17th July 2008 #4-CTF3 Committee 2

CALIFES STATUS: Mechanics/installation

Work done on week 27

Laser Beam Transportation: work completed !- all the line is under vacuum @ 30 Torr (0.04 atm)

no leakage- change of the spring which held the lenses- completion of the protection caps on laser table

Pumping ~ in the middle of the transport line

Vacuum gauge near the PI table

CALIFES STATUS: Mechanics/installation

Work done on week 27Observation: problem of quadrupoles positioning compared to the vacuum chamber center

the 3 quad. have been re-centered at ~±0.25mm compared to the vacuum chamber center(magnetic axis = mechanic axis)

CALIFES STATUS: Mechanics/installation

Remaining “mechanical” work for end of July-August

• VPM#2 – CA.MTV 0420: recovery of the piece used for mirror introduction important leakage detected new installation foreseen on week 30

• VPM#1/2/3 – CA.MTV 0215-0390-0420: protections necessary for superior part of VPMs chambers Lead shielding necessary to protect cameras from radiations

General vacuum test for CALIFES foreseen from week 30 or beyond ? (CERN)

• Power Phase Shifter: in klystron gallery (CERN) provide water arrival for the Power Phase Shifter

CALIFES STATUS: Bake out temperature

Following temperatures should not be exceeded during the bake out of the line between the injecting gun and the 1rst LIL

section

• Is a temperature monitoring foreseen during bake out ? • ICT Bergoz will not be able to tolerate an higher temperature than 100°C

CALIFES STATUS: Laser system

Work done on week 25 and 28:

• Main objective Installation of the Pulse Picker and test it: with synchronisation coming from the Masterclock instead of the final fine synchronisation

• Good rise and fall time have been checked OK• “plateau” OK, no discontinuity• transmission measured = 81% in agreement with measurements made in the lab in Saclay

17th July 2008 #4-CTF3 Committee 7

CALIFES STATUS: Laser system

Work done on week 25 and 28:

• No measurements in CLEX with camera (Pulse Picker + transport), due to too low UV energy (0.3nJ) tests are reported to beginning of September

• Checking of CLEX camera: signal doesn’t go up (even with a CERN camera) this problem has been solved ?

• The lines for sensing UV beam at the output of the laser table have been installed The line sensing the profile at the output of BBO uses the same mounting and UV converter as the sensing in CLEX

CALIFES STATUS: BPMs 1/2

Work done on week 26: CA.BPM0220, CA.BPM0240, CA.BPM0260, CA.BPM0310, CA.BPM0380, CA.BPM0410

BPM

Frequencies and the factors of quality of the monopole and dipolar modes were measured on the 6 BPMs

• Similar results from one BPM to another, and in-situ results are comparable to

Saclay in-lab measurements

• Cross-talk 26dB OK

CALIFES STATUS: BPMs 2/2

Work done on week 26:

• Electronics boxes were installed in the CLEX• In the BPMs rack (CLEX-G), the various crates and cables were installed

Work planed by the end of July (week 29 or 30):

• Replacement of the LEMO cables + flat cables in CLEX-G• Problem discovered with one Acqiris board (1 channel is out of order)

board sent to Agilent company for repair (at least 4s-8s of delay min ?) M. Draper try to provide us another board temporary during this period

CALIFES STATUS: Control Command of BPMs

Work done on week 26-28: thanks to S. Deghaye’s, etc …

1/Readout of acqiris board signals on OASIS OK

2/Signal processing OK

3/Results sent on graphic windows under JAVA ±OK

The 6 BPMs are implemented(command of the BPMs switchs remotely from control room is not yet tested)

Work planed to be completed by the end of August: • BPMs Control Command: soft written but still some difficulties for communication with the database (not updated), transfer and tests of acqiris boards to their final rack BY064-XG have to be done, with help of CERN team ? task on critical path

CALIFES STATUS: Control Command and database

CALIFES Missing components in Database (status on 11th July 08):

CALIFES Components already in Database (status on 11th July 08): Working set OK for:

• RF measured signals• Solenoids (3)• Quadrupoles (3)• Dipole (1)• Correctors (14 over 18)

Working set not implemented yet for:• LLRF commands• MKS30 commands• RF Timing commands• BPMs signals (CA.BPM0220,etc …)• VPMs signals (CA.MTV0215, etc …)• vacuum ?

We need also some help to transfer/install our software on a Control Room PC

CALIFES STATUS: Conclusion

• End of “mechanical” tasks

• MTVs (Video Profile Monitors): electrical adaptation under progress and Control Command have to be done in Summer-September, with help of CERN team ? task on critical path

• BPMs (Beam Position Monitors) Control Command: soft written but still some difficulties for communication with the database (not updated), transfer and tests of acqiris boards to their final rack BY064-XG have to be done, with help of CERN team ? task on critical path

• Transport of the UV laser beam down to the photocathode, with Pulse Picker working in specifications energy still too low, and have decrease last week …

• RF Power Phase Shifter: Specifications document re-defined and sent to the contractors for acceptation and signature (CEA would manage directly the brazing company for mode convertors official separation of machining and brazing

tasks). New order is under progress. We foresee an installation during the shutdown (beginning of 2009).
