C-TPAT & Navigating Customs - Border Protection
C-TPAT - John Padilla - Supply Chain Security Specialist - Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism
Customs and Trade Partnership Against Terrorism seeks to safeguard the world’s vibrant trade industry from terrorists, maintaining the economic health of the U.S. and its neighbors. The partnership develops and adopts measures that add security but do not have a chilling effect on trade, a difficult balancing act. The partnership establishes
clear supply chain security criteria for members to meet and in return provides incentives and benefits like expedited processing.
Navigating Customs and Border Protection - Bradford Slutsky, Program Manager CBP Officer, Port of New York/Newark
Workshop will provide an overview of CBP logistical process to include explanation of different hold and examination types, what to expect when cargo is on hold, and best
practices for containerized cargo logistics efficiency.

Pre-Dinner Forum: Global Entry Trusted Traveler Program
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have implemented the Global Entry Program, a trusted traveler program, at 24 airports throughout the United States including Newark Liberty International Airport. Global Entry is designed to expedite the screening and processing of low-risk, frequent inter-national “trusted” travelers entering the United States. Global Entry members speed through pass-port control processing using a kiosk in less than a minute and avoid the lines for traditional pro-cessing by a CBP officer.
This program will require participants to apply online and receive pre-approval through the website first. Applications for enrollment in the Global Entry program are available through the Global On-Line Enroll-
ment System (GOES) at https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/.
GOES will have on hand at our Pre-Dinner Forum 5th the equipment needed to complete the
verification but you will need to pre-register online by January 15th.

Executive Message
Responding to uncertainty in customer demand without creating costly excess inventory is the main objective of SCM. We’re still lacking
strategic approaches to resolve this ongoing dilemma. Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity is: “DOING THE SAME TASKS OVER AND
OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS”. This makes perfect sense in today’s typical business world.
So, how do we get there? “Do it differently from the way you are used to doing things if you want different results”. It starts with TEAM
BUILDING wherein, move the people from “I” to “T” mentality. “I” shaped people only understand their own functions but “T” shaped
people understand the process they are part of and also their functional strengths along with how their activities affects others.
