Me

Me, I’m a girl, but I’m not girly.

In fact, I really like archeology.

Chemistry, insects, dinosaurs, anatomy,

Help!

I’m trapped in a world of science!

Eels, amphibians, reptiles, slime,

Like this stuff?

Well, so do I!

Dinosaurs

Lambeosaurus is cool,

Archeopteryx is awesome.

Raptodon is scary,

Iguanadon looks like a lizard. Sauropods are slow,

Stegosaurus has plates.

All dinosaurs are interesting!

Name or Subject Poetry

"Sue" specimen, Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago. Most complete fossil of T.Rex ever found.

Katydids can bite.

Ants are very annoying.

Termites tear down houses.

Yellow Jackets sting.

Red Ants can really pack a bite.

Yellow Wasps give you pain.

Nits are very itchy.

Dolphins

Dolphins are really quite funny

They have nothing to do with a bunny

Dolphins are very loveable

They are also quite adorable

I really don’t think they’d be yummy.

Color Poetry

Bright as the sun Lovely as a sunset

Shimmering like a giraffe As attractive as a rose

Gentle as a flower Patriotic on the flag of the U.S.

Is gold Is red

Dark as the ocean depths Dark as a violet

As light as the sky Light as a lilac

Calming as the shallow waves Amazing as the depths of space

Is blue Is purple

Pale as cotton candy Dark as a dungeon

Bright as a cherry blossom Dull as dust

The color of many flowers Frightening as outer space

Is pink Is black

Dark as an olive Lively as a dolphin

Light as the grass Dull as text

As calm as the leaves on a tree Dark as twilight

Is green Is gray

I Just Ate

Some bananas that

Were on the counter

That you were probably

Saving to bake

Banana bread

Forgive me

They were so mushy

So sweet

And so sticky

Page 20: BY: LARISSA MICHEL My Collection of Poetry A S S A.

Humpback Whale

As the Humpback sings

Its mournful song

It swims slowly.

Each pulse of its tail

Is like a heartbeat

An endless rhythm

Doomed to continue

For all eternity

Dolphins

Dolphins are funny

They make me feel so joyful

They aren’t like bunnies

They are always playful

Gliding silently

Through the sparkling sea

Never acting violently

They are quite a sight to see

When they breach

They open up your heart

When they’re beached

They give you quite a start

When they die

You are always so sad

When they jump high

You are very glad

Dolphins are miraculous

They always heal your heart

When you’re sad

They understand

And come back to see you depart

Giraffes

Giraffes

Gold as the sunrise

Giant as the moon

Giraffes are

Gentle creatures

Gigantic though they are

Page 23: BY: LARISSA MICHEL My Collection of Poetry A S S A.

Trees

Trees

Tall as the moon

Growing gentle leaves

To make their food

Trees are innocent

You can’t blame them on anything

Some smell like cinnamon

Trees are very useful beings

Page 24: BY: LARISSA MICHEL My Collection of Poetry A S S A.

Giraffes

Galloping at high speeds

A blur of gold and brown

Is a giraffe

The power it possesses

Of nature, nothing more

Is enough to overwhelm you.

To make you

Passionate about animals

That’s what it would like.

Nothing more.
