SYNOPSIS
Creative and Innovative Design is an area which is gaining
popularity and wide acceptance due to its mass appeal and
manifestation in almost any tangible products that we can
lay our fingers on. Creativity is often associated with being
different, thinking laterally and making new connections.
Innovation equals to creativity plus (successful)
implementation while design is the process by which
information is transformed into a tangible outcome. Putting
the three together, one can expectedly presume that the
culmination will be the materialization or creation of
products with potentially high returns, global
competitiveness and sustainability which is extremely ideal
as far as commercialisation is concerned.
It is the the main motivation of this minor programme to
promote and foster creativity and innovation in design via a
series of related courses as a value-added feature package
for a specific academic programme in UTM that can in turn
provides the extra boost and impetus for future career path
and development of the students. The content of these
courses should preferably contain creative and innovative
elements in the form of modules or mini-projects which are
fundamentally design-based incorporated into the syllabus.
ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS
The minor programme is open to
all UTM undergraduates. The
students must be at least in the
fifth semester to enroll in the
programme. Students from other
faculties can have up to a
maximum of 6 credits exemption
for any design-based or
equivalent courses that they have
undertaken in their respective
mainstream programmes subject
to approval by the Faculty of
Mechanical Engineering (FKM).

SYNOPSIS
High demand for computer skills in many industries,
particularly in the business, scientific and engineering fields
makes a minor in Computer Science as a complement to any
field of study. Students majoring in other disciplines who
want to be competitive in the global marketplace or leaders
in the technological age should enroll in this minor program.
This Computer Science Minor Program is designed to
provide basic proficiency in computer science. The
requirements focus on programming methodology and
skills, structure techniques, laboratory courses with
programming projects, and design and analysis of
algorithms. Completing these requirements provides a
strong foundation in computer science.
Upon completion of this minor program, students are
expected to have the ability to develop simple application
with the domain of their major field of study.
ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS
For entrance into the minor,
students must have completed
four (4) semesters with CPA of at
least 3.00.
Students from Faculty of
Computing are not eligible to
enroll in this program.
