BRUCE GREY CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD – VISION STATEMENT
Committed to a vibrant Catholic education, we ensure quality learning experiences through community partnerships that nurture each student in mind, body and spirit and embrace the
teachings of Christ, giving witness to Gospel values.
In this new year……..We Pray: To live deeply, with purpose,
To live freely, with detachment, To live wisely, with humility,
To live justly, with compassion, To live lovingly, with our whole hearts,
To live mindfully, with awareness, To live gratefully, with generosity,
To live fully, with enthusiasm. Help us to hold on with vision,
And to daily renew it in our hearts. Amen
Let us remember in our prayers:
Steve Owen Grandfather of T.J. Thompson
and
Leo Bastien Uncle to Anne Marie Charette, Great Uncle to
Dorian Charette
“Gracious God, loving Creator, welcome
Steve and Leo into paradise. In your love, lead them into the unending
joys of your presence where every tear will be wiped away, and
there will be no more sorrow. Amen.”

character
be in you that was in

PATIENCE Patience is quiet hope and trust that everting will turn out well, even when it is now difficult. It is also showing acceptance of ourselves and others when mistakes are made. To be patient is to be like God who never gives up calling us to love him, and walk in his way.

Your motor idling when you feel
Like stripping your gears”

Old Man Winter & Bus Cancellations
The season is upon us...a reminder to listen to the radio on mornings that you suspect there may be school closures due to inclement weather. Bus operators work in consultation with school boards officials (primary secondary principals) to make the calls as to whether or not schools will be closed. Once the decision has been made a phone call tree is activated and elementary principals of schools in our area are informed of the decision to close. If there is an extra curricular event that your child is being bussed to on a day that the school is closed due to inclement weather, please make the assumption that the event has been cancelled. Please do not hesitate to contact the school with any questions or concerns regarding inclement weather.
Oatmeal Cookies A healthier bake sale wouldn’t be complete without an oatmeal cookie. These tasty cookies are soft and chewy with just the right amount of raisins. Our adult and kid testers gave this cookie “a big yes!” ½ cup soft, non-hydrogenated margarine 125 mL ¾ cup packed brown sugar 175 mL 1 large egg 1 2 tsp vanilla 10 mL 2½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats 625 mL 2 cups whole wheat flour 500 mL 1½ tsp baking soda 7 mL ¼ cup milk, 2% M.F. 50 mL 1 cup raisins 250 mL 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray baking sheets with non-stick cooking spray or line with parchment paper. 2. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg until creamy. Stir in vanilla. 3. In a medium bowl, combine oats, whole wheat flour and baking soda. Using a wooden spoon, mix half of oat mixture into wet ingredients. Add milk and stir just until combined. Mix in remaining oat mixture and raisins. 4. Roll heaping tablespoonfuls (15 mL) of dough into balls. Place on prepared baking sheets and flatten slightly with a fork. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until cookies just start to turn golden. Let cool on baking sheets on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove cookies to a rack to cool completely.
