3. Using the Tools The CAD tools allow you to specify a location on the map ‐ a point, a line, or a polygon and search the CAD layer for the contact information associated with First Nation boundaries that coincide spatially with that location. Optionally, you can specify an adjacency buffer distance that widens the search around your location by the buffer distance. To use the CAD Point tool:
1. Click the CAD Point Tool in the iMapBC toolbar
2. Click a location on the map you would like to query for First Nations contact information.
3. Enter an Adjacency Buffer distance if you prefer.
4. In the Report Options, select either Show shape on map to see the point you specified and the adjacency buffer distance (in meters), or choose not to show the shape on the map, leaving it blank.
5. Click on the Submit To CAD button to begin your search. Within a short period of time, iMapBC will display a CAD report in a new browser window. Scroll through the report, and you will find all the contactsFirst Nation boundaries intersecting the point you specified.

Note: If you have pop up blocker software enabled in your browser you will need to disable it for the new CAD Report window to open! With some pop up blocker software if you hold down the Ctrl key before you click the ‘Submit To CAD’ button it will allow for the new CAD report window to open.
The CAD line and polygon tools work in exactly the same way as the Point tool, but they allow you to specify different shapes for your search location. You may draw lines and
polygons on the map by selecting locations of vertices for the line or polygon. The CAD line tool allows you to search along a linear feature such as a road or a river. The CAD line tool allows you to assign a width (in meters), to the line feature you have drawn. The CAD polygon tool allows you to specify a larger area, such as a district lot or an administrative area. The maximum supported shape size in for the CAD polygon tools is 100,000 hectares. If you require a polygon larger than this you will need to carry out your query using multiple polygons.
