Internal Dining Room PerspectiveThroughout treatment and diagnosis of Alzheimers

and Dementia, it is important that the patient remains

calm, aware of their surroundings. It is also importantthat they remain stimulated allowing them to engage

with daily activities. Key to this is the sense of smell.

Therefore it was important that the building make useof wildflower planting, creating a sheltered garden

space that would be directly accessable from the din-

ing room.

Direct external access from diningroom to protected and securespace outside

Communial dining room allows patents tomeet, encourages dialogue and eases thestrain on carers

Open plan kitchen sits centrally in the space,lending a domestic atmosphere to this part ofthe building

Triple height exposed roof, rooflight floods thespace with natural indirect light throughoutthe day. This keeps contrast low, which helpsreduce patent confusion and discomfort
