Stephen Metcalfe

Bill & Judy Garrett

Thanks to a generous gift from theatre lovers Bill and

Judy Garrett, Cygnet Theatre has begun a program for

developing NewWork. The project is directed by Associate

Artistic Director, Francis Gercke and began with our first

reading of The Tragedy of the Commons by Stephen

Metcalfe. A second reading of that play will take place in

October, in preparation for the full production, opening

in early 2011 as part of our upcoming

2010-11 Season. A second play by

Mr. Mecalfe, World of Their Own was read for the first time in late April with a

talk-back afterward, providing an opportunity for the audience to ask questions

and make comments about the work. There are other playwrights interested

in participating in Cygnet's 'Playwrights in Process' and more information willfollow when details are confirmed.
