The Institute recognizes the importance of a strong foundation of the subject, interdisciplinary approaches, a balanced mix of classroom and independent learning, a large number of hands-on courses, and a research focused curriculum to achieve this goal. The Department of Bioscience & Bioengineering is committed to this goal and has developed a unique B.Tech. program in Bioengineering that is interdisciplinary in nature and include a substantial component of courses from Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, and Materials engineering. The Department aspires to produce Graduates, who have been enabled to develop solutions to tackle local and global problems related to healthcare, energy, environment and food. Unique Program Features The program provides a strong foundation in Fundamental Sciences & Engineering in the first three semesters in the context of problems and applications. Program fundamental courses are introduced from the fourth semester with quantitative and highly engaging content that builds Student knowledgebase in Biosciences. As advanced courses are introduced in later semesters, Students learn to integrate Engineering & Bioscience concepts they learnt in earlier semesters to synthesize interdisciplinary approaches to solve real-worlds problems in the domains of Healthcare, Agriculture and Environment. The list of diverse and exciting Elective courses in unconventional and multi-disciplinary areas like Multi-Omics technologies, Imaging, Biomaterials, Bio-instrumentation, Devices, Biodesign, Artifiial Intelligence and Sensors equips Students to solve problems that require inputs from across disciplines Graduate Attributes Ingrain critical thinking, problem solving and interdisciplinary skills that are necessary for research, employment or entrepreneurship in the bioengineering domain. Receive a strong foundation and hands-on training in Basic Science, Bioscience & Engineering laboratories, enabling Graduates to integrate knowledge in these areas and synthesize new ideas. Receive specialized training in Advanced Bioengineering areas, where they will have sufficient opportunities to apply skills gained across disciplines.
