoney, i'd never suggest BSNL... >:(

ULD-499 is unlimited, I-year charges are 4990+service tax, no extra charges,upto 4GB 512kbps and after 256kbps(includes DL and UL)

I have a BSNL plan "BB Home Combo ULD 900" and it used to be good until i encounteredproblem of frequent disconnection. I had registered through exchange and thru BSNLcomplaints IVR my pathetic experience of not being online and still paying for it !! whichfell to deaf ears. Nobody is interested in understanding whats the problem they JUSTCLOSE THE TICKET .. its a foolish .. nasty and a pathetic experience to be associated withBSNL. Please search some other providers, BSNL has no nerve to serve its customers, aftersales ! They should just shut it down and operate only providing landline connections

I am also having this plan and before 1.1.13 this was no so, 350 calls wereallowed to be used on any net work but only in the bill of Jan 13 it has beenchanged without the information of the customers and enhanced bill has beenserved. Customers have not been offered any opportunity either tochange/switch over to other plan. This is totally wrong.

i have combo ULD 900 plan where 400units free local calls could be made but now the freeunits can only be made within bsnl network and this change is not good.

We have been using BSNL Telephones for past 20 Years & Broad band for past 4 years.Normally, we pay the Broadband charges on annual charges. Accordingly, we did last yearalso. We have Rs.900/- Home plan. This had a facility to use 400 free calls. Suddenly, thescheme is changed, and we are charged for the calls made to other service providers now.This was not so, when we paid money on annual basis. Service conditions should not bechanged during the period for which payment is collected. From 044-28142003.

bsnl is really a cheater..actuly my dad is a gov employer..i m using broadband plan of850rp last 6-7 months...in which i use 2 get 350 free calls/month to all networks..now frmjan 2013 without giving any prior notice they limited free calls within bsnl networkonly.bcos of tht..whr my bill use 2 come around 800-850/month now it has come around1200-1300.bcos most of my calls wer 2 other networks..when i did enquiry in bsnl officethey told tht plan has changed n they hav given notice in some local newspaper in deconly.i asked which newspaper they said they dont know.this is really bull shit..now 2months my bill is crossing 1200rps..i m really fed up..soon i m going 2 stop my bsnl

Guys i am staying near Adugodi, Koramagnala Forum Bangalore. and i am looking forunlimited BB connection which can give me high speed 2/4 MBPS upto 30/40 GB per monthand thereafter 256/512 KBPS.

Currently i use Airtel BB 999 Plan ( 2 mbps upto 10 GB, thereafter 256 Kbps), for which iend up paying 1,200 Rs. every month. And it's not affordable for me. I wanna change myISP ASAP.

Bottomline: I know & have read BB reviews in B'lore that only either Airtel or BSNL BB isgood.However, Airtel BB Internet/ customer service etc. is good but sinfully expensive, so muchhidden cost( i end up paying 1200/m for 999 Plan).Bsnl, is affordable with good internet services but bad customer service etc.So here i'he gotta trade off situation. still i wanna try BSNL anyway.

I switched over to Home Combo plan a few months back from lower plan because BSNLpromissed it is Unlimited and speed 2MBPS upto 4GB or so. I dont cross that limit. HoweverI never got bandwidth speed more than 710 Kbps which corresponds to download speed of88Kbps. From 01Mar2013 BSNL has increased plan charges toRs 650. No action taken on myrepeated complaintsB Gopalan

So far my experience with BSNL is very good and Airtel is very bad--airtel cheats and teheris no doubt about it. BSNL you can be sure that you wont loose money ,unlike in otherservice providers like AirtelI am however not clear about new tariff on BSNL broadband wef 1st march 13

I am using ul750 which i pay 800rs but i am thinking to pay 1500 rupese per month for afaster isp 1mbps or 2 mbps unlimited but Wait! bsnl donot keep an 1mps or 2 mbpsunlimited at that pricemean you cannot have fast broadband but if other company comes increase they increasetheir speed but i dont blame bsnl is good as you can get service in india

BSNL is the worst customer care service only looking for the money i guess. I have BSNLbroadband 750 unlimited plan. As per that i m suppose to get speed of 512 kbps to 1 Mbpsbt i getting only 74.60 kbps since past 4 months i m suffering with this problem. I have torestart modem again and again and it work for few minutes after that net speed died. Ihave launched complaint so many times. So called engineers come, just open Google andrun away with rude answer, you will get this much speed only or upgrade your plan.Customer care never pick up the call. I am fade up of this issue. Kindly let me know theactual step i can take to get the speed i deserve to have or let me know how to disconnectfrom BSNL forever and also let me know where to give this negative review so other usersdon't need to suffer as I do

Hi,

I was heavily overcharged for BB usage in Dec Rs 2997 and Jan Rs 5147. I was in the Flexi500 home plan from mid Dec to Jan month, as i was not having my laptop to connect, Iwas not using the internet. But still the system shows bb usage and charged the bill.

I have made several phone complaints, written complaints to bsnl accounts, JE officer,sent several emails, but still no solution.

The bsnl system also didnt alert me when the bb limit is crossed, i didnt get any sms too.only after i confirm Yes , the system should continue, due to this system error, i had tochange my bb plan to unlimited again, though i dont have usage of it, my outgoing isbarred now, im getting payment reminder calls, late fees now.

Please let me know what needs to be done from my side further.

iam using bsnl last 4 years & befor that i used it for 2 years.last 4 years i am using 1450 4mbps till 20gb & after that 512 kbs plan unlimited with good coustomer support.only issueis that the cable cut down or dslink down.whenever i call them it fixed with in a hour.inthe beginning i didnt get good speed and i directly escaleted this issue to superior thenthey lay down the fibre till my house from there they use the phone line .if suppose i wantto use fibre tommrrow i will get instant connection since the cable is already there.i amhappy with current connection only issue is that after 20 gb i have to stuck with 512 kpbswhich is pain after using 4 mpbs.
