But Now Feast of the Annunciation 2013

1. The Promise“The Redeemer will come to Zion,And to

those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” Says the Lord.  “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.” Isa 59:20,21

St Athanasius of Alexandria

By taking our nature and offering it in sacrifice, the Word was to

destroy it completely and then invest it with his own nature, and so prompt the

Apostle to say: This corruptible body must put on incorruption; this mortal body must put on

immortality.

2. The Sign: The Kingdom has Come

20 But if I cast out demons with the

finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Lk 11:20

3. The Line: But Now

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 3:23-25

4. The Aim: Life was Manifested

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes,

which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life 2 the

life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to

us 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And

these things we write to you that your joy may be full. I Jn 1:1-4

5. The Prophecy: Burning Bush

30 “And when forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a

flame of fire in a bush, in the wilderness of Mount

Sinai. 31 When Moses saw it, he marveled at the sight;

Acts 7:30,31

6. The Way: Grace and Obedience

Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you

have found favor with God. ….. Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord!

Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel

departed from her. Lk 1:30,38

St Hilary St. Hilary's treatise on the Trinity by (Lib 8, 13-16; PL 10, 246-249) with the scriptural reading taken from Revelation 14:14 -

15:4.

This is why we are all one, because the Father is in Christ, and Christ is in us. He is in us through

his flesh and we are in him. With him we form a

unity which is in God.
