SERGEANT S SESSION

* Bulletin Editor’s bad week: Put in an apology on page 4 of Bulletin for errors in the Members Directory and the date of the Front Desk Report was also wrong in Bulletin;

* All Mercedes-Benz owners: As the Mercedes-Benz ‘crowd’ were present Sarg fined all Mercedes owners;

* All those who had been fined for speeding in a Mercedes: A certain dealer principal paid the fine;

* All those who have dented somebody else’s Mercedes;* PP Ian Mence: Terrible polling for Vic Liberals. Sarg called Ian being

like the ‘Captain on the Titanic’;* PP Geoff Knight: Went to Fiji and married Victoria Shaw. Whilst in

Fiji Geoff was phoned by Vic Police who had found his father’s war medals that had been stolen 40 years ago;

* Erik Vandenberg: Late arrival. Big contributor to our efforts in Cambodia. Apparently has been there too much as he went dressed in his RM Williams jeans and boots and fell into the river and ruined them. Also he proposed two toasts in Cambodian at two different functions but got it wrong to his embarrassment;

* All those who have backed a tip in horse racing and it didn’t win: Put in a $1;

* All those who have backed a winner: Put in a $1;* Keith Cameron: Left the building early as he bought a Jaguar

Sports XK9 and didn’t want to be fined but he left $2 anyway;* Barry Hickman: Normally fine him for being casually dressed. Still

was just passable but Sarg fined him anyway;* Ron Stark: When asked by the Sarg if he had a fine he told the him

to go forth and multiply;* PP Ian Mence: Sister June down from Alice Springs had to stay in

a hotel as Ian thought his house wasn’t big enough;* Daryl Forge: Bought a Mercedes-Benz and after 4 months decided

he didn’t like it and replaced it. Has several Mercedes umbrellas;* Geoff Shaw: Nabbed two giant snappers 7kg each from Frankston

Lakes. Should have been fined $1 a kilo;* Des Thomas & PP Robert Ward: Talking while Sarg was talking to

them. Also fined for not reserving PP Jack Joel’s seat at the middle table. PP Arthur Hubbard also fined for taking Jack’s seat;

* Geoff Bentley: Was at Jack Holt Breakfast at 4.45am - wonderful performance - all on his table fined in honour of this;

* Norm Thomas: Talked into buying a Mercedes for wife Jan. When he went to pick it up he opened the boot and the number

plate fell off. All OK now;* Fines across the floor: Sarg was fined for not turning up to tennis

for 6 weeks; PP Ian Mence & PP Robert Ward fined by June Noble for surviving their childhood together after their early risky

nautical hi-jinks; Does Damien Hellard have a new lady on his arm?

The District Conference will be filled with a very interesting and diverse group of speakers. Hobart is a gorgeous place for a getaway- originally a penal colony, it was founded in 1804. It is the second oldest city in Australia after Sydney- so lots of historical sites to visit and explore.

March is a gorgeous time to be visiting; the average temperature is 20 degrees and the month of March has the least average rain recorded there across the year:) Hobart is a real foodie hot spot as well- home of the wonderful Mures Seafood restaurant. There are countless new places to explore- Garagistes, Taste Cafe, Pigeon

Hole The conference 2015 will be a great excuse to visit such a lovely city! The Conference website also contains links to other restaurants in the vicinity of the Venue.

Fantastic entertainment has been lined up to light up the Conference and there are several great fellowship opportunities planned. Rotary content is in the planning stages; an excellent opportunity for new Rotarians to learn more about Rotary

Irene and I look forward to seeing you in Hobart

In the Chinese horoscope it is the Year of the Goat and on Saturday it was The Hackers Day of the Tortoise for on the tee area of the Venus hole when the players arrived stood a very static and serious looking Tortoise. Now our play was not slow rather like our static tortoise we were stuck as nothing seemed to have changed from previous weeks and Daryl Forge played well again taking out Nearest the Pin, Handicap and Off the Stick honors and Ron Stark despite winning the Long Drive seemed bent again on getting his handicap out further to make a final charge at the The Spring Handicap Comp which ends next week. Tom Buxton, James Tisdall and Captain Ian Cole (who won the PreGame Putting) all seemed like extras on the film set of the Daryl & Ron Show where despite constant advice Daryl refused to lose his yellow ball and Ron put on an act for the tortoise at the Venus hole. Remembering he had just won the Long Drive Ron’s Venus tee shot rose high landed with a thump and bounced to end only a very short 5 metres away and 15 metres before the waters edge and he did the same with his second shot only this time after one bounce he was in the center of Lake Venus - The Tortoise was impressed.Early morning rain prior to play kept many Hackers tortoise-like stuck at home but the weather did clear, the umbrellas were never opened and a good mornings golf was celebrated with The Tin shouting everyone drinks.
