CALL FOR PAPERS ABOUT THE CONFERENCE Following on from the very successful Conference held in February 2016, the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) will be hosting a the 2 nd SAIEE Smart Grid Conference from the 19 th to the 21 st September 2017 at the Eskom Conference Centre in Midrand. The program for this year’s Conference has been extended to include a much wider ecosystem associated with Smart Grids. Topics such as Smart Cities, Smart Utilities, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Internet of Things, and a number of other associated topics, have been added in order to provide an insightful and stimulating program. Keynote and plenary speaking slots have also been extended to include world-class and esteemed experts from India, China and other developing countries that are currently making significant progress in the deployment of Smart Grids and other associated technologies. THEME AND TOPICS The theme for this year’s Conference is “Service Delivery for a Smarter Africa”. On the basis of this theme, the following is an indicative list of topics for presentation. It is by no means restrictive and any additional topics that participants may wish to add will be considered for inclusion. Smart Grids Smart Cities Safe Cities Building intelligence into utilities other than electricity, e.g. transport, water, sewerage etc. Smart metering The Fourth Industrial Revolution The Internet of Things (IoT) Business cases for Smart Grids, Smart Cities and IoT Telecommunication solutions for Smart Grids and Smart Cities Electric Vehicles Renewable energy resources in relation to Smart Grids and Smart Cities The Smart Home and Smart Appliances Asset Management Emergency preparedness and Disaster Recovery Cybersecurity and its impact on the Smart World Buildings of the future Big Data Analytics
